Man this year was so fun the best time ever being a Chargers fan during regular season then the playoffs happened.

I can’t blame Nate Kaeding for missing the field goal in the 2006 playoffs. It’s the 2009 3 misses against the jets that kill me. Rivers never had any luck.

I cant really name one playoff loss in that year span that was solely his fault, i dont understand your point of him underperforming brady in the playoffs, he actually plays better than brady when facing him in the postseason. Rivers is a choker and has a pathetic playoff career!!! The never set the team up for success and was never able to take this team over the hump!
Only the smartest franchises fire their head coach after a 14-2 season. I really hope this new era doesn’t suffer from the same idiotic front office mistakes from before.
He was clearly F'ing up when it mattered..... I mean, us firing McCarthy was LOOONNNGG overdue considering he accomplished no SB with a god tier prime QB for nearly a decade.. Plenty of really good regular season runs. Our new coach is far worse sadly

@@phillipowens3612 The 2009 Chargers was such a weird year. I remember our Defense was sooooo trashy. Shawn Merriman and Jamal Williams were injured all year and Cromartie fell off hard. Shaun Phillips was like the only good player. On offense, LT become a non-factor and we no longer had Chris Chambers. Yet, they won close games and were 13-3. Mainly because of Rivers, Gates, Jackson, and a surprisingly good O-line. But heading into the playoffs, I really had no faith with that defense and lack of running game. I saw that first round exit coming.

I agree 1000th precent. When I moved there in 1973 I was instantly a charger fan and Dan Faust fan.... continued to this day. I am pretty impressed with the new quarterback but will see how it goes, so far good. I agree with everything that you said... I guess you just to wait and see

I was 15 years old this season. I hung each sports page from the Union Tribune on my wall as we won all of those games that season. Marlon, you made me cry. I loved my San Diego Chargers.

Worst ending to a season EVER. This team should've steamrolled through the AFC playoffs to a Super Bowl victory. UGH.
You didn't have the worst season ever , the Minnesota Vikings have had the last five years under Mike ZIMMER a total wasted of years. Now there will another five years of wasted football because COUSINS can't seem to understand that you throw a football to the receiver and they run for touch downs... People in Minnesota are so discouraged and disappointed in the team and we have a billion stadium. I live in Minnesota and sometimes like the Vikings but a die hard Charger fan. That's one more reason I love San Diego and then there's Ocean Beach. Did they tear down the stadium where the chargers used to play.

Man, that might be the team I fell in love with as a little 6 year old boy, I’m sure it all started with a huge game against Broncos and I remember it was at night, so I’m going to say it was that week 11 comeback, my dad and I were so excited about it and he’s a 49er. An MVP, a great team, a huge game and a bad ass uniform it’s all it took to let me know that that was the team I was gonna support for the rest of my life.

Man THIS right here! The San Diego SUPER CHARGERS⚡️2006 was one of our best seasons ever. For me as a fan being a 14 yr old kid from SD and finally understanding every aspect of the sport this season was epic to me. We should’ve went all the way that year, every player on that roster deserved a super bowl win for them and our city. They’ll always be the San Diego Super Chargers to us loyal fans!
It hurts every day. I was like 19 during this season. Best chance in my lifetime to win a superbowl. Besides 94 but I was a new fan back then. This season changed everything. I don't think the chargers would have left SD if Marty wasn't fired that season. or even a superbowl. Who knows. We're wating for a new coach. Maybe we will get the next Marty in Harbaugh. I guess we'll see.

I was just 15 years old im 28 now still my favorite squad lots of great memories that season felt special just like LT said even though we didn't win the chip we sure as hell had some Championship moments. This was the year I really became a charger fan. LT single handedly destroying other teams was my favorite to watch, haven't seen anything like it since.

Man, 2006 the Chargers were stacked on both sides of the ball. The team was ridiculous. Literally every position was strong. This was the only year the O-Line was strong. I loved the defense in 2006.

Or they wouldn’t have dropped that interception? Is the suggestion that Marty wasn’t coaching them on that stuff and was just fucking around at practice? Again I know you gotta have a good coach but at the end of the day it’s the players. Dumb decision to fire Marty.

I'll never forget this season as I graduated in San Diego in '06 and have been a chargers fan since I was a kid and I literally live in the apartments directly across the old stadium currently
Saw the tile for this video when it got posted, but it took me a few days before I actually clicked on it. Great season and had a lot of fun times during this year.
2020 chargers greatly remind me of the 2006 chargers
The season goes that LT makes history we go 14-2 and just because the guy who intercepted the ball from Brady felt like running with it instead of going down to chew the clock we loss to the pats and then we cry because this was the only season the chargers could have won the super bowl.
The only time LT was ready AND healthy for a playoff run..
I remember watching the game at Cincinnati with my mom and we were both cheering like crazy 🙌🏼 good times
i went to the week 9 comeback vs. Cincinnati. had to drive down from Ontario by myself ....the absolute best memory of my football life. Rivers, LT, VJ, Malcolm Williams Merriman, Jammer, Philips. so fun to watch these guys

Reliving this still hurts. Next two opponents would've been:
1. Colts -- Chargers had their number (2005 they spoiled the Colts perfect win record, 2007 they intercepted Manning SIX times in one half, 2008 playoffs 8-8 Chargers upset Colts in OT)
2. Rex Grossman and the Bears

Crazy how this team didn’t atleast make it to the SB… I put them in the same category of teams 84 Dolphins, 98 Vikings as teams I feel should’ve won it all.

This year gets me more than these damn 4 and 5 win seasons we’ve been having. To me it seems like our defense has been missing a piece or two that hasn’t made us elite. This year I think is going to be one of the best teams we’ve had. A fast covering linebacker in the draft, 3 pro-bowl cornerbacks, arguably the best safety in the game, arguably a top 3 edge rushing duo, and added a double teamer in Linval. I hope that these 2nd and 3rd year players can step up and make this defense scary ⚡️⚡️
I wish I were the age I am now to have been able to watch that season and remember everything. my dad remembers how awesome it was to be a Chargers fan that year. I remember watching a few games with him and each one was better than the next! Regardless, I’m a diehard Chargers fan thanks to my dad!

The #1 Offense of 2006 Folks. Ladanian Tomlinson MVP. It sucks there's no full games in HD on UA-cam besides the Playoff game no Charger fan wants to watch. I just love great football to watch recorded in offseasons; and these Chargers don't have uploads. The great running teams of 2000's are hard to appreciate.
Reminds me of the 2019 Ravens lol, all the hype with a superstar MVP (LT and Lamar), all to be crushed and be one and done despite being the 1 seed and home field advantage

This reminds me more of the 1998 Minnesota Vikings in there league's championship game with the screw up being kicker Gary Anderson. The 2006 Chargers screw up not a kicker but instead line backer Marlin Macree. Both those games were never blowouts but ended in 3 point victories. The 2019 Ravens game was a complete blowout, not even close to these two games.
Now, those jerseys are one of my all time favorites . Idk what it was??? But the yellow lining outside and around the numbers and that dark Charger blue gave that Jersey a pop n shine thats made it unique to all others. N still my personal favorite till this day. Thank u. Just thought id share that.
