We're in for a long wait but hey, it's looking like this patch will be worth it. Patch notes: store.steampowered.com/news/app/1086940/view/4179982568653520452

It makes a lot of sense to have the alphas and betas for a while, so that when official mod support starts, some of the mods will be ready already :)

I just hope the mod support will allow modders to make more things standalone vs replacements. The makeup mod I use currently replaces some vanilla options, as there is apparently a limit coded in to how many makeup types can be available, so they couldn't just make everything as their own entries. It's not a huge deal, but I still prefer variety so having even MORE makeup choices is better than losing some. I'm all for a lot of content, but when progression hits a brick wall 50% through a 200+ hour game it's tough to stay motivated for that long. I mean we are not talking about a 10 hour clean-up to resolution chapter, we are talking another 100 or so quests. Hopefully there are a handful of people who can gang up on the level cap, as though I would be fine with melee classes just getting additional skills/feats/attribute boosts and spellcasters receiving additional spell slots for already existing levels, I'm sure there are even more people who want to actually take their characters to demigod-like status with all the boons that come with level 13, 15, 17 etc...That's a ton of work when you consider the sheer number of high level feats/class specific abilities and higher level spells. This is super cool. I went to town loading mods with Fallout 4. Had a ton of fun. For Baldur's Gate 3, I've haven't because the game was running too slow on my older PC so I switched to Apple. Very excited about the cross platform news too. After I finish my current play through where I hope to end with all right with the world, I'll put the game to bed and pick it up again probably in November. It'll be a new world.
I've been replaying BG3 for the last 3 weeks. I just keep beating it and restarting it as I wait for elden ring dlc....and I'm gonna replay it again when we get this update 😤
That's actually perfect! I'm going to drop another 200 hours into Pathfinder WOTR after the last DLC drops, so it should keep me occupied while waiting for some godly BG3 content.
Translation on the whole NSFW mods thing: "Hey guys, I know we released a game that contains graphic violence, literal eating of children, multiple sex scenes, the ability to strip your characters at will, and literally lets you pick from not just one but multiple genitalia options for multiple races, but we can't officially support any mods that contain content of a lewd or sexual nature for ANY of our platforms because of Playstation's and Mac's incredibly prudish and backwards content policies. Sorry."
While I know console mods will be alot more limited, I also know how creative mod authors can be so its all good *_For cross-platform support, direct level editing and changes to core game elements (like story, cinematics, dialogues, quests, and local gameplay adjustments) can’t be facilitated due to technical constraints and platform-specific guidelines_*
Interestingly in description of toolkit they say nothing about adding locations and such. I still hope moders will be able to do something akin to remake of old BGs or NWN ;)
I am a bit concerned that a number of mods that add most of the character options that are currently available for 5th edition into the game which require a script extender would not be officially supported based on what they said in their community update. I got into BG3 because of the hope to bring all my 5e D&D character builds to life, but then was disappointed when it mostly only included options from PHB and nothing else. I've been wanting to get into using mods but couldn't due to the frequent patching of the game. Was excited for official full mod support, but now worried that the mods I would want to use would not be supported.
I am always worried about 'moderated' mods, as the moderation often makes no sense. I can totally see that the nsfw version of 'big bag of clothes' mod is going to be disallowed, while the game itself allows you to run around without any clothes.
In the case of the Bethesda mods, at least with Fallout 4 on ps4, you could only use assets that already existed in the game. Meaning it wasn't just the standard NSFW mods you would expect to be unavailable, but genuine mods sometimes could be impossible to port over too. None of this was Bethesda's fault, it was all sony. left for a really underwhelming version of modding.
Question: Do you think this'll allow modders to create new story content? Like a new quest or even a new area to explore? Would be super if you could get the camp back together after the final curtain call and go on further quests.
What I would like to see are mods that add sidequests and new areas to the BG3 game. There are plenty of such mods for the original BG games, as well as for Dragon Age Origins game.
If it's one thing I learned, it's not to immediately patch my current game but wait cause new patches will always break other stuff and hot fixes will come. Also it will break some current mods too.
