Awesome video. Most really good riders have zero idea of explaining how they ride. AJ And Jett are great at explaining some of the details of riding. However at AJ and Jett's level they don't have to think about what they are doing, it becomes a feeling. Thousands of hours on a bike, and years of experience, makes it much easier. Keep up the great videos.
Good tips. Really surprised that a young buck like Jett, right in the middle of a championship run takes the time to give advice to some local kids. Pretty cool.
I've been struggling a lot with keeping that front wheel controlled late in ruts and although I've heard you teach a lot of these things before, seeing someone work through it is super helpful, it gives me confidence I can apply these to my cornering. The input between yourself and Jett explaining the causes and the resolution for a problem was great!
Nothing compares to Getting lessons from AJ and Jett at the same time at Mtn View. Jett being the fresh youngster and AJ the Vet I can’t imagine a better duo. If I was Stephan I would have hit them for tips all day lol
Most definitely!! I grew up racing with Travis Pastrana and he was super knowledgeable like that at 11,12yrs old he would school us to stuff like this. He was unbelievably knowledgeable for his age. But he did start training with Gary and David Bailey on his kx60
Really good! We both learned something except I did it from the couch!. Thanks guys. Enjoyed. That hand rolling out thing to grip correctly which brings the elbows up is a golden tip. Everybody probably needs that correction, especially super arm pump victims. Bad ass boys. Thanks for the brain power.
this video gave me so much clarity!!!! the way Jett spoke about the outsides of the hands is going to help so much!!! Can't wait to try this on sunday. keep up the great work man!!
These techniques are way way better then what I was doing before it makes sense and I like this way a lot it's more comfortable thank you all for this video.
Extra special treat here that you guys taught and shared, provided many instructions and analysis. Then shared the pro teaching with the bigger world of riders!! Totally Rad man. 👍
AJ . . . that was friggin sick mate, like REALLY sick. What as fantastic vid best I've ever seen. It helps that a fellow country man is in it but outstanding with both of you. Australia, Melbourne 🇦🇺🇺🇸
Hey AJ, I'm just re-watching some of the videos since taking your course in Calgary last week (I was the old guy on the 911 Yamaha) and what I am really enjoying is how consistent your instruction is. It's always the same stuff. And it's simple. But NOT EASY! I'm not a racer but I am trying to just have more fun and be safer. I learned so much. So awesome now to go back and watch Jett race and notice how well he does all the stuff you taught us to do. Again, simple, but NOT EASY! Great stuff.
Awesome vid! Great to see the interaction. Jett sounds so familiar but I realise watching US vids so often we Aussie’s don’t see the banter and rawness. I loved Jetts hips & grip tips 👍🏻 when you watch him ride it’s now so obvious. He’s loose but graceful and smooth 💪🏻🇦🇺🏆
I feel what Jett was saying about speed in the corner. I’m no pro at all but I’m pretty decent at corners from years of street bike racing. You gotta commit. I come in with speed and sit down almost immediately lean in a little and keep throttled through the corner. Most times from habit I’ll keep my foot on. Look ahead and power out hard keeping my weight centered. When you get it just right you’ll feel it dive in then hook up and she feels like it’s on a rail around the corners haha
Dude, this video was awesome. The perfect combination of funny moments and great instruction. What a gift this was. Anyone who races dirt bikes should see this!
This is really good! I keep trying to get my wife and brother to grip the bars like that but they just can’t get used it it. I learned this from a friend who went through moto training a few years ago, I used to run wrap around bark busters and always had arm pump. I removed the bark busters and applied this technique, never looked back. Little to no arm pump and way more control, elbows are always up now. It’s been at least 4 years now.
AJ thank you for the work your putting in man i live in Vancouver WA mountain view is 30 min away from my place seeing this kind of insight is so bad ass and really helping with my riding coming form a dude racing 30+ c it helps i have be following ur channel for 4 months or so now dude please keep it up and the race vlogs are bad ass butt the riding tech etc is rad keep it man strong work
Thanks for the great handle bar gripping tip guys! I’ve never thought of rotating the hands like that before but it makes total sense to me and will now try and apply it to my riding..
Great tips! Really impressed with Jett giving his time and instruction, genuine attention to detail. Great job to AJ as usual, you could see Stephen improve during the lesson.
Albert (haha, you're AJ, lol), these videos are wonderful! I am an 'older rider' returning to riding in my early 40's after a 13-year period without a bike. Being old I am less focused on looking cool and more dialed in on the fundamentals, thanks to you and Ryno. These how-to vids are lightbulb moments for me and applying what you're teaching has greatly increased my riding enjoyment this year. Thank you for that! Also, each time I see Jett participate in stuff like this I become more of a fan. The sport is in excellent hands with the Lawrence brothers.
@@bunnyman6321 learned how to manage expectations and push myself in a race situation without sacrificing technique, improved rut riding and working on maintaining good eye speed
One thing i was told with the grip was think about turning a door knob. Holding the grips like that was so foreign to me but now i try really hard cause it does get those elbows out.
Not to toot my own horn but like 15 seconds before AJ said to 3rd gear looked better I thought to myself, “he should upshift so he’s not so choppy in the corner” lol AJ is such a great teacher.
Well, now you got me moving my levers waaaay in so I can grip like that and put my elbows up. There was always something a little uncomfortable in my wrists when I would try and put my elbows up for an extended amount of time but this makes so much more sense to me. Thanks guys
Jett has set a new standard for how fast Mx is… the next few years are going to be so exciting for both classes 250 and 450… right now Hunter and Jett have both classes covered. But Deegan is charging foward and he’s just a rookie… Dax is coming … going to be fun to watch… I’m a fan of all these guys
Can i try to share a tip? i think, based on experience, talking about hands position it’s quite right that you have to actions the lever with only a finger but i think, in order to make much easier to pull the levers to move them inside the bar. Thank you so much, really great videos so much instructive.

The start of this video is the Australian way of treating your mates !! Legendary Jett ,
First time I’ve heard anyone talk about the position of your hands on the grips. Makes total sense, can’t wait to try that next time I ride!
I'm right there with you bro, I'll be giving that a shot at the track tomorrow.
Works way better that way! Good luck y’all 👊🏼✊🏼💨💨💨
Adding it to the list of things that I forget about doing every time I ride. Maybe I'll remember this one one day
That makes twisting the throttle 1000 times easier!
@@SampsonGG too true. I watch these and think I'll try that next time. Next time I ride I forget everything haha

I agree, especially long deep ruts. Requires a lot of balance and practice.
@@slimmyshady2707 Smooth throttle helps a lot with that too.
Has your cornering improve?
Jett needs his own VLOG!!
That would be bad for everyone else haha
I wouldn't be surprised it redbull did a life of jett vlog for supercross. Just like the redbull motospy.
I never would have guessed I was gripping my bars wrong. Jett has an incredible understanding of the mechanics of motocross.
To this day it’s still interesting to watch, especially to refresh my memory 🤘🏻

@07:40 I don’t think people realize just how vital and how rare this tip is that Jett is giving. No one teaches this and yet it’s GAME CHANGING.
It’s unbelievable how knowledgeable Jett is….and he’s only 17 years old. Maaaaan 🤯🙌🏻

This was really good. Dropped some serious knowledge bombs in this video.
That handlebar grip technique is genius. Totally gonna try this out !!
