This is hands down the most impressive cover I have seen. That song is 13 freaking minutes and there aren't many parts for you to relax and lose focus for even a moment. I can't imagine how much skill and patience it requiered for you to nail it. Just unbelievable.
Also, that cover makes me want a 7 string soo badly but I'm afraid that the B string is going to be in the way when playing 6 string songs. What's your opinion on that?

I Don't think that the seven string guitar will be a problem for you to play six string songs, unless you are used to play with you left hand thumb on fretboard like John Mayer or Tommy Emmanuel.
its actually not that hard to keep the 7th string muted. depending on where you're playing. either your palm can mute it well along with your right index finger if you're on the 6th
Get a 7-string, best decision I made
Def get a 7 string. I started playing them pretty much exclusively around 13 years ago. After the first week or two of playing it and getting used to it, I never found the B string in the way when I was doing 6 string chugging/chords.
The thing you absolutely nailed is the rythmic placement of the parts. For example the Arpeggio Section in the intro or the Triplet Rythm Parts you played in the middle register. It is not easy to master those parts, especially at that speed. Congratulations, I hope I will be able to play this song this well at the end of 2017. Keep it up :)

I recommend the Ytse Yam video from him as well. one of the first videos I saw from him. Or the Overture one. @ Nonato I wonder how you achive that voluminous fat sound - at that speed. When Im becoming faster I always have the feeling that I havnt enough time when pressing the string to let the string vibrate proper, you know what I mean? Or do yo compensat that with reverb? Sorry for asking so direct XP
@@endeshaw1000 I would say that it's not only a technical problem. When it comes to the guitar tone, the technique is important, but guitar tone also. At the time I recorded this video I was using a POD HD500 which had a decent nice, crispy and defined distortion sound. Like a good mesa boogie. Also consider the quality of the guitar pickups. It will make a huge difference regarding the definition of the tone. Sorry for the late answer!

i've been playing arround like 15 years atm, but i have trouble to remember all the little parts from a long riff. How's the best way to remember long phrases and long riffs like the ending of this song, for example?
@@AbelTana I like to study by chunks. I repeat every single chunk of a long riff or phrase as slow as possible. Also I usually start by the last chunk, because normally it is what we may practice less. After becoming comfortable with each slowly played chunk, you can try to join couples of chunks and repeat the same process (from the last one, until the beginning. I do like this and works for me, I believe you can try this approach. Maybe using this strategy you can improve your "fingering memory". Besides that, I do recommend you to listen a lot the parts that you're studying and try to sing, even if you're not a singer (I'm not too...). This can help you to memorize in another way, more deep, more musical.I hope that this can help you! Have a nice day!
