“She’s sassy everyday.” She’s not sassy. She’s TIRED. Leave your kid alone. Give her a BREAK. She’s a kid who deserves to be a kid. This os a fantastic example of parents living through their kids because they didn’t get to do it as kids themselves.
I think, based on how nervous mom was, that she views her daughter’s scores as a boost or liability to her work/business. It’s not just living vicariously; it’s people pleasing and child labor.
I doubt anyone wants to live through that kind of childhood- the mom is just incredibly selfish and uses her daughter to win prizes. (“ I love that spiderweb crown- I want it so she better win it!”) Wtf. Great priorities, lady.
There was only one mom from toddlers and tiaras that was ever a good mom who did it because her daughter asked. The mom didn't have a lot of money but tried her best and even though her daughter didn't win either, she still told her daughter she did an amazing job and that she was super proud of her. I ended up finding the two on Instagram and the daughter is a cheerleader and seems very happy and the mother still looks absolutely beautiful. They didn't stick with pageants, but she didn't force her daughter and she didn't go crazy and make her daughter look like a 30 year old either. She was the best mom to ever be on that show.
@@maddogmajimaswifey3868 exactly and that's what this mom did. 100% was the sweetest mom to watch, your heart really goes out to her and her daughter when you watch that episode
Of course it is. They're basically the equivalent of dolls they have to feed. If they lose it's the kid's fault and they have to 'try harder' but if they win, the mom would 100% take the tiara if offered it.
Exactly!! 💯!! That says something about them doesn’t it? They are most likely predators. Think of what happened to JonBenét . That case alone should be warning to these parents who want their child to do these pageants. Any predators could be in that room or watching it on TV. They are ALL failing as Mothers. Shame on them.
@@jillionnae9466 bold take here, but some moms truly don't care if their kids are around child predators. My mom allowed me to be around a child predator my entire childhood and the one time I tried to speak up on it I was forced to cover it up to protect my parents image and not cause family drama. After that nothing surprises me. I'd go as far as to bet that most of these moms know full well some of them are predators and still force their kids to do pagents because, like my mom, what matters more is their image than their kids safety.
@@Rayray483marie yea it’s pretty obvious where their priorities are. They take one look at these pageants and see $$$. I don’t think this show is on anymore? Sorry for what you went through. I can’t imagine how horrible things must’ve been.
@@jillionnae9466 I really hope it's not on anymore for the kids sake. I mean it's bad enough to make the kids do pagents but then to put them on TV too is a bigger yikes.
As a mom of a little girl, the eyebrows thing hurt my heart. I can’t imagine taking my kid somewhere and being like “this is gonna hurt, but you’ll look better to some weirdos that judge how attractive kids are”
When I was 7 my mom took me with her to get her eyebrows done, I thought it was funny and insisted I wanted mine done. She tried to talk me out of it but ultimately let me have it done... Needless to say it is 20 years later and I NEVER waxed again.😂 (I also got some ice cream afterwards)
My mom started pushing me to get my eyebrows waxed before I hit my teens. Now, I did have thick eyebrows as a kid; But it didn’t bother me and no kids ever made fun of me, so I didn’t care. But by 13 I heard enough comments, from mostly family, that I let them do it. Im still insecure from all the comments, so I cannot imagine how bad this girl will feel when she grows up
You know what's weird about children's beauty pageants? The kids all end up look like dolled up seniors somehow. There is nothing about their appearance that looks remotely child-like
Because they have children's faces, and children's faces don't have any need for heavy, full makeup. It's disgusting and probably ages their skin beyond their years :(
When I was doing cosmetology, the only child this young that I did waxing services for was a little girl with a unibrow. She had tried to tweezer then and butchered her brows, so I shaped them for her and continued to shape them minimally for her as they grew back in. It is so messed up to make your child think that all of their value comes from their looks. The girl I helped was bullied in school. The girl in the video is bullied by her mom, which is so much worse. 😢
Lol I had to start getting mine waxed for the same reason starting when I was about 12. I had very thick brows and totally butchered them with tweezers because I was self conscious. Luckily they grew back in just fine - unluckily they continue to grow back where I always pluck them nowadays within like 2 days
this happened to me too! I had to do the same cause I was bullied, had to wax since I was 9 y.o. and also shave my legs cause beauty standars. Now I look back then and I feel so bad for my young self why I did that to myself ugh.
This happened to me too! My mum was against me shaving at such a young age, and I didn't know how to pluck them, like this was before when kids didn't have phones to see beauty tips etc! So my mum told me to put concealer on it! I was severely bullied anyway, it just made it worse, I wish she would've waxed it! I think in the end she plucked them for me, and showed me how.
