Good vid. Love my sit-in for hunting, it fits a ton of stuff and I like sitting low. Upgraded the backrest with more padding and a higher back, made a big difference. Wish I could lay out in it a little better, but I have it rigged pretty well for cover with sisal ropes that look good and hold extra veg.
In your river footage, surprised you didn't have that gun in a floating case. I have dropped my gun overboard on a kayak hunt, and it was a very bad deal.
What size of kayak do you have? Sounds like a very solid setup. I typically do case my gun when on the water but in that case I was jump shooting so I had to have it out
I went from a sit inside old town to a Pelican catch 120. I can fit 4 dozen in the front and my half dozen goose decks in the "trunk". It has the stadium style seat and only weighs 50ish lbs.
Mmm I’m looking for something that keeps me a little farther away from the snakes and gators. Although with the right paddle, I’m sure I could do about Mach 2 when the moccasins try crawling on.
I have the Jackson Big Rig I believe length is 13.3 Width is 38 in. Weight 92 lb. Weight Cap. 450 or 500 lbs. It`s not a paddle drive I have hunted ducks out of it and it hunts pretty stable . Your not going to win any races but I didn`t buy it for that reason . I wanted something stable for hunting and Fishing it has a Stand up Bar and I`m 300lbs. myself . Enjoyed it Thomas
I have red head kayak blind however a lot of people are asking about alternatives because it is unavailable since last year. Let me know when is your trip and if you are interested in crane hunting I might have good spots. Also I will be heading to Nebraska probably on season opener ..
@@moustafakaid3904 I think the yak gear 2.p blind that’s coming out this year will be another good option but those are the only two dedicated kayak blinds on the market that I know of. I will definitely let you know if/when I make it out there. Hope Nebraska treats you well!
I have a Old Town Predator 13. I have a 400lb weight capacity. The seat is very comfortable and adding camo and concealment to it is a breeze. Ill be trying it out next season
I just use my red white and blue kayak that I got before I started waterfowl hunting. Just your standard old conventional kayak from dicks and I put camo burlap over it. You don’t need anything too crazy 👍
That’s right, a dependable kayak and a little burlap or netting is how I started too. As long as you have confidence in your gear that’s what really matters
I like canoes and they kayaks for the simple fact you can sneak right into your spot and come shooting light all your birds are still there vs a gas boat where your going to kick up all the birds
Another tip.. You get what you pay for! Don't cheap out!
Absolutely, way too many ways for stuff to go wrong if your kayak fails on you
Yeeeesss! In a couple months I can get a job and after a car I plan to get a kayak next waterfowl season
Noice
Love to hear it Keaton! That’s right when I got into it and haven’t looked back
I’m so ready for this winter!!
Starting to feel like fall up here!
@@HokeOutdoors dang dude! Down here in Ky it feels like it’s over 100 degrees like everyday!!
A stadium seat works also on the sit on top kayak, Can’t wait for this season!!!
Never thought of that but I'll have to check it out for my Angler 144
@@HokeOutdoors just watched your response video with Josh, all of y’all keep up the great work!!👍🏽
You da man Yung Thomas!
Too bad my kayak videos can't compare 🥲
@@HokeOutdoors Just add some more yo yo yo’s at the beginning and you’ll make it someday

That sounds like an awesome rig! I might need to get a new kayak for my dad soon so I'll have to look into those
@@HokeOutdoors They are also relatively cheap.
You know the season is getting close when we start getting multiple videos a week!
That’s right! Just a few more weeks till it all kicks off

I realize that this is an older video, but are you still intending to post the follow up video?

Thanks Chuck! I've heard good things about those Jackson kayaks in the past, glad to hear it's doing the job for you
awesome video. what type of lay out blind do you have on the discovery?
Thanks brother! I’m using a Cabelas Northern Flight kayak blind on it
Great video, quite informative
I appreciate it brother!
Good video, I wonder if you can cover the kayak blind topic as well
R u coming to Texas this year?
Thanks Moustafa! What would you like to know about kayak blinds? I won’t be working out in Texas this winter but I might make a trip out that way

Love the duck tape shoes lol

Absolutely agree with you on that one!
Use a sponge to get the water out of your old town.
When you call a canoe a kayak you lose me!
My favorite thing about videos like this is there’s 60 white dudes dressed slightly differently, saying the same thing slightly differently
LMAO it's so true, and only like 2 of them don't have giant bushy beards
