Mate thank you so much for posting this. I had a go bought two bulbs for £21.99 a set of Torx screwdrivers £12.99 and used my phone to guide me using your video. Worked perfectly total cost £34.98 and 20 minutes. After doing the job I called my local Audi dealership to quote me to supply and fit. D3S bulb £205 and one hour labor £180 total cost £385. Thank you again.
Thanks jdb, your video was clear...concise...and damn cost-effective. You gave me the confidence to do it. I did it in 30 minutes including cleaning the surrounding areas under the hood with some goo gone. I bought a 2-bulb pack for $35 and used just one. In the end you saved me $300 on my 2015 Q3. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to help me and others. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for making this video. Audi wanted $1200 for 2 bulbs and fitting. Instead I was able to replace the bulbs using your video and amazon for $250
My audi dealer wanted $1100 for parts and labour on replacing this light bulb. Thanks to you, I was able to do it myself. What amazed me is that the original bulb is already shattered to pieces while installed. Considering that is the 3rd time I had light bulb issue within last 3 years (and twice that the light issue happened right after a service), I almost suspect the bulb wasn't installed correctly to start with.
Ultimately we choose to pay the Audi tax as we bought into the brand. But like all taxation regimes you gotta look for the loopholes to save money. DIY. 😂😂
Thanks a heap mate, saved me a bunch of cash. You're guide made it really easy to do, I changed both lights with the second one only taking 5 minutes to complete. The Indooropilly Audi dealership in Brisbane quoted $800 to change just one bulb! They made up some BS that they would need to take the bumper off etc. If I wanted to do it myself, they were happy to sell the me just the globe for $580. Really unbelievable since we just bought them online for less than $100 each. Cheers again
Exactly why I made the video. Had exactly the same problem as you and I just refused to pay audi the extortion they wanted to change a simple $100 light bulb. So I thought I’d work it out, post a video and hopefully others find it and save themselves some money. It is ridiculous what audi wants for a 10 minute job with a part that they probably buy wholesale for less than $10
Thank you so much for this video. It was a tremendous help and gave me the confidence to do this job on my own. Just a note, some users may run into slight differences. For instance, screws instead of clips and the bulb inserts a little differently. I have a 2016 Q3 Quatto, the North American version, and these are some of the slight differences. It's nothing that stands in the way of an easy DIY job, though. Thank you for the help.
Thanks for your video. I am so glad that I changed the bulb by myself. because of your video. I just bought the bulb and screwdriver costed hk$480. I guess the dealer in hk should be charge me hk$1000. Tks again
Genius mate - thanks a heap (as you'd say!) Fiddled and swore my way for 15 minutes with that pig of a trap door before I thought about removing the lamp unit.. It's also advisable to do this because the glass from my blown bulb was all over the inside of it.
Thanks mate. Mine got quite jammed and couldn't wiggle it out for all the tea in China. But it did give me enough room to squeeze my big hands in and follow the rest of the steps. Many thanks. Much appreciated
Hey mate, good tutorial. Did your globe die or start to flicker? My right headlight has started to flicker and the halo light isn’t as bright as the left halo when I turn the headlights off. I’m not sure if I should replace the globe or take it to an auto electrician.
Mine were totally blown and dead. Flickering would suggest driver problem. But I’m no electrician. Cheapest way to tell would be eaither swap both bulbs round. If the swapped one still flickers, and the alternate light works on the other side I reckon you need an electrician. If no flicker on the original side when swapped problem is the globes driver.
Guys, I've replaced on my 2015 audi Q3 the bulb lights. The original Philips was 12V 25W and when I bought the new ones, I've found a noname brand with 12V 35W. Do you believe is it ok to have 35W instead of 25W? Is it going to burn the fuse in the long run or something else? Thanks a lot to who can answer. Happy New Year and thanks for this video!!
If you only replace one they won’t be the same as the old one would have starting dimming already. If you want them to match you really should replace both together for even brightness.
Yes all. All the same lamp is made by Philip’s for other cars but slightly different housing. First time I bought just d3s. But the last numbers made a difference. The globe I was given was for GM. Same globe but with different numbers at the end had a different housing for Audi. They are pretty easy to find on ebay. Very common.
ToxRozzx have a hunt for a UA-cam video and see if by any luck someone has done one. Otherwise like I did try fiddling around and remove some bolts and see if the headlamp unit comes out.
You don't need to remove the whole head light assembly, I just replaced a bulb in 2 minutes, just remove the rear cover of the head light and replace the bulb as per the video

Спасибо за видео, у меня ауди 2012г и вот только в 2024 лампа умерла, буду менять сам, благодаря твоему видео
Worked a treat on my 2012 Q3 S line. 10 minute job. Thanks for the video
Took me about 15 minutes to do, everything is very well explained.Thank you so much.

