    GET TICKETS TO SEE THE GREAT HALL OF THE GEM!
    From February 17-24, the GEM's Great Hall and commercial area will be open to the public as part of a special art exhibition. This is your chance to get a sneak peek inside the museum if you are in Cairo these dates!
    It seems like these events could be happening more and more often as time goes on, so stay posted if you will not be in Egypt until later this winter/spring, as there might be another special event happening.

    Gus
    Great report... Thanks!
    In my opinion; this looks massive, a direct representation of the Great Pyramids. Is a direct familiarity when you see the Pyramid in the background, your eyes goes direct to the strength and size of the GEM and viceversa. Due the visual proximity, it make you feel that you are going inside of "modern" one.
    This will be the best museum in the world. Not surprise if a tour is dedicated for few days just for the GEM, with expediate special showings.
    Again, great job on the report.

    This looks amazing! I do wish that the front of the building looked less like a box with a few pyramids and had more aspects of ancient Egyptian architecture, but I see how they are trying to blend old and new. Would love to visit Egypt someday

    During this time of Transition, are some exhibits at the old museum closing down as they are transported to this new museum? Like if we travel before this opens, would we miss a lot of museum content because it's in transition? (PS: Loving your content.)

      The Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square will always remain open, and there is still tons to see there. That museum will not close, even if some areas are being worked on as some objects move to the GEM, some move out of storage and are put on display, and others are moved around. It is still definitely worth a visit.

      @hraslan Рік тому +2

      The Egyptian Museum in Downtown will remain open and has its own collections. Each museum will have a focus so the Civilization Museum has mummies of great kings and queens heros who fought and defeated Hiksos along with items from other periods Greeko Roman, Copitc and Islamic.

    I just pray when this opens the govt weed out those annoying hasslers, beggers. minders that annoy you for money to take you for a guided tour.... My trip was ruined to Cairo because I was constantly hassled for services that didnt require any assistance. Hopefully this museum will save you more time from being outdoors in the scorching sun touring the pyramids.

    • @EgyptAdventuresTravel
      @EgyptAdventuresTravel  Рік тому +2

      Considering the area inside the GEM is totally closed off, I don't think it will be similar to all of the vendors inside the Giza Plateau, at least, I hope not! This is why I always recommend first-timers to Egypt or those not fluent in Egyptian Arabic use a local guide or go with a company to help keep all of the hassle at bay. I'm sorry you had that experience :(

      I suggest you have a stable income from outside and you will be fine here , we are facing an economical crisis the Egyptian pound value dropped heavily so now 1 dollar worth 31 Egyptian pounds
      So if you have 700 💲a month from outside you won’t even need a job here in Egypt you can rent a very good apartment with 350💲 and live with the other 350💲

    I visited the pyramids in 2004 and i made a promise to myself that i will never visit that country again, due to the big mess cairo is. It was a real disaster spending the week there; beggars everywhere, noise, no rules, no safety and very dirty city overall. But this is really a game changer for me, it is making me want to revisit and see how Cairo has improved since then.

    • @EgyptAdventuresTravel
      @EgyptAdventuresTravel  Рік тому +1

      I wasn’t in Egypt back in 2004, but Cairo is still chaotic today. I would definitely say that there is a general sense of safety about the city, so I would never tell tourists to worry about safety.
      I hope you are able to revisit when the GEM is fully open!
