I owned this machine in the early 80's. It was state of the art at the time for a portable machine. Used it for guitar, live gigs and recording. I loved it. So cool to see and hear one after all these years. Thanks for the demo.
The exact sound is hard to replicate but there are plenty of options to recreate the vibe of these analog pieces of kit. But for some reason this stands out to me as absolute magic, maybe it's the massive knobs, maybe its the wiggly worms living inside that make all the noise.
Now I understand how the delay effect was made in the era of the Beatles 😀 Not the fact that a similar device was used - but such a principle was used - tape delay. It sounds very musical and at the same time very nostalgic - this is not just a delay effect - it is a time machine 😀 You listen - and you are transported to the 60s. By the way, there is an emulation of this device from Ik Multimedia
This device should be in History books. Changing forever music, especially Rock and Raggae..... Man when I saw the tapes accelerating inside.. My brain bugged completely. Needed 3 visions to get it.. And still not sure how it works
This device probably ruined rock I mean how much better could it get from this? You can hear the who and sublime sound which is the early 70s and mid 90s
Hi I currently have my guitar running through a pedal, the pedal through the echo and the echo output through the amp. I notice that my fuzz pedal is brighter when in front of the echo but the echo is less vibrant as opposed slot when the pedal is after the echo, the pedal is not as bright but the echo is much more vibrant. My question is: how do I get that vibrancy from the echo while the pedal is in front of it retaining its own brightness? I also noticed that when I bring the gain up on my pedal the sound is more distorted which is what I want but the sound is also way louder.
Try putting a buffer or a pedal with a buffer between the fuzz and the echo. Boss pedals all have them. That should brighten up the echo some. Your problems come from mismatched impedances. The space echo wants to see a low impedance on the way in, which a guitar nor most pedals give without a buffer or something like a DI box. For your pedal gain issue, perhaps you're overloading the input on the echo? Perhaps turning it down some and finding a balance between distortion and loudness would be good.
Absolutely... anything you want to run it on... if you are using a mixing console run an Aux send to it return it to a channel...VIOLA' echo or reverberation simulation sounds great for most projects... I used those units for live sound back in the day before we had digital effects...
THAT'S what is going on inside those things?? The tape just flops around like that?? That's insane. Couldn't they have figured out a way to route the tape in more systematic way??
A bit hissy eh, not sure that this unit will be ok on a gig situation tho it sounds better than the unit that I tried out a long time ago, probably that one needed a new tape cassette.
It's an analogy delay that uses a tape loop. Also known as a tape echo. The reason why these are desirable and expensive is the sound you get from the tape compression. And there is no latency that you can and do get from a digital processor.

Ahhh, you likea the worms😋You should try the sauce🤪
You likea da juice?
Great run through mate... Thank you for taking the time. Love these units.
Cheers +Philip Bowley.
The amount of choices is owerwhelming. I love this device.
This is an excelent demo, and shows in depth how manipulating the machine affects the sound. Thank you!
Thanks!
So out of the entire internet I'm googling this because my mate is selling one, and it's you demoing Pete :)
🎸😂

works so great on guitar, thanks for the demo!
Echo and Rhodes go well as mic and echo box.. impressive results to be believed
does it naturally take the bass out of the signal ? that first chord sounds like it is played at the tenth fret. almost like a mandolin
The great Randy Rhoads used one!

thanks, now i know which sound to seek in RE-20
LEE SCRATCH PERRY.
💯🚀
Is the static/noise a normal thing with these?
Can you put an aux cable from your pc into the instrument slot?
I don't see why not.
...If I was making a new "Fist Full of Dollars" Clint Eastwood movie I would definitely want this machine for the music score!
Such great sound
Het Pete, do you still have this unit?
Sorry Tim, this was sold years ago.
Tenho uma dessa, está sem uso a mais ou menos vinte anos, por falta de assistência técnica, não encontro mais a fita.
Me ajudem...
@Jose Hamilton, se vc estiver vendendo eu compro.
What a magical device
Did you just used to run this in your amp's effects loop? Just got a 150 Space Echo
No, not all amps have an effects loop. I just connected it the usual way.
Will the space echo RE 201work with mic

nice sounds... what the?! 2:57 opens the lid!
Sometimes surgeons have to open the skull to get a better look at the workings of the brain. ;)
I have one of these that works, but needs some tlc,i can't remember what it may need but some day i'll fix it and sell it.
what amp are you running this through? sounds great
Thanks Roman. This was a while ago, I think it was probably a Fender Blues Deluxe.
Beautiful.
I heard Brian Setzer has about 20 of these
Hours of fun!
how much can these cost?
+Eg luna $850 eBay, look for them

Sounds great!
Hermoso!!!
Sick! So buying one of these
These are great!
My dad had one in the 80s.asked him what happened to it last year. Ended up at the tip! 😔
That is so cool! Reminds me of Joe 90? 😎😆
Very cool
That hiss is very oasis
Definitely Maybe

Super Thanks for testing. Not talking about etymology and human history from Neanderthal times to Roland company 🤦♂️☺️🤘
I like it!!
good sounds!!
Sound of 60s
I'd like shot on these for the presets and add kong momotron for 39$, and you're in
The Who
Pretty much an old school digital delay.
Not quite.
Yeah, except its not digital.

This guy has no idea of how to use this device.
Says every single pedal guy looking at equipment in a youtube comment section
@@John.Christopher Haha, thanks.
