When cold on my Merc 30 I normally take Killswitch lead off pull choke on ,full throttle and pull it over once. Then put lead back on push choke in and leave full throttle and will start 1st or 2nd pull everytime
@@benwilkinson1989 I just run two small motorcycle batteries. They're separate to the motor although I do believe you can get a charging kit if needed that connects the outboard to the batteries.
How old is the hull on your big mac? Ever since I saw this video a few months ago, been looking at mac360s on trademe, seems to basically be 2 classes of them, new ones (less than 10 years old) that are high sides, mostly go from $8000+, and the rest all seem to be around 2000-2003 range, not sure why that is, like every old Mac360 for sale is around 20+ years old. Can't figure out why you don't seem to see many for sale in the 10-20 year old range. Mac give a 5 year warranty on new Mac360s... so I'm kinda wondering do people end up somehow wrecking their Macs after 10 years, I dunno. Can't figure it out.
Mine is a 2003. If you can get a newer one (some where around the 2008 mark) it's worth it because they changed to a higher transom. If you can find a highside one second hand even better. I'm pretty sure they all end up living the rest of their days out at baches because they're so low maintenance. Don't believe mine will stop kicking any time soon!
@@tkodnz thanks for the reply, are you Happy with the Mac right now? Are you planning on getting a bigger boat anytime over next year? I'm saving up for something. I have a true kit inflatable with 15hp but it's just a little too small, I want a proper boat on trailer, a little bigger and with bigger outboard. So perhaps a mac360 or an aluminum pontoon like an osprey or something.
@@KiwiKaimoana I'm super happy with it. Does everything I realistically need. However I would love to jump to a 4.5m ali pontoon at some point but that's quite the price difference!
You know I love your review video so much, that I've watched it over and over (possibly will buy a Mac360 in future after saved up enough money) I even made a True Kit review video where I made it extremely similar to yours. Some of the talking points are the same so I even talked like you in the video, LOL.
probably Smartwave 3,5m would be a tad better - it has more space, less spray (have chins), high transom and sides, closed seat and two smaller closed compartments at the back. And prices are less of more comparable
For sure! Unsure if they would be as good to flop in and out of though without the pontoon shape. Definitely say they would be a better purely fishing boat no doubt.
Very in depth review, really helped my decision making!
Sick review, boat looks like it goes hard
Hey mate , how have you gotten power from the out board ?
Sick review I’m gonna go buy 10 now
Awesome review really helps with decisions. How'd you go about setting up the fish finder and bilge pump at the back?
Need to have a box fabricated to the transom.
my dad got one for 2800 hundred thing is mean and hands down best 12ft boat out there

Will give that a go for sure!
I second that, I got the same advice from Mike @ Mike’s Marine Silverdale for my 30 Merc and it’s worked every time.
How have you gotten power from the outboard ? Do you have a battery

Hey mate, so you definetly wouldn’t be going for an 18hp for this boat? Planning on getting one with that motor, won’t have 3 people often
25 minimum unless you're not planning on getting anywhere in a hurry. Could maybe get away with less if it's just you going it alone.
@@tkodnz ah okay bugger, was hoping it would be good and if it needs a bit more I would’ve put a planing fin on the motor

Hey mate where’d you buy the bling box from?
It came with the boat. I believe it was welded onto the original transom brace by an engineer. Highly recommend getting it done. Very tidy solution.
Bro could you do a video of your electronics set up 🤟
It's probably not one for other people to model off. It's pretty rough!
@@tkodnz rojah.. just wondering how you've mounted the transducer to the back of your Mac as I have the same boat
@@benmacgeorge3013 self tapping stainless screws and heaps of silicone in the hole, on the scree and around the plate.
do you have the transducer installed with self tappers into the back of the transom?
Yea mate. Just slapped plenty of silicone in with it and haven't had any dramas.
