    This was a great time to be a Chargers fan. You couldn't go anywhere in San Diego without seeing people wearing Chargers jerseys, one of the few things that brought San Diegans together. There was a pride in the team, and the city that was lost when they left, it's just doesn't feel the same. Driving by the Murph on the way to Fry's and admiring our stadium; yeah it was a dump, but it was our dump.
    RIP to the San Diego Chargers, and RIP to Jack Murphy Stadium.

    I was there, in the corner of the end zone, hoarse from screaming. It seems both like yesterday ... and 100 years ago. Agree that it 2006 was their last chance to make the SB under a Spanos regime. Sad, but the Bolts beating up on the Broncos still makes me smile :)

    Its so bittersweet watching this particular 14-2 SanDiego chargers team from '06. Being just a 12 year old kid at the time, it meant so much more to me. SD easily had the #1 offense, and they were just as good as anyone on defense as well, with a top 1-5 defense (id say they wer the 3rd best Dfence, but if u, rewatch the CIN/SD game youl hear the gamecallers say SD's Dfense was ranked #1) and they had a great coach w/great team chemistry. Such a heartbreaking ending vs NE. And its not like they overestimated them or "werent ready for playoffs". , they fought their godamm ass off and even outplayed them and looked better than them, but thats football, they just lost when it counted. Theres SEVERAL unlucky and wierd things that went NE's way & SD eventually fcked up. God they were too good for that ending, and if they were any team but the chargers, they would be way more well recognized as an all time great team with a devastating unexpected choke loss in the playoffs

      @lukerbom12 8 років тому +1

      Definitely the TDs. There's not a lot of workhorses anymore and even when there are, EVERYTHING has to go right to have a series like this. Tomlinson's second-highest total was 17.
      Nowadays, if a running back has 15 touchdowns, he'll usually lead the league that year. I can't even remember anyone getting 20 since 2006. LeSean McCoy might have a few years ago with the Eagles, but I just feel like this record of 28, and 31 TDs overall, will NEVER be broken.

    Very underrated Chargers team in 2006. One of the best teams ever not to win it all . They were complete in just about every way. Phillip Rivers was very young at the time I believe it was his first year starting after Drew Brees was traded , but it was still a potent offense with Antonio Gates and L.T. running the ball he had one of the best year’s ever as a running back. Their defense besides the Ravens and Bears , was one of the best in the league. They went 14-2 that year . Their only weakness probably was at wide out that year . They should’ve represented the AFC in the Super Bowl that year against the Bears . They lost to a depleted Patriots team with a young Tom Brady . This team should be talked about a little bit more under that what if category along with the 1998 Vikings. Only thing is that Vikings team sucked on defense, they had a much better offense with Randy Moss then the Chargers did at that time.

    Man other than a young Vincent Jackson and Antonio Gates, the Chargers didn't really have any other good receivers on this team to throw to!

      Will Finnegan Floyd never got his chance until 2007-2008 and that was after they traded for Chris Chambers even with McCardell being injured in this game Osgood was rarely given any opportunities to play on offense

    Got to watch a Marty Ball practice before pre season and there is ONE rule Marty demanded of anyone on field with hands on hips would be dismissed from field to sit aside the sidelines. The Defensive unit was truly a no nonsense Defense of always flying to the ball while opposing players getting pancaked on Offense and Defense on every play. And this Defense didnt have Jr Seau due to Jr not the type of player Marty liked from his KC Days when Marty use to lead Jr into position he was not around the ball( MNF SD vs KC of the game the coaches had to question Jr,s decisions of getting away from original assignment) It was Jr s worst game but a point on how Marty got Defense's to play the game as a whole unit.
