I can't understate how important it is for a barn to be a COMMUNITY. A place of support, encouragement, and friendship. These are the people who will pick you up when you are down and surround you with comfort and love at critical times in your life. It seems like you have that with your people and it a beautiful thing to see. You did a wonderful job with Spider. I was happy to hear that you were able to lease him and are able to get back to the fun activities you have been missing.
Like you said, Spider is Ferrari and it takes time to get used to driving Ferrari, especially if you were barely driving for the last few years. Starting to jump again on a horse like Spider after your forced break couldn't have been easy. And you know what? I think you did magnificent job on your first competition! You didn't have a lot of time to prepare for it and it was your first time in this kind of environment with him, so of course it wasn't easy when he became more intense. And I'm glad it got better in the next few competitions. Can't wait for more content!
I'm so glad you pointed out Spider kind of 'locks-on' to jump. I kept getting nervous watching him before that but couldn't' understand why. It was that. Our barn had a horse who couldn't do jumps cause she was always do that. She had zero awareness once she locked, and would bulldoze any and everything.
Glad you’re back. Horses can be tough, I started to watch your channel when Tick Tak was born because I had a foal being born at the same time. I lost her. The horse I bought in my grief took me a year and a half to be able to ride him off property, After more setbacks than I can count. He’s doing great now and it’s worth it.
It's so strange watching today's riders/horse owners vs. when I owned and showed back in the mid and late 70s. It is so different! Back then, we were so tough and resilient, never having a panic attack before we went into the ring. We just did it without a thought and if we ate dirt, so be it. Horse owners now are so delicate and shaky. I see these videos of people buying a new horse and waiting WEEKS to integrate them with a herd or just putting them in a stall alongside other horses. When a new horse came into the stable when I owned horses, we didn't wait a single minute. Into the barn they would go, and trust me, no one became ill. Because these owners have become so delicate, so have the horses. I see so much evidence of injury and illness now where we didn't see it back in the day. It is sad and I feel sorry for the horses.
Spider is incredible! I'm so glad you ended up having a good experience with him! You my have been so nervous but you held it together! Can't wait to see what you two do!
I was so excited to see your video pop up today, and even more exciting to see you riding a horse 😂 So happy for you! Spider really is incredible, and you're a fantastic jumper. Can't wait to see what's next!
From what little riding experience i have, this is amazing! And if i can give some unsolicited advice? 🙊 You should try be more gentle on yourself! You're doing great! And by doing this all in a month! Wow 😲 You should also give yourself more credit 😉

Yes it such a tricky thing! I almost have to surprise him with each jump when he is reallyyy amped 😂😅
