I've got a pair of each, good to hear that they are both decent speakers, going to install in about a week
I have the 165.3 and love them.
In my country audio are expensive. you will pay for the Mlk165.3 €399 a pair. I have this set, and its money worth it. Sound is on high volume very loud and clean without distortion. This set is hooked on Hertz HDP5 5ch amp. I use only lpf for sub on amp, because you cant disable it. Speakers are on full range, because i use the internal crossover from headunit. I can changing all the setting on the headunit. much easier then on the amp.
Hertz HDP-5 amp
Hertz MLK165.3 front
Hertz ECX 165 rear
Hertz EBX 250 subbox
Alpine ILX702D headunit
The mlk 165.3 is 150 watt continuous. Also both woofers shown have ferrite magnets, not neodymium. The only Hertz woofers with neodymium motors are in the more expensive Legend packages (e.g. mlk1650.3 and 700).
So this is the only one in the legend range still using ferrite.
That is an easier way to put it. 🙂 I am looking into one of these at the moment as have upgraded my amp to a jl hd 900/5. Current components not up to the task (jl c3).
By the way, have you seen the size of the crossover on their top of the range mlk 1650.3?
You could use them as suitcases. Absolutely massive!!
Alex Tomlins - I’m looking at 3 amps right now . The alpine PDX-v9 - JL HD900.5 and the JL VXI 1000.5 . I’m going to run 2 sets of hertz Mille Legend 165.3 front and rear . One JL W6-v3 12” subwoofer . I just need to figure what amp I wanna run . It’s all going in my 07 Chevy 1500 vortec MAX ext cab truck . Going for SQ system. I’m going to run passive, so I’m not sure if I should spend the extra money on the JL vxi 1000.5
@@myboy051 the 900/5 will see you right 150 x 4 plus 1 x 300. Perfect.
Thank you for your Video😉
Any updated video yet? Planing on running the 3 way milles in my 9th gen Civic si, curious on ur thoughts of the Millie’s
How do you like the mlk165.3 ?
They're awesome. They require some decent power to get them going though.
Modfyd GARAGE - I just bought a set , haven’t installed them yet but I’m running a JL 450/4 . I’m thinking about running a audison BIT 10 DSP while running the MLK 165.3 “ Active “on the 450/4 alone . Run the minds on the front channel that has 150 rms to each door and the tweeters on the rear channel that has 75 RMS to each door . 🤔 or I just run the MLK’s passive and the rear channels to run my rear coax 6.5 in the doors 🤔
@@myboy051 Sounds like a good setup I hope you'll enjoy
Modfyd GARAGE i have the jl audio hd600-4 you think with that amp the hert mlk165.3 will work good
Alonso Ramos - that 600.4 HD will make them speakers sound very nice . I have a brand new set of mlk165.3 for sale on eBay right now . Bid is at $480 right now .
How much were they bro?
Lol calls the tinsel leads a voice coil
I get nervous in my videos 😅
POST THAT VID BRAH :)
RicKaLocious BaDong I'll try to post a video next week. I still need to install the rear speakers.
Right on Ill be waiting mayne. Cant wait for my install!! Really hoping for a teardrop to roll down my cheekzie when everything is broken in!!
lol...the mlk 165 uses a ferrite magnet...the 1650 uses the neo...
Thx for the clarification.
@@modfydgarage2312 ive just blown a 165 :( replacing with a 1650...lasted 2 or 3 years atleast :)
@@drummonkeystuffuk1875 oh that sucks. What are you powering with?
@@modfydgarage2312 hertz hdp4 and an alpine 178bt headunit
Just as an edit, the speaker didn't blow...it torn the cone apart due to a wiring loom in my door rubbing against it :( but the 1650's blow 1655's away so im happy :D
Its pronounced Niodymium or Neo-dim-e-um
How was the sound diffrence
DirtySouthFlorida3 it's a HUGE difference. I'll try to post the video this week.
Modfyd Inc i cant wait man i got some mezzo sq2 there good but still thinking of upgrading to 1 of these
And so far the mezzo sq2 best comps ive ever heard lol
DirtySouthFlorida3 the hi energy is alright. Really good midbass. The Mille is amazing! The clarity at high volume never distorts and the midbass makes you believe there are 8" woofers in the damn doors. I need a digital processor to finalize my judgement though.
JUST had my HSK165's put in my 370z. I Have a RF P600x4 pushing them bi-amped/active. So no x-over networks using up any juice! For such a small vehicle they are plenty loud, and shockingly clean. I can see going to the next step which is what brought me to this video. What kind of amp do you have pushing them? Was there any types of music that demonstrated bigger differences between the two sets? Figure I'll stick with em for a while since i previously had a whole 15 watts of ear piercing distortion from the stock setup.
