You explained it well..I usually usse the polygon tool to cut out the person but this looks even easier and more accurate
thanks for watching!
Great Video! I've had Pixelmator for a couple years now and I'm still learning the ins and outs. Before, I had a monthly subscription to Lightroom and I cannot stress how much better software this is! Thanks for the quick tutorial.
Hi Michael and thanks much! It is an incredible product, very powerful and so versatile too. Glad you are enjoying using it!
I have a question. In Quick Selection tools, when i use new it just let me use one touch. Only add features let me select other area continously. How could I fix that.
So glad you have discovered Pixelmator Pro Jim, this video couldn't have come at a better time for me. Many thanks
Oh great Anne, glad to hear that and have fun with it!
This is awesome. The company that I was working at had the Adobe suite and it's what I've used for years. Once I was laid off during the whole covid epidemic I purchased the Affinity suite because it was the closet I could get tot he suite. Then today, I came across this video and was like WOW when I saw Pixelmator Pro's masking abilities. I just purchased this program as well thanks to you. I can't wait to dive in. Thanks for an awesome video.
Thanks for watching and for sure Pixelmator is pretty darn amazing.
Thank you so much for this video. 😊👍🏼
thanks for watching!
Hi Jim, thanks for this great little tutorial. Helped me a lot and I am looking forward to the others
Thanks for watching Jens and glad it helped! More soon.
Jim I purchased this product and have not used Photoshop so the tools and buttons you are selecting are not familiar. This edit was great, but I couldn't look to the tool bar quick enough to see which tool or button you were using... Also have not found any Pixelmator Pro tutorials that go into depth enough to learn this product. I am looking forward to more tutorials; but please slow down a touch or use something that highlights your cursor so we can see what you are doing.
Hi Vince and I hope you enjoy it, and thanks for watching. Good points, it is new to a lot of folks and I can slow down etc. Thanks!
Great stuff. Please, give a deep dive on working with layers.
thanks much Frank and it is on the list of things to investigate for future videos - I appreciate the feedback
I love your channel sir. Thank you for these tips.
glad you like them and thanks!
Another great video Jim, totally agree with you, I have had this since it's beginnings in 2007 but never used it. But after the Luminar fiasco, I rediscovered this app, updated it and so happy I did. Love it and waiting for more of your superb tutorials to do some more advanced editing!
Thanks Angelo, I appreciate it and it is a great app with a lot of power and flexibility. I definitely plan to explore it in more depth. Thx!
Thanks for doing these tutorials.
thanks for watching Lysander!
Great job. Looking forward to more on Pixelmator Pro. Sticking to this same topic maybe do a deep dive that covers the refine functionality.
Thanks much and will cover more for sure!
thanks a lot. please make more...
thanks for watching and I will do more for sure!
Awesome tutorial. But here's the thing: you can get an app on an iPad that does exactly the same thing and is easier to use. That being said, I bought this app for my MacBook and I enjoy learning new skills.
thanks much and yes there are some pretty amazing iOS apps out there these days
Great tutorials. Could you explore and demonstrate the hows of masking? Thanks
Thanks much and I will put that on the list of future topics to explore. Thanks.
Hi Jim, I really love this app, is very light, fast and easy to use but I think there must be a polygonal lasso tool, I tried this tool and the edges are not perfect, I've been searching how to remove background when there's hair, thanks for this video, I would like to see more, and if is possible with pixelmator work on mask as photoshop
Hi Reggie and thanks for watching. There is a polygonal selection tool for selecting objects, but I am not sure about removing a background with hair as I am not that well versed with the app just yet. Maybe do a search for that one? There are some tutorials on the Pixelmator site. Thanks!
Always enjoy your videos, Jim! Your background replacement demo in Pixelmator Pro has really piqued my interest. I'm kind of a photo app junkie anyway, so I'll have to try this on my MacBook Pro. Thanks!
thanks Geoff and it's just a really powerful and fun app, and pretty cheap too! have fun!
Great product Jim. You had be sold. Unfortunately it's only for Macs. Too bad, it looks great.
Hi Andre and yes it is Mac only, sorry.
Hi Jim, sorry to pester you again but how do you rate Pixelmator Pro when compared to ON1 purely as photo editor, as opposed to comparing them as image manipulators - if that makes sense. I already own Affinity Photo on the desktop but, while its Photo Persona is great, its RAW editor doesn’t work for me for certain reasons. Superb video, btw.
Hi there and thanks, and both are good as editors but I would prefer On1 for various reasons, not the least of which is that it just has so much included in it (denoise, resize, a solid catalog, plus all the editing tools etc).Pixelmator Pro is fun and capable but if I had to pick one, it would be On1. Thanks.
@@JimNix Got it thanks.
thanks
thanks for watching!
Hi Jim, great demo of Pixelmator Pro masking. I have a request, please can you do me some text domos as well..
Many thanks, Peder
thanks Peder and I will add that to the list of options, I appreciate it!
Can you do background replacement with luminar ai? If so please answer me and if possible make a video about it. Thanks
No you can't really do this in Luminar AI bc there are no layers. You could attempt it with the texture local mask but it's not really the same.
@@JimNix ok thanks
@@krishavshah2369 you bet
Jim how do you stop the a tool you are using when your done like the magnetic selection , when I slide it over it continues to draw lines?
Just wondering Jim, does it work as a plugin for other applications, Lightroom for example.
Good question and I haven't tried it yet. I found the below item that mentions using it with LR, but since I am leaving LR I didn't even think about it. But I suspect I can get to it from On1 and DxO considering how you can add external editors to them, but again I haven't tried it yet. www.pixelmator.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17531
When I delete after inverting selection - it deletes the whole layer. Trying to wrap my head around this :(
Edit: Found out the reason: it doesn't work on RAW. The process worked fine with jpegs.
Glad you got that sorted!
How do I create a transparent background?
I'm not sure offhand as I haven't done that in Pixelmator. Just Google it, I feel sure it can be done.
Looks like it is Mac only and $40
Yes on both.
@@JimNix what Mac is it?
@@leocasi405 it works on any Mac, is that the question? It is built for the Mac OS only, not Windows.
