Petrucci looks good with short hair. Rudess looks like Dave Grohl. This is probably the best full-on metal song DT have ever done. It's by far the best track on 6 Degrees and has more great riffs in it than most bands - even the very good ones - manage in a whole album. A tour de force by Petrucci, but especially by Myung. He plays absolutely brilliantly on this song.
heroicfame keep hope, the current world tour (2014) set list includes The Shattered Fortress, which is part of TS Suite and also was written by MP- i don´t see why they couldn´t play it.
Tadej Sustarsic 4 songs from new album, Nightmare to Remember, In the Presensce Of Enemies pt 1, Pull me under and whole Metropolis pt 2: Scenes from Memory
How does Portnoy keep that energy and power through 2 and a half hours of these complex amazing songs? He's just a monster, and he's better than ever now with the Winery Dogs.
...that's one of the beauties of progressive rock bands.....I find it hard to get sick of the songs. DT, Tool, Jethro Tull, etc. You can listen over and over again and hear something new each time!
I find LaBrie as a great vocalist, he had many phases in life where he sang differently, I don't know if I am correct, but I feel it's true, rest is all good when it comes to present condition of his voice, he sounds great.
Yeah, he broke his vocal chords just before 1995 awake tour, and later on around 2000. After that he's been sounding really awesome. Although Chaos on motion dvd sounded terrible, don't know why.
Atte Leppikangas for me chaos in motion was poorly produced. the idea of getting diferent video from diferent shows in diferent countries didn't quite work because these videos ended up looking (and sounding if i recall) amateurish. so the dvd for me wasn't solid and consistent like for example the score dvd (the best for me), but still it was a good watch. James has come a long way, i think he has become better along with the band. I mean listem to him in Dream Theater album, and the new DVD at Luna Park. He may had some problems in the past, but we all have problems at some point, and that's ok because we're human.
Score is my favourite as well, it's simply magnificent. There's some really good Labrie performances in Luna park too, although i think the overall mixing could've been done better.
The one thing I really like about this song is that it's one of the few songs that James can ALWAYS sing properly on. It's a very atypical DT song with no high wailing and no normal riffing. Six Degrees is a really good album.
I have had the pleasure of seeing DT on several occasions, and not once did I ever come away thinking LaBrie let the band down.... far from it. In fact, he sounded really good in Manchester on the recent tour. And as for Portnoy, love the guy but get over it. DT for me in the beginning was all about Petrucci, and Moore. Moore left, life went on. Mangini is here and the last two albums have sounded better for the new lease of life DT have been given. Great to see DT all looking in great shape, and having fun on stage on the last two tours.
I don't understand how drummers like Portnoy can wear long sleeve shirts and pants and drum the way they do without dying of heat exhaustion and not even look like they're breaking a sweat.
The bass sound was so weak! Turn it louder! Damn the bass solo part is the best part of the song. It got ruined here. Ugh. The studio version is probably the best cleanest version they ever did.
@Crim122 same here man, i came home that night and listened to dream theater until i had to go to school the next day and told everyone i knew about the band 95% of em never heard of em and now are huge fans, This is one of the perfect songs to induct people into the world of a DT fan
I am 15, my father told me of the prog rock bands like van der graaf generator, king crimson, genesis, elp, etc. At first, I did not like but, when i listen again I had start to like more and each time more. I did search about prog bands and discover the actual prog bands of metal, and showed to my father. He liked, gets happy to know that still exists prog. Now, we will go see a Dream Theater concert on Jul 17 (they will come to Portugal) with my brother, age 13, who starts enjoying too :D
8:03 James trying to break through the glass prison
blastdude89 hahahahaha
+blastdude89 Or fending off non-existent female fans of Dream Theater. (Kidding)
+blastdude89 FUCK YOU GLASS PRISON EAT THIS UNGH UNGH UNGH UNGH UNGH UNGH
And Portnoy be like "The fuck, dude?" right after. xD
On As I Am live at budokan James winds up and absolutely annihilates the air with a single blow.
My 6 year old daughter said "That girl playing the bass is good!"
I love my kid :-)
Amazingly Randy and now she's eleven
And now she’s 13
Jhon Miyung
And now She's NOONE FUCKING CARES
The bassist is also a very quiet girl. 🤭🤭
LaBrie does an impressive job in this video. :)
Bringing it with those tambourine riffs

