  • As soon as crown land reopened this summer, we hit the road with the kids for some canoe camping, portage hiking, cliff jumping family adventures. We weren't sure we'd be able to find a campsite with so many people running to the outdoors, but we had to try!

Cool video that cliff is insane. I was wondering if you have to reserve a camp site.orcan you just go anywhere and camp, Im hoping to do a 5 day trip up there with some friends.

It’s first come first serve free crown land camping on McDonald Lake & McCrae Lake, so, as long as we’re not under stay at home orders anymore and it’s open (they closed crown land last spring due to virus restrictions), then you’re good to go! It can sometimes get crazy busy, especially on long weekends, but there’s usually always somewhere to put your tent!

Unfortunately, many people forget about ‘leave no trace’ camping here. Please always remember to respect campers around you and to pack out EVERYTHING you bring in! 😊

@@AdventuresWithTheHills thanks for the info! I’m planning to go this upcoming July, hopefully covid will die down a bit. But this place sounds really fun, is there any parking fee you have to pay or something or is it completely free. Im so used to having to book camp sites and going through the payment processes.

Ya, it’s weird, but awesome. Parking is free. There’s a long narrow parking lot off the highway on ramp from Georgian Bay Rd. If it’s full, you have to park back on the rd (not the on ramp) so you don’t get ticketed. Again, it’s busy on weekends, so come during off peak times if you can!

Hello, Thanks for the video! Looks like you had fun. Is there any information source you would give for a first time camper with a 6 & 4 yr old?
