What a huge help this is to hear you actually talking to the camera attached to the helmet of the student. It feels like you are right there with them. AJ you doing videos like this was a great idea, I think you gained a lot of fans as a result of it for sure. If you ever get little more experience riders or even yourself riding with a break down voice over, I think a video of how to soak up jumps would be good. Proper technique and the timing of it all explained and broken down. I believe it would be a really good one!
Hey AJ, how about a video on the transition from standing to sitting in a slow speed tight corner? Maybe even an S corner where there is a stand up transition in between the two corners
If you have the chance, would you please cover soft approaches to soft rutted jump faces? I'm in S. FL, sand tracks and the jump faces often get deep ruts with a soft bumpy sugar sand approach, so as the ruts get deep and the track gets rough the bike starts moving all around on the approach and it becomes very difficult to hit the ruts on the face strait.
I remember when I was just learning to jump....and I am one of those who likes to tap the throttle at the lip of the jump.....and it would cause me to endo'... and pull the front of the bike up to far...when you said commit early...you already have your speed up and its almost like your speed will carry you over the jump and its like coasting over the jump at high speed.....
Cool. Two things I think I noticed in Talon's riding that I have challenges with myself: low heel position when on balls of feet and slight reduction in throttle at the peak of the jump. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks.
Both of those things are actual what you should be doing, so you’re all good. Rolling off the throttle a bit on the coming up to jump is something I do quite a bit because I approach with so much speed. I wouldn’t recommend it for a complete beginner, but as long as you’re not making abrupt changes in throttle you’ll be ok. Low heels while riding on the balls of your feet is exactly how you’re supposed to be!
First jump of the video gets a very underwhelming “not bad”. I love your flat out honesty....no bullshit, here to teach and it just comes right out, good or bad. How to land jumps Sir ? ( instructions for legs position on impact is what I'm looking for ) Should my legs be straight, bent a little bit ? Tension them or loose and absorb ... I'm getting confused. On a local enduro training the trainer told me I shouldn't try to absorb the jumps with my legs, but let the bike suspension do the work ... ( seems I'm bending the knees and absorb by instinct ( mountainbike jumps habits I guess )) What is your advice ? Initially I was convinced it wasn't terribly wrong to absorb the hits with the help of my legs, and I notice on a lot of how to jump video's this isn't really mentioned. FYI : I was doing small jumps, 1-2meters high, 2nd gear jumps from a small kicker but with a flat landing, so a different type of landing compared to a MX track for sure... maybe the advice is different for MX track other kinds of jumps
You 100% want to absorb with your body. Your body’s suspension travel is more important than the bikes. So that means you land with your legs very straight and you absorb as you land. You need to have the strength so that you absorb and don’t just collapse to your seat
@@AjCatanzaro thanks for the confirmation Sir, I was starting to doubt my "technique". Also, I was worried when not absorbing with the body, when the bike's travels runs out ... what then... so I'm glad I wasn't wrong at all.
