  • Even though I had to paddle through some ice, the ice, in general, was out. I headed to McCrae Lake the night before the trip and it was indeed passable. I went home and started packing, elated to be able to finally get my new H2O canoe on the water, and to finally be able to do a backcountry canoe trip after a long inconsistent winter. With temperatures forecast over 30ºC, I was in my glory. I brought some tasty food, a good book, and enjoyed all the signs of Spring, along with some gorgeous sunsets and sunrises. Come along with me on my first canoe trip of the season, at McCrae Lake in Ontario.

    Thanks for these early videos. They help me decide what I need to do for the season. Since I always go to the same lake I know all the campsites and possible future campsites very well. I never have to deal with other campers because I am the only one there. I like to have the best possible location for reading my Emily Dickinson and doing my writing, not to mention watching the wildlife. I always pick up inspiration from watching your videos. Thanks for everything.

    What a great adventure, it’s always nice when the critters are around. Last night I was watching an old movie by the fire pit when I heard a ruckus in the bush and more than a dozen turkeys came walking through camp. Thanks for sharing your trip, and for picking up the trash. I do the same. Be well my friend.

    So cool with all the wildlife. To me that’s the best part of being out there. That was an amazing pink sky and overall beautiful scenery. Hope your shoulder keeps getting better so we get to see that sexy canoe out on the water. Lol😍

    Another fantastic video! Love all the wildlife. Funny how you say it's quiet - it might be people quiet, but all those critters have some amazing voices. Thanks for picking up the trash. Reminds me to be sure to put some bags in my pack...

      Thank you so much, Karen. I loved all the wildlife too, and I just got back from another trip and it was much much quieter, wildlife wise. Made me miss McCrae. Cheers !

    I loved watching these 2 videos soooo much. An easier trip but enough going on with the ice and portages. Your new canoe is beautiful! Nice work Jeff...whoever you are. 😉 I loved seeing all the wildlife! I have to say that I repeatedly laughed watching the Beavers. They swim soooo fast I kept picturing them having little electric trolling motors attached to their tails. ha. 😃 It really is amazing how fast they can swim.
    You and I have many similarities. I love that you say hello to wildlife and thank the land as you leave. I do something similar in that I always tell wildlife and the earth "I love you", because I do. But I always enjoy hearing your comments and acknowledgements of gratitude, recognitions and respect. And thank you for picking up others garbage they leave behind. It's hard to believe people still liter, especially in such a magnificent wilderness area. But I also appreciate your responsible example and a gentle reminder to everyone to do their part and be mindful to only leave footprints behind, nothing else.
    Looking forward to watching more videos. Your videos help calm me as I'm going through a very stressful period in my life right now. Thank you Christina! 💖🤗

      Such a wonderful comment to receive at the end of a long busy day. Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m so glad that you’re enjoying my channel in my videos. I like to do a mixture of easy trips, and harder trips. But the challenging ones are the ones that I really enjoy the most. Unfortunately, like most people, I work full-time, so I can only go out on so many 5 to 7 day adventures. But I do my best to get as much done as possible. You may not know this yet, but I also winter camp and have created my own hot tents to camp in. Lol.
      I’m so sorry you’re going through a stressful time right now and I’m glad that I can help in someway. Have a great day! Cheers.

      @@CamperChristina That arm pit peeper is hilarious too!!! A perfect name for it. ha. For some reason I always picture your full time job is a nurse. You have that calm way of approaching challenges. 🙂
      And such a great time of year to be camping...before all the biting bugs hatch. I have a low tolerance for biting bugs the older I get. They drive me crazy. And i don't understand why they were created...little haunting vampires! The poor animals that have to suffer them the entire summer! UGH!

      Lol thank you. Unfortunately, you only see a small part of my life. I work a full-time job just like everyone else, I own a home, I have chores to do, I have struggles and health issues, and many weekends I force myself to go out because I know once I get there, it will make me happy. Life is hard for everyone. You just have to do the best you can and make yourself as happy as possible. I hope you find that. Peace back to you. 😊😊😊

    Great trip. A few too many people for my liking but very cool to see all the wildlife. Still waiting for ice to clear up north here but the forecast says three days of rain ahead so that should help clear the rest if it. And yes, beavers are very talkative when they pair up like that. Learned a lot about them from Grey Owls books. Hoping to get my ice out trip done in another week and a half. Got some bigger trips planned this summer as well.

    • @CamperChristina
      @CamperChristina  Рік тому +1

      Sorry, they were too many people here for your liking. It was the same for me but I got out on a canoe trip in April. The location is due to the weather and getting out on a trip somewhere that does not have ice. In my opinion, it is better than not getting out at all and sitting around waiting for the ice to go out where I’d prefer to go. Thanks for watching.

      Thank you so much, Richard. Yes I was quite pleased with all of the amazing things I got to see. I just actually got back from a one night trip in a different location and I only saw some buffleheads, a goose, and a muskrat. I barely heard any peepers, and even the birds were very quiet. Strange. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Cheers !
