    Good to see an honest review from a Kiwi!. You want Hilleberg Akto one man plus vestibule tent for extreme conditions. Its the only tent manufacturer some logistics companies insist on for South Pole crossings. Kerlon, their own fabric is not found in any other tent on the market, they will send you a free sample to try and tear... I also have the Nammaj GT3 another larger 4 season tent. They re pricey, but bought mine used in as new condition off Ebay. My life is too valuable to chance it on rubbish gear.

    Thanks mate that’s a great review. I almost bought a cooker off them until I found the hidden reviews. Ended up going with jetboil as I didn’t want to chance it failing. It’s actually dangerous to have gear fail especially when I take my young kids hunting overnight

    My mates have the Horizon tents, one has busted. The hubs are a weak point , they have little to no ventilation, and they are simply not a good product. I have Hillebergs for base camping, and use a Wilderness Equipment 2nd Arrow for backpack hunting when away from the vehicle. It has been great, plenty strong enough for all but the worst conditions, integral pitch which is always the way to go. They also make a heavier version of the Arrow that is only slightly heavier. What's the point of spending little for no quality??? I use a HBerg soulo a bit when the weather looks really dicey, but again you get the weight penalty. I am always happy to sacrifice a little luxury for the confidence in my tent and sleeping pad when on a hunt. Bushbuck seem to have a lot of copies of a lot of gear, just not sure if the quality would be the same. Buy once cry once, quality gear would be a priority if I was hunting in NZ. Obviously a lot of hunter content on Y/Tube is from guys who must have some sort of affiliation with them and their products. Thanks for an honest review.

    Because you are OCD on arrow building I subbed you. I too scrub the inside with a brass rifle bore brush before cleaning with 91% or better alcohol. Each insert, brass or aluminum, is cut or filed to the SAME weight. All my inserts are lightly 300 grit sanded to remove whatever and alcohol cleaned. I’ve been using the Bohning low temp blue hot melt for several years with very few lost inserts. But everything is cleaned well. I only use Q2i or AAE stealth vanes on my hunting arrows and and Bohning Blazers on the 3-d target arrows. The bases of every vane are rubbed with alcohol. Gorilla brand instant adhesive on the vanes. I very very seldom loose a vane. They are usually destroyed by another arrow. Each unassembled arrow is weighed- all the parts on the scale and grouped on the table. I like my finished product to all weigh within 3 grains excluding the adhesive. Yes, that’s OCD. BUT, why not? I liked your narrative and presentation. 👍👍

    How old is the hull on your big mac? Ever since I saw this video a few months ago, been looking at mac360s on trademe, seems to basically be 2 classes of them, new ones (less than 10 years old) that are high sides, mostly go from $8000+, and the rest all seem to be around 2000-2003 range, not sure why that is, like every old Mac360 for sale is around 20+ years old. Can't figure out why you don't seem to see many for sale in the 10-20 year old range. Mac give a 5 year warranty on new Mac360s... so I'm kinda wondering do people end up somehow wrecking their Macs after 10 years, I dunno. Can't figure it out.

    • @tkodnz
      @tkodnz Рік тому

      Mine is a 2003. If you can get a newer one (some where around the 2008 mark) it's worth it because they changed to a higher transom. If you can find a highside one second hand even better. I'm pretty sure they all end up living the rest of their days out at baches because they're so low maintenance. Don't believe mine will stop kicking any time soon!