I’m guessing the Modding for console will be like how you can get different things via DLC. Like how you can get different outfits for characters in some games. Or maybe there will be a hub like there is for Minecraft.
Finally built my new computer (so now I can play this game) but I learn this last patch is coming out...why would I buy/play now when the game will be better in a few months? Waited this long, guess I can wait more...maybe I'll just wait till it's on sale...in a few years.🤷
Console player very excited for mod support. I honestly want the ability to obtain clothes that are currently only available by complete random, or connected to a magic effect and/or reserved for the end of the game. Won't mind if some have to be specific to certain body types, since it'll be better than just not having them at all. Different camp/noncamp versions of clothes would be great too! Especially camp-wearable hats and boots. Of course I want to be able to pick different races not currently available. I'm not expecting to tromp around as a bulette, but I think the various humanoids shouldn't be too tricky to implement. I wanted to play as a goblin since the very beginning. The ability to play the difficulty level of honor mode WITHOUT the single save, would be awesome. Awesome. Also would like to be able to increase the economic effects to make it need more stuff each time I rest, as I find 80 a time a bit easy, and if I'm not playing honor mode I tend to set it to max. Really makes it feel like I've actually saved up for something. Just make honor mode legendary effects available in the other difficulties, that'd solve it! Being able to use a "small shovel", as a shovel, when small, seems like a good idea too. Surely an oversight?
I wonder if I’ll get into the modding later. I’m currently super invested in the game, so I don’t want to alter the experience just yet. But it’s a very exciting option.
I had to listen to a part of the video twice, because I'M SORRY BUT IS THAT HALSIN'S BODY BEING TALKED TO IN THE BACKGROUND?! The AUDACITY to off him! 😲😳😂
I kind of wish morning for consoles worth more like it did for Skyrim and fall out when you can still do that. There was just an option where you could go in mods and then start downloading stuff...
Hey MrHulthen and community! Please help me understand some of what I see here in the news today! :D If I understand correctly, Larian states that they will have to limit mods to what they are allowed to use from D&D, based on their license? Does that mean that there is a chance that we won't be able to use "Officially supported" mods that included the extended spell list? Or mods that create classes and subclasses not officially currently in game? Also, it seems like script support is currently not on the table or at least up in the air. Don't most mods that make significant changes to how things work require a script extender? Or is this something that mod developers can work around. I'm pretty aware of script using mods as I use a Mac to play and I can't get them to work on my mini. :D TY for your help! Have a great one!
The steam post said that mod-makers could help Larian shape their tools and I don’t see modders not asking about a built in script extender or a way to convert their script mods to consoles. This more than likely means we’ll see script mods and the modded in subclasses.
So consoles like ps5 will eventually get mods too but only a limited selection of ones that work rather than anything and everything that people make? If that’s the case so long as the mods ps5 gets are fun and do what I’m looking for I’m ok with that.
Mod support. Now we need some form of mod organizer/editor. The patches haven't wrecked my games. There were a couple of hiccups but they are gone. We need to be able if we have the skills to alter quests or create new ones. Note they don't mention that and I am concerned that may not be possible. There is at least one mod on the Nexus where someone added to Ascended Asarions romance. I would hope their mod kit can do something similar even if it's not "officially" supported.
Haven't played in months managed to finish the game a few times but those save data bugs kept affecting me for months I ended up losing around 80 hours across all characters.
whoa that character at 4:03 looks awesome, please tell me no mods were used for that XD man i need to boot up the game again I barely managed to get past the first act, damn you work and your unrelenting sucking of my free time!
This summer has some big drops from ER DLC to FF14 Dawntrail to Shin Megami Tensei and a few more so it is completely okay to give us a few month until the update or my pile of shame would grow again :-)
Thanks Mr. Hulthen, can always count on you for BG3 info. Seems like Sony's still going to make sure their heavy censorship hand is still involved, and that's just sad. I'm an adult, I can take it. Some of the small print seems to indicate Sony still won't allow scripts, either, meaning just like Skyrim and Fallout, we'll be getting a sterile, watered down version of mod support. Oh well, better than nothing. Much thanks to Larian, who made a truly great game that keeps on giving.
