In the thriller, Rachel (Blunt), who is devastated by her recent divorce, spends her daily commute fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day, until one morning she sees something shocking happen there and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds.
Based on Paula Hawkins’ bestselling novel, The Girl on the Train is adapted for the screen by Erin Cressida Wilson and Taylor. The film’s executive producers are Jared LeBoff and Celia Costas, and it will be released by Universal Pictures.

This movie was pretty awesome, not because of the quality of the plot or acting, but there's a shot in the scene where the train passes by, looking from an aerial view. That shot was filmed literally on the roof of my house in Hastings-on-Hudson. Dreamworks had to give my dad a contract agreeing that he allowed filming on the roof.

I'm really bored of people who keep saying this about trailers. A trailer that is 2 minutes long, to a movie that is 90 minutes long is 1:45 the duration of the film.
Wow. This was a good movie. Acting superb. Great script. I'm glad it was free too. Didn't even need to leave the house. Can't wait for the sequel. I'm glad UA-cam has gotten into the film industry. These 3 minute movies are fantastic!

I doubt if it will. I love Emily Blunt, but Sicario was a MUCH better story than this is and she couldn't get a nomination for that.
She has a lot more to work with here than her cipher-like character in Sicario though
Unfortunately Oscars are often given for career achievement, not singular performances (see Leo). She will get her's in time. Probably not even for her best performance.

Haven't read the book, and have no idea what happens from this trailer. This trailer doesn't reveal anything it throws out a lot of accusations and only a reader can pick out the truth.

@EKS511 I feel like the ending was rushed, there wasn't really anything that touched on any kind of affair between Megan and Tom like at all, but I guess that's more to do with the fact that it was just an affair that didn't mean anything to him at all, or even her really, evidence of which is shown by the end.
Also the pile of clothes by the train track, whats that about? What happened to Scott? They don't give us a clear enough image of what Rachel went on to do with her life after it all, but I guess that is appropriate vagueness. I also wonder what happened to Anna. I would like some more of Tom's back story, why is he a pathological liar, why was he the way he was? The fact he did it just came out of nowhere for me and felt quite random as like I said, there weren't even any subtle interactions between the characters to even suggest they knew eachother on that kind of level, other than when Megan was babysitting, and they would give eachother the acknowledgement of a hi and bye, which isnt suspicious at all. I know Tom didn't think much of the affair, but you would think that Megan would have alluded to a third man, or some kind of positive impression on Tom, unless the affair with him meant nothing to her either, which seems unlikely giving the type of person she was. It just feels like a lot of "unanswered" stuff in the book is unanswered, but it would be nice if they spoonfed and confirmed some of it. Also, Scott knew about the affair Megan was having, so why did he seem surprised when Rachel went to his house and told him about it?

Here's the thing, there's already an inherent bias in your evaluation. Having read the book, you already have this imagery of how things are in your head and unless you're the director, there's a high probability that you'll be dissapointed because your world/version of the book wasn't reflected on screen. On the other hand, I have no fucking idea who you are and you could be the most impartial man/woman on Earth
Scott and Megan character didn’t develop well in the movie. They were so bland. They were one of the most important characters in book and the choice of characters and their movie dialogue didn’t do them any justice. Scott was supposed to be devastated by his wife death but in the movie seemed perfectly fine.

I went to see this movie a week ago and i must say i love it! Good plot, good acting, and a great plot twist! Highly recommend!
I personally thought this movie was amazing. It's like reading a good book. You have to remind yourself to remember the details so that you can piece it back together. You have to shake your hands, set the book down, run around the house, and scream to let out the anticipation. Then be mind blown as the pieces start to fall together, as the climax happens and starts to fall apart. Just when you think it's over it's not, all the while being dragged down the confusing tunnel that is Emily Blunt's mind as Rachel.

(we all know it happens sometimes...you stamp a good book and then end up reading it through the shift) IT'S NOT GONE GIRL. it focuses more on the credibility of the only eye witness to a horrible crime, more than a simple whodunit. Glad to see its getting screen time! :)

Just saw this movie! It was great in my opinion, the trailer does make sense now, but I do not think it gives the film away. It's intriguing but you can't go expecting a huge thriller, it's simply a romantic thriller that is great to watch to pass time! Like a lifetime movie. :)
