For dialogue proficiency checks it only shows you what your modifiers are . . . NOT what the difficulty class of the check will be. Often the option that you might have the most modifiers for might also have a higher DC so it isn't always easier. And the Class specific options, while usually good, can sometimes be bad or even auto fails (looking at you my Bard!). This game is so good it's brining in a lot of people who have never played with DnD mechanics who will come for the game play but will get frustrated with not understanding mechanics like how armor is different in this game or how saving throws or DC works.
Some nice tips in here, thanks. I hate the fact that Larian has allowed characters to carry barrels and crates around in their backpacks. For me, the crate stacking and barrel tricks in turn based mode to prep for a fight are just ridiculous game mechanics.
My favourite trick: Use backpacks for a cleaner inventory. For example, have a dedicated backpack for potions and one of scrolls instead of having everything cluttering your inventory. And the best thing, you can find backpacks everywhere in the world for free.
Jumping uses less movement but it also cost a bonus action meaning you won’t be able to use the many other bonus action skills you may have on that turn.
At least for me in early game, there are not many great bonuses besides dipping a weapon in a candle which isn’t super useful since I’m a wizard. Wait, I just realized maybe I can dip the staff in fire and get a buff to spells? Probably not

I agree about the jump bit. One trick I've learned is that the limit on distance only seems to apply to the selected character.