I still can't believe they are still updating the game and giving us new content when it's not even a live service game. Like they aren't even being paid for this. It's just free updates for something we've already paid for.
I just would like a way to have a playthrough with auto-succeeding conversation items. I can overcome combat rolling, as there are multiple chances over a number of rounds to succeed. But conversations have one shot to get "a hit."
damnit i ordered the Physcial deluxe edition for PS5 and its already two months behind schedule, is this saying i wint get my game til September now, that going to be that will be 5 months behind schedule
So like my biggest thing is will xbox get the extra subclasses and races and the artificer. The extra spells. Those are the big ones everyone wants. Does anyone know anything?

This is super cool. I went to town loading mods with Fallout 4. Had a ton of fun. For Baldur's Gate 3, I've haven't because the game was running too slow on my older PC so I switched to Apple. Very excited about the cross platform news too. After I finish my current play through where I hope to end with all right with the world, I'll put the game to bed and pick it up again probably in November. It'll be a new world.
gonna replay bg3 in 3 years (if im still kicking by then) with all the new mods ready, sweet
I've been replaying BG3 for the last 3 weeks. I just keep beating it and restarting it as I wait for elden ring dlc....and I'm gonna replay it again when we get this update 😤
Literally just want a mod for more attractive preset faces for console players
I just really want a good transmog system. I'm tired of my characters looking samey every time.
There is a decent one out
There are a couple of really good transmog mods.
Get mods
That's actually perfect! I'm going to drop another 200 hours into Pathfinder WOTR after the last DLC drops, so it should keep me occupied while waiting for some godly BG3 content.
Mods being on consoles is amazing news, I wonder if we will get script mods on PS5 unlike Skyrim and Fallout 4 which is only allowed on Xbox.
Translation on the whole NSFW mods thing:
"Hey guys, I know we released a game that contains graphic violence, literal eating of children, multiple sex scenes, the ability to strip your characters at will, and literally lets you pick from not just one but multiple genitalia options for multiple races, but we can't officially support any mods that contain content of a lewd or sexual nature for ANY of our platforms because of Playstation's and Mac's incredibly prudish and backwards content policies. Sorry."
While I know console mods will be alot more limited, I also know how creative mod authors can be so its all good
*_For cross-platform support, direct level editing and changes to core game elements (like story, cinematics, dialogues, quests, and local gameplay adjustments) can’t be facilitated due to technical constraints and platform-specific guidelines_*
September and all the subclass mods and character creation mods I could want. We console players will be eating good soon.
It'll be a veritable house of hope dining spread! Plentiful, delicious, and probably a bit cursed. And in we shall tuck!
I am always worried about 'moderated' mods, as the moderation often makes no sense. I can totally see that the nsfw version of 'big bag of clothes' mod is going to be disallowed, while the game itself allows you to run around without any clothes.
Well you saw it in the video. Bg3 needs to keep within the licensees realm of expectations.
It's probably because of Xbox and PSN mostly
@@rayclawicefire2503 These platforms make no sense because 'Adult only' apparently doesn't actually mean that on there.
@@blinkusfishus2052 Same for Skyrim mods on Switch. I really hope we can get better than that for BG3 on PS5.
Question: Do you think this'll allow modders to create new story content? Like a new quest or even a new area to explore? Would be super if you could get the camp back together after the final curtain call and go on further quests.
Let’s get the other subclasses in.
Wildfire Druid here we come!
Wtf i cant wait 😂 i started playing for like 5-6weeks ago, am 320h in 😂
The update we need is to get cerys out of my battles
I could be wrong but I think "later down the line" is supposed to mean "not in this patch"
What I would like to see are mods that add sidequests and new areas to the BG3 game. There are plenty of such mods for the original BG games, as well as for Dragon Age Origins game.
All I want is new dice skins for PS5 if they can do that I'm golden
I just want basket full of equipment on console. Since it follows the guidelines for PS5 it’s possible.
I just want “no party limit” for PS5 😭😭 I hate having to decide between characters
I just want Karlach to stay on Faerun, not die or Avernus.
