  • By request, for GrandHost.
Photographs is the fourth album by Patrick Sky, released in 1969. This is a poignant track, dealing with an issue that societal mores has refused to address, preferring to look away and place the blame where it is least deserved - on the mother of an unwanted child born into devastating poverty.
Patrick Sky (born Patrick Lynch: October 2, 1943 in Liveoak Gardens, Georgia and passed May 27, 2021 - a great loss) was an American musician, folk singer, and songwriter of Irish and Native American ancestry (Creek Indian). Sky was raised near the Lafourche Swamps of Louisiana. He is considered a vital contributor of the 60s Greenwich Village folk-revival movement. He was a contemporary and close friend to Dave Von Ronk and Buffy Sainte-Marie, and played with some of the great contemporaries of the folk scene including Eric Andersen and Mississippi John Hurt. Sky uses the medium to speak his mind about contentiously political issues of the day and his album Songs That Made America Famous, recorded in 1971 was rejected by several labels because of his outspoken views. It was finally released on his own label, Rainbow Collection in 1973.

Thanks for uploading this. Pat Sky was special, sad to lose him a few years ago. Would you happen to have Patrick Sky's album Two Steps Foreward, One Step Back? I'd love to hear his recording of Lost Jimmy Whalen on that album but it's not easy to get a hold of in the UK.

I’ll see what can be done about that. 🙂
He was the real deal. Pretty ballsy guy.

@@Eileenjennifer69 I'd very much appreciate anything you can do! He definitely was ballsy, but on the flipside of the confrontational (e.g., this song, Jimmy Clay, all of Song That Made America Famous) he also had a very gentle way with words... songs like Many a Mile, Love Will Endure, and A Girl I Once Did Own are all among my favourites lyrically.
