    Jim just got this program and am completely blown away by it power and ease of use. One really interesting feature that maybe you could look at is how well Super Resolution works and compare it to other resolution enhancers like Gigapixel. Also I have found the ML enhance feature to be amazing as a starting point to correct issues with photos. Also if people watch out they can get it for $20 as it goes on sale a lot. Thanks for your great videos.

    Hey Jim thank you so much for doing these videos, it has been a little helpful but this is all fairly new to me. I am kinda struggling using the layers, masks and knowing how to make shapes that I can add to other images. Like editing a photo with a sail boat in it but half of the sail is missing, my question is how do I add the missing section and match it to the original section of the sail? Keep in mind that as your doing the vids that we cannot see as easily as you, as to where your clicking at it’s takes a few seconds to figure our where your pointer is or to know where you’re going. Again thx for the great work.

      @andyhughes073 3 роки тому

      @@JimNix I’ve given it a test drive, and for sure it’s solid. Not sure it will fit that well into my current editing ecosystem though. I’ve actually gravitated back to Lightroom after a 2 year journey to try everything else out there. For me Adobe have done enough performance enhancements recently for LrC and the photo management and workflow aspect with other software is still the best and that outweighs the catalog issue for me. If folks are looking for a (big) step up from the native Photos app, Pixelmator is it for sure. For those who want to keep it simple, they could use Photos as the DAM/photo management and Pixelmator Pro as their editor, the workflow between the two is pretty slick.

      Stephen, oddly enough since i updated mac os some of my raf files will not thumbnail correctly and sometimes give that error. Those raf files will not load on pixelmator. However, my standard uncompressed raf files load fine in pixelmator. For a period of time i compressed my raf files and that was problematic. I shoot an x100f and an xt 20. When i get home i will look further into it.

      @@scottgray4877 yes I do use compressed raw images and I have no problems with Adobe products, Capture One and others. But some such pixelmator and acdsee don't work and are not warning people on their websites either. In fact they suggest that their products do work when in fact they don't. They should be more specific about which types of raw files they do support on which operating systems, or at least have that info in their FAQs or support forums for us to find.

    Moi aussi!
    I do have to start by saying that downloading & installing it was a very confused and time consuming process. However, that's over now.
    NOTE - for anyone who cares, Pixelmator works on either & both of 32bit & 64bit systems - so it doesn't matter if you're on Catalina or one of the earlier versions of Apple AMC operating systems.
    I don't miss LR's library function - in fact I've always hated it, because of it opening an image was idiotically over complicated.
    But like you, Adobe's been steadily driving me away, as more and more alternative programs that are easier, more fun, more flexible, more powerful, more "featured up", and less expensive, keep coming out into the market.
    And Pixelmator includes some amazing features. One in particular, which has HUGE appeal for me, is the control over "black". I love doing "available light", after dark - and that tool is WONDERFUL. A great "assist" in denoising extreme shadow areas. By denoising in something like Affinity or Topaz Denoise, then coming back here to "tweak" the resulting blacks - the result is stunning!

    I am Windows user so a Mac only app is not on my radar.

      Makes perfect sense. I looked at Zoner Photo Studio and it's Windows only, so I know the feeling. 😁

    Why in the world would any software developer in todays world make an app or any software that only works on one platform?

      Hi Tim and I can't comment on that, as I have no idea. They make a great app, and I guess they are content to keep it Mac-only.

      I would suspect it's because it would be most likely an almost complete re-development. If you start your development using the Apple Swift development environment (which makes sense since you can easily deploy your app on Apple mobile devices) the transition of the resulting Swift app to other desktop OSs like Windoze and Linux is not a simple process. While there is a Swift on Windoze project, it still is seems to be in early beta, mainly due to the fact that not only the language (compiler) needs to be ported (which exists, not sure to what level of completeness), but all the supporting libraries, artwork, etc. need to be ported as well.
      Edit: With Swift 5.3 there is since spring 2020 a production level compiler, yet the UI and some house keeping functions are still not available. No word from Apple whether they would support a UI port to Windoze.