That's probably super easy.
If it's one thing I learned, it's not to immediately patch my current game but wait cause new patches will always break other stuff and hot fixes will come. Also it will break some current mods too.
That's great, modding on ps5 is exactly what I want in BG3
I’m guessing the Modding for console will be like how you can get different things via DLC. Like how you can get different outfits for characters in some games.
Or maybe there will be a hub like there is for Minecraft.
Finally built my new computer (so now I can play this game) but I learn this last patch is coming out...why would I buy/play now when the game will be better in a few months? Waited this long, guess I can wait more...maybe I'll just wait till it's on sale...in a few years.🤷
I just hope the Mods will be compatible for Console players as well honestly
What I hope the mod tool is capable of is what you could do in nwn. Make your own campaigns, man that'd be sweet.
I wonder if I’ll get into the modding later. I’m currently super invested in the game, so I don’t want to alter the experience just yet. But it’s a very exciting option.
Chad Larian at it again
Virgin Larian*
Still waiting on that Karlach engine fix.
ahhhhh so basically, you want DLC? ya'll make your own DLC
Man... Screw Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast
Modern gaming has normalized the need for DLC lmao. BG3 is already 100+ hours for a single play-through. We don't need a DLC.
Finally, it's great to know when I can take a vacation off work lmao.
Thats great, can we get crossplay next?
I had to listen to a part of the video twice, because I'M SORRY BUT IS THAT HALSIN'S BODY BEING TALKED TO IN THE BACKGROUND?! The AUDACITY to off him! 😲😳😂
I kind of wish morning for consoles worth more like it did for Skyrim and fall out when you can still do that. There was just an option where you could go in mods and then start downloading stuff...
I agree with that comment at the beginning of the video. Larian should make the KOTOR remake.
Finally!!
Ok so September might as well finish my current two evil runs then I pre preped then.
I already will starting to rebalance and re-edit the whole class system! There is huge problems in E5!
How would the mod feature work on console because everyone uses nexus mods to get it
can we kill the devil that wyll made a deal with so karlach can live and we get the infernal robes again?
I feel like every game that’s single player should have mod support 😂😂
I only installed 2 updates, do i have to install all other ones, or can i skip?
C'mon Sazza companion mod
How do mods on console work?? Like do you need to upload them with a pc or what???
You cant make them but presumably you will be able to download them.
I still can't believe they are still updating the game and giving us new content when it's not even a live service game. Like they aren't even being paid for this. It's just free updates for something we've already paid for.
Amazing, ain't it?
Finally, I can mod my bg3 game faces and hair!
I stopped playing before the first update. Is this a different game now?
I wonder if the download for mods on ps5 will be similar to skyrim
I just would like a way to have a playthrough with auto-succeeding conversation items. I can overcome combat rolling, as there are multiple chances over a number of rounds to succeed. But conversations have one shot to get "a hit."
i just want all black dye and to use illithid powers without being ugly-ps5 player
damnit i ordered the Physcial deluxe edition for PS5 and its already two months behind schedule, is this saying i wint get my game til September now, that going to be that will be 5 months behind schedule
I just want to give Wyll a better haircut
The new neverwinter nights.
Thx for the news
It would be cool if it could go up to 6 players,or even more
Only mod I use is the WASD controls one, wish it was patched in by Larian themselves officially.
So now the modders can mod Baldurs Gate 1, 2 into a sidequest in Baldurs Gate 3! 😂
I need cross play, one of my brother's computers is not powerful enough but we have a PS5 he can use.
I want a mod to steal all things from corpse OR via pickpocking.
I want to make a panties stealer playthrough (because it would be funny). 😂
So like my biggest thing is will xbox get the extra subclasses and races and the artificer. The extra spells. Those are the big ones everyone wants. Does anyone know anything?
I would really like of they would put more focus into REAAAAALLY polishing act 2 and 3. Its performance still quit poor, specially 3
So does that mean the mods would come to console?
So, when the update goes live, will any save files with mods using mod manager and what not go corrupt?
