you did so well considering you had been very sick the days leading up to it. you are such an inspiration to lots of riders. love seeing how much hard work you put into the sport you deserve to be rewarded for it 💕
You still did great! After falling off my horse twice in the same week my trainer said a pass in horse riding is 30% and if you fall off and survive you’ve still passed and if you fall off and die and people throw you an awesome funeral because people loved you you’ve still passed! I also appreciate it when people post when a ride didn’t go so well or when a comp didn’t go to plan because not everything goes perfect! 💜💜
I really felt for you! We all have those days and I appreciate you still making the vlog to show others that it’s okay and perfectly normal to have a bad day. Such a shame as his dressage looked lovely. I’m sure you’ll go out and smash it next time! X
at least you got out there and had a go!! look at this experience as not a bad weekend because it’s a great learning curve! every horse has their spooky days and cheeky days and i mean it’s all for learning purposes, especially how he seems like a handful and you just handle him so well you are such an inspiration :)
I really respect you for sharing this one with us as well! There are races like this, just keep on! Love what you do, you are my inspiration, I also work full time, have a 4 year old, spend my salary on her, and wanna start competing next year, so this is all waiting for me !
Aww honey...thx for sharing..your tears are making me cry too 😭.My hot TB does stuff like this too,its heart breaking and so frustrating..Chin up honey..on to the next one!!xx
Awww you poor darling it doesn't help when you haven't been feeling well either 😥 just try to focus on how far you've come. That rawness and disappointment will fade and you can look forward to the next comp ☺️❤
Huge hugs Ellie & Enzo. Thank you so much for sharing the ups and downs. So many variables come into play with horse riding and competing. But I agree with another comment that he did look a little sore in the dressage. Cant wait to see more of your journey together, even the best trained horses and riders have their off days and hiccups along the way🌻
Aw I know the feeling I promise, there will be days like this but there are better days ahead, you have done an amazing job with Enzo, chin up, exciting future for you guys, 🇨🇮🇨🇮🐴🐴
Awwww, Eli! I'm super proud and unfortunately some comps just arent it! never the less I'm so proud of you and I love how realistic you and your channel are! you're inspiring Eli
Apologies for the unsolicited opinion, they're generally unwanted in the horsey community, but it looked to me like he might be slightly off in the right hind? There was an ever so slight head nod at trot, and in the dressage test when you were trotting away from the camera it looked like his hip was dropping more to the right than it was the left, and just generally ever so slightly assymetrical in movement. It also looked like he found the canter harder going to the right as well. This of course is just what I could see from a few minutes of video, and I'm by no means professionally trained so take my opinion for what it is. I just thought I'd comment in case it is something worth noting and looking into. Well done for landing on your feet! And thanks for showing the less good sides of riding too, that takes courage!
Honestly, sometimes horses just have off-days like we do. You were feeling a little under the weather and maybe he did too, you never know. Can definitely tell he wasn't feeling it this time around but that's just horses for you, the downs make the ups that much better and it's important to remember that the results don't really matter at the end of the day. Your progress in your partnership is what it's all about and setbacks will happen along the way. I have one who is a super scopey show jumper and lovely mover for the dressage, but he's not too clever on his feet in the XC so we've come unstuck a few times! The last XC run we did, I had trained like a mad thing through water because we've had issues with it before. I was SO focused on the water jump and getting through it that I missed another jump and then when we came to the sunken road it was also full of water and he said NO THANK YOU. I stupidly persisted because I was like 'NO WE HAVE TRAINED THIS GET OVER YOURSELF' - and on the second attempt he dumped me 😅 I later realised it wasn't even a flagged element and we were only 2 jumps away from the finish 🤦♀️ So instead of just a minor blip missing a jump, it was complete chaos trying to catch my big red peanut on foot with a muddy ass lmao. Not our best moment... But I love him and wouldn't change the big twit for anything. Chin up, tomorrow is a new day 🙂
Falling off is normal these things happen and unfortunately horses have their mind of their own and if they don’t want to jump they won’t. Best thing my trainer has taught me is to never punish your horse if they haven’t jumped and you’ve fallen off. Your riding has improved so much and you can see it. I think in the show jumping he wants to go more and you’re holding him back. My big 6 year thoroughbred hated show jumping and beat thing I’ve ever done is to never hold him back. You can see you’re really holding your boy back a little in the show jumping.
Hey Eli. Sorry to hear you had a rough weekend - I came off on Saturday too so we can cry together 😁. Kudos for trying to push through when you weren't feeling well! I'm thinking you're aware of an issue with his right knee since he had a Back on Track boot on. He looked a bit off in your Friday ride and in your dressage. The running through you in the SJ could just be from him not feeling it. So don't beat yourself up about it. You're doing amazing with him 🥰
I know you are disheartened but try and take some positives away from the experience. One positive I noticed is his hind end has definitely improved! He looks like a very tough horse to ride in the jumping. I think you have given it a red hot go in a snaffle so I agree with you with maybe it's time to trial a different bit. Thank you for sharing the good moments and the not so good moments. We can all relate. 💕
Your a real one for going while sick!! I could never, but you guys did amazing. I know it’s so disheartening when it unfortunately doesn’t end up going the way we wanted but stay strong you guys looked awesome while you were out there!
He’s a beautiful horse. I rode some as a kid. Two things I have questions about. Why do horses need to have a bit in their mouth? And the angle of his neck seems unnatural. Aren’t both of these things cruel? It seems they both hurt horses. Thank you for answering my questions!
Well done! You were great for how you were feeling we can't always be on our game 💖 wondering if you follow AML Equestrian on social media she has some awesome techniques and exercises for all abilities definitely look at stepping back your show jumping training go back to basics and really get him nailed listening to you imo he's wanting to do what you're asking but he's not reaaally listening to what your wanting 😉 changing tack etc would be the the next step goodluck for your next show can't wait to see you both back out there 👍

Everyone has their tough days.. every horse person has been in your shoes. Keep your chin up, you’ll get em next time 😊❤️

Yep, back to training for the next one 🥰
You lived to fight another day. Chin up. Keep at it. Sometimes success is only found after we stumble over failure.😀😀
Thanks Lisa! We will keep training 🥰
You are such an inspiration a lot of riders. You were so good considering that you have been sick on the days leading up to the event
Moments like these will make the rest more worth it !
They sure will!