Yes. Correct thabkyou. The video is many years old now. The 2016 as you jave had revised headlight assembly and different style to my 2013 model
Thanks, this worked a treat. Very clear instructions and so simple.
Glad it helped

The flickering was the globe having a slow death as it died completely the next day. Thanks for the video, made replacing the globe super easy!
Your welcome
Thanks for that, looks pretty easy
You’re welcome
Your a hero ❤
😆😆😆😆😆😆
Good info. My 2016 Q3 has D5S bulbs instead.
Yeah mine is a 2013. 2016 models had slightly upgraded headlamps so the bulbs are most likely different
Thank you man! Help me a lot... truly thanks!
You’re welcome
Hi, mine is a 2012 Q3 so I have the halogen rather than xenon bulbs, but the process should be identical I hope?
Can’t say I know the answer to that. I would say the removal process would be identical. Not sure which lamps to use in your case thou

I dont know the answer to that one. We probably need someone versed it electronics or an auto electrician to chime in and give advice
Nice vid and clear explanations!
Thx
Автор забыл сказать, что если вы всё-таки коснулись рукой стекла лампы, то нужно её обработать обезжиривателем.
This is correct. You must not touch the glass part of the bulbs ! 👌👌
Thanks v much my man, very in formative. Saving heaps of cash!
Awesome. Cheerd
Thank you very much. This video was very helpful.
👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing video. . So helpful thanks mate 👍
Cheers mate. Yr welcome
Are the stock globes 4200k temp/colour? Just making sure I buy the correct replacement
Oh gee. I can’t remember what they were. But you can put higher temp globes I believe. They would just be brighter
@@jaydeebee2511 I’m just trying to match to the other side. I commonly see 4200 and 6000k
If you only replace one they won’t be the same as the old one would have starting dimming already. If you want them to match you really should replace both together for even brightness.
@@jaydeebee2511 fair point! I’ll change both seeing it’s easy to take out the headlight 👍 cheers mate
Big Thanks
Thank you!!! :-)
You're welcome!
hello, thanks for the guide.
Do I must unplug the car's battery before start the replacement? thanks
No need
Te agradezco el video fue muy fácil hacer el reemplazo
Perfect, thanks a lot

Thank you very much it was very helpful

Question do number on back have to match or they can be different ??
I went with matching
All number or just d3s 35w e4 dot??
Yes all. All the same lamp is made by Philip’s for other cars but slightly different housing. First time I bought just d3s. But the last numbers made a difference. The globe I was given was for GM. Same globe but with different numbers at the end had a different housing for Audi. They are pretty easy to find on ebay. Very common.
I found one with all matching except the first 2 numbers on top the rest matches the original. That’s why I’m not sure if it will work
Hey,
Do you think i have to remove the bumper on an Audi Q2 or can i do the same thing as you do?
I wouldn’t know. But Audi’s are like LEGO. They are all built the same way. I reckon the method would be highly similar. All modular components.
@@jaydeebee2511 On some A3's you have to remove the bumper. But thanks for the awnser.
ToxRozzx have a hunt for a UA-cam video and see if by any luck someone has done one. Otherwise like I did try fiddling around and remove some bolts and see if the headlamp unit comes out.
Thank you
You don't need to remove the whole head light assembly, I just replaced a bulb in 2 minutes, just remove the rear cover of the head light and replace the bulb as per the video
Yep. You are correct. I find it easier removing the assembly. That way I can see what I’m doing a better
Great video thank you.
You’re welcome
replaced the bulb… still having issues with light not turning on! Maybe there’s water damage? :(
Yeah. Might be more than just a blown bulb then
@@jaydeebee2511 Hm. I’ll try replacing the HID Ballast and see what happens
can I mount 8000k? also led?
I don’t know sorry.
Thank you!
👍
👍🏻👍🏻
duuuude they charge that much for that little work?
Yep. Thats y u diy
Thank you!!!!
Hope it helped !
