Step 1. Save up the cash to buy these cards. I'm sure it's frustrating to those people who want to do this and maybe only have $300 to $500 saved up. What would be a safe amount to start off with if you are new to selling cards? Most of us aren't going to have the money that we see you and others spend. Step 2. Don't overextend your credit card.
Anyways, Keep up the great work, I do love your videos and appreciate the work you put into them.
Wait 5 years. Most of these cards will be in a nearby flea-bag mall on a Saturday for a dollar each.
people need to understand that in the end you have cost that increase your cost and if the seller is happy and you are content, its all good and realistic!
@@TEDJIMENEZ-s2m 100%, thank you!
70% is a huge buying price compared to other markets. Usually you need to triple up in order to be profitable. I see that sports cards are different, but paying 70% of a "perceived" market price in a speculative market sure as hell aint robbing people
@@cashless18 that’s very true. I was shocked when I learned that 70% is unheard of (absurdly high) in other markets
As a dealer myself, I would never sell at 70%. I typically won’t go below 90%. I simply tell people what they do with the cards after they buy from me is not something I can be a part of. Me helping them make a profit is not part of my business. I still manage to sell at my sticker and at my business model of not going anywhere below 90%.
Paying 70% on bulk on modern stuff is definitely fair if you’re reselling. Like you said you’re paying close to 15% in fees and expenses. And then your time. Plus values can fluctuate more dramatically on modern cards.
I 100% agree on your Buy It Now strategy
Think it’s definitely the way to go
I have been a huge fan of Ken Griffey JR since 1989 when I was 10 years old. I used to have all his rookie cards but my brother ended up selling most of them years later without telling me. I do not know if I had a 9 or a 10, but I have always liked to collect his cards. I just recently got back into cards and the cost of freaking packs and boxes is insane now. What the hell happened? 😂 😂
I'll never be surprised by what people will complain about on the internet. Complaining that a business is buying it's products for less than Retail costs is always an entertaining one though.
Also, they act like the seller bears no responsibility for knowing the value of their cards, and are at the mercy of the buyers comps.
great way of breaking it down, does take work and effort but it's also enjoyable seeing some nice and different cards people have collected!
Thanks for the behind the scenes look. I love this kind of content. I as well prefer buy it now. Auctions are too risky for me and you have too many variables, with buy it now as you said you wait a little longer sometimes but that gives you more time to find the buyer that will buy it at your price
Would love to see the psa reveal for this collection!
It was super cool to meet you at the Vancouver show. Continuted success to you!
I do 99% BIN as well.
I have heard, and it does seem true from experience, that listing some Auctions does drive the traffic (algorithm) to your other listings. So it may be a decent strategy to list a few cheaper cards ($20 or less) every week. If it does increase traffic, it may be worth losing a little on those auctions.
Would be an interesting experiment to see if it is true or not.
That is a sick buy. The value was insane . I would be a bit curious if you value the potential graded $ into your evaluation or are you just basing everything off of raw - great stuff , thanks
I need those Tua rookies 🔥🔥🔥
Man that was you at the charlotte dang, thought it was you dang. Thought I was seeing things. wish I said hi and got a picture and maybe a deal done.
7300 is insane I love all baseball basketball and football I see 12k worth of cards 😮
is that tanner hock still available lol
Great video Troy! You’re always dropping gems for us. 2 questions tho…what makes you decide to keep a card? Lastly, do you recommend selling more at card shows rather than ebay? Thanks
@@yaw17 keep a card like long term? I’d say that’s a pretty short list. Usually stuff I target specifically and buy individually rather than part of a whole collection
That case looks nice! Instant profit.

Big fan of the Hauck and the Tua. Maybe bundle them together?
Would you grade the auto too or do you just grade the card?
Just the card
You gotta give him that 12:29 😂😂
Kinda surprised you don't closely pre-grade the card before sending them for grading. Have you found that it's not worth the effort? What's your gem rate? Would love to hear your thoughts!
i hope that tre mann auto makes it to ebay if it doesn't get moved on whatnot.
Tanner Hawk Tuah is crazy work

What about the tax when you buy it off ebay. 910 listing wouldn’t that be like 1k total with the fee?
How do you keep track of all expenses and profits from sports cards?
Thank you
How often do you have to buy stuff you don't want to get what you want?

Hey i have a question. What are the rules of grading your own cards. like if your a grader and you do that as a job can u grade your own cards for free or is that bias? thanks. awesome vid as always
@@lukeSlzr not really sure what you mean. Like if you work at PSA or a big grading company then no you can’t grade your own cards
@@TRIKESportsCards so if u have a collection can u get a discount sending it to PSA?
Great stuff

Dang I’m just trying to sell my collection, I sell most for like 50% the value
@@L3tsFnGoDumDuM depends on the cards, low end stuff it’s gonna be tough to move at a good percentage but if it’s nice then you should be able to get more
@@TRIKESportsCards no, they’re no where near as nice as the ones u got .. mine are just from when I was younger and some I got out of packs. Makes me think I can get more but I also just wanna just move them
I buy for 75%

Pokemon is repackaged gambling. I've spent $1500.00 and pulled $250. I sold 1 card for $40.00 I'm still sitting on the rest and months have passsed. I tried to see what all the hype in this hobby was about. I just don't get it.
Have you determined that your audience needs to hear you define what card grading is? I assume your market is not that brand new to the hobby
@@CTPEP6 my repeat audience generally knows what grading is, but the analytics show me more than 60% of viewers aren’t subscribed to me and quite often these videos reach people who aren’t hardcore into the hobby. So short answer is yes, not everyone in my total viewership knows what grading is
@@TRIKESportsCards interesting!
JESUS loves you
Made to order rarities. Total cash grab. These are the penny stocks of card collecting. Not investments.
You need to pay 70% to make a reasonable profit on most cards when you buy them, let alone collections.
@@One2ManyCards yeah that’s true. I’ve learned that more and more