Is that japan guy, right?
+Dude wtf yes :)
_KHAAAAAAAAAAAHHH..._
-The other japan guy.
David + "Fuck!!"
HOLLOWOXDT1 are you the guy japan from the documentary live at budokan?
This is probably the loudest I've ever heard Myung. They need to always have him turned up this loud.
It varied quite a bit throughout the song. I feel like the audio was captured from the desk so that it couldn't be remixed later.
God damn, Labrie in his prime here. The whole band sounds fuckin' amazing.
Haha. Good one.
Wow, what a performance. James sounds absolutely stunning.
One of the first UA-cam-videos!
All right!! And still badass song
Now look at you after so long looking at this comment
Yes it was.
Anyone who still watches today?
Yeah and it's an amazing performance
Yes, and it is just amazing
I listen to this song at least once a day but haven't seen a live performance of it til now 😅
Yes 😂
Yup
this is a classic they should play it more frequently on tours.
Unfortunately with Mike Portnoy gone, that won't be an option. The Glass Prison was part of the Twelve Step Suite, which depicts his alcoholism.
heroicfame keep hope, the current world tour (2014) set list includes The Shattered Fortress, which is part of TS Suite and also was written by MP- i don´t see why they couldn´t play it.
they will probably play it during the images and words tour this year

James sounds really good in this performance!
That air-punching part is the most amazing thing I've ever seen
Check out as I am in budokan. James delivers one massive blow and the air in Japan has never recovered
Absolute the BEST Dream Theater live song EVER!!!!
How does Portnoy keep that energy and power through 2 and a half hours of these complex amazing songs? He's just a monster, and he's better than ever now with the Winery Dogs.
10:13 JP effortlessly switching from neck pickup to bridge pickup between the solos and rhythm s
after all these years, still my favourite dream theater song
At 5:48, who let Tom Morello on the stage?
That made me laugh more than it should have!
What a bass performance! Still one of his best, and my favorites
WELCOME BACK PORTNOY
Mike's groove is so perfect! the only guy can play this track !
The hardest guitar line in the Dream Theater catalog.
Best live version of "The Glass Prison"
Glad Mike got sober and I am so glad he is back in the band! Sucks that Charlie passed away though. :(

Yes. Yes. The Luna Park recording is not good, and the drumming just went out of the window. Very bad recording.
Drummerinthe Park here we part ways since i think Luna Park is a great DVD with a great and solid performance and sound.
I'm a midwife and when babies are delivered I play this to them overnight. Don't worry bro, people will be listening to this song for a long time.
This song has THE best solo section ever, I listen to it daily!
Do you still listen to it daily? How can you manage all that greatness?

5:10 The end of In My Darkest Hour
I can hear Myung louder on this than in Live at Luna Park.
This is the single best song of all time in the whole world. ever.
Holy shit the energy is incredible. They were at their absolute peak here.
The best song of the AA Suite. I hope they film them doing all 5 when they play Brazil next.
AMAZING! Labrie and Portnoy exchanging vocals is soooo cool!
I will have Myung's babies.

I think it would look sick if JP got this haircut with his full beard.
I'm trying to imagine what that would look like but I just cant
@@nachochez8527 Try picturing JP if he shaved the beard and got this haircut
deff one of Labrie's best moments...He is a great singer when it is the right moment... stop bashing him...
The most powerful drumming performance I've ever heard.
I've been depressed as shit lately, and the charisma of the lead singer cured it with all his antics on stage. 😅
Meth
Myung jams on bass like no one else AND manages to keep the hair out of his face. AMAZING!!!
December 2020.. This Video still the best
nice vocals, great bass, awesome drummer, great band it doesnt get any better!
Perhaps not the most proffesional video, but i think this is the best version of this song I've ever heard.

LOOOL. When James has nothing to do during the solo he rocks out the tamborine
OptimisticDeath The best I've ever noticed when the perform this song!
thats what most singers do. I have to give him props for rocking that tambourine for like 3 mins straight.
So glad I got to see them on this very tour when they passed through Cleveland. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