I started having my eyebrows waxed around 12. I have thick eyebrows and my mom was like “let’s tame the brows a little.” I appreciate that she took me at that age. But anything younger than 12 is insane
my heart absolutely shattered when I saw her say she didn't want her teeth to look like a jack-o-lantern :( it's so normal for a 9 year old to have some weird looking teeth, their teeth aren't even finished growing yet. I know mine were totally jacked up at that age and it would've really hurt if my parents said something to me like that
Let's dress up your 8 year old like an adult, completely change her face with makeup, and let grown men rate her based on her looks and make her dance for them! Yeah, I'm not sure how these ever became a thing.
I've never understood how people don't see that child pageants reinforce a feeling of "not being enough for my parent or others" when the kid grows up. It's so sad, and imo it should be treated as a type of child abuse
My best friend was a pageant kid and she's still working thru the BS that caused her ... she's close to 40 now. It's awful watching someone go thru so much distress and them not be able to understand what it likely stems from. Then if they finally do, it's too late. So they have to basically start over, again and again. 💔
When my first daughter was about a year-and-a-half old, we entered her in a pageant. My husband and I were young and naive, and our daughter was absolutely beautiful. We thought it was all about the children, having fun, meeting each other, making friends.. like I said, we were young and naive. We made it through half of the first pageant day and ended up walking out in the middle. The parents were so strange, and we started seeing children made up to look like grown women. It was so disturbing! Of course, we never went back. I truly wish they would outlaw these things because they are borderline pedophilic. That's the vibe I got that is what set me off and made me gather my child in my husband and get the hell out of there. All these red flags were going off in my head, and I couldn't believe they weren't going off for other parents. These pageants are damaging to a child's self-esteem at best, and, like I said, pedophilia ca worst. No one will ever convince me otherwise, and I will forever think that parents who push their children into these things are monsters. They are narcissists who need their narcissism fed through their children. It's like their entire identity is wrapped up in whether or not their child wins
Same thing happened to me as well I walked out when a six year old girl walked out In basically a bikini and started “dancing “to California girls by Katy Perry
@@phoenixrising55 exactly. That's why I said at worst it's pedophilic in nature. These pageants are nothing more than the sexualization of children and I find it should be Criminal
I honestly love her Jack O Lantern teeth more than those false, denture-ish ones! As an added bonus, it would have been fitting for a spider crown and the whole theme
Her natural teeth look so cute. It makes her look like a child. Putting false teeth in makes her look odd because they are far too old looking for her face.
Honestly man it's just all bad all around. Just think for a second and then realize that somehow these have become like the mainstream "normal" form of entertainment, and then think somebody actually signed off on this stuff as being a good idea too boot! Then there's the people who are actually entertained and don't see how fucked it all is!!
“She’s won over 20,000 dollars” I bet that is not even half of what they have put into doing the pageants though. Between the entry fees, the costumes , the hair, the makeup, the travel, housing etc. the cost is ginormous. I wonder how many she had to be in to win $20,000?
If I ever come across a children's beauty pageant, I'm going to be the guy who pulls the fire alarm. The crap these "professional parents" put these kids through ought to be illegal as hell.
If theres one thing the french did right was banning these things like 10 years ago. I really wish they were illegal everywhere, nothing good could possibly come out of this
@@RobinStarrTV And for that, your parents could have put you on a debate team or in drama classes, and not in front of adults (many of them men) that judge a preteen girl on her appearance?! (Edited:grammar).
@@MountainPearlsexactly. I went through a tough young childhood and once I got out of that situation I was painfully shy and hated everything about myself. I was 14 and had just moved to a new city, making the shyness worse. My dad (the non-abusive parent) encouraged me to take debate. It was difficult at first, especially because of the stage fright, but I wasn’t the only one scared, and our teachers showed us ways to deal with it and how to build our confidence. And as we spoke more and more, the confidence grew naturally. We were judged on our ability to research, know a subject inside and out, and to think quick on our feet. IIRC, the scoring was based on *style* (voice, facial expressions, gesticulating, etc), *content* , and *strategy* . They judge on things you control; not your face, or voice, or things you inherently have.
the mum straight up ignored the fact her daughter said no to getting her eyebrows waxed ... I know she smiled about it after, but I wouldn't be surprised if she does it to make her mum happy
honestly, she probably doesn't because she doesn't have a choice. When you're that young, you don't really question stuff that your parents do or say because you think that's just how the world is. And even if she did question, a mom like that probably gets really mean, just look at how she acts ON camera
The mom looks like Violet Beauregard’s mom from the Tim Burton Charlie in the Chocolate Factory. The facial expressions and everything give off that “my kid better win or I’ll scream at the manager”, aka: the Karen, look.
@@Kivamusicchannel really? She always creeped me out as a kid. As an adult, I understand why though. Tim Burton definitely based her design on Karens before the term really came into the mainstream.
Seriously weirded out by the fact parents put their kids through that, and creating the mindset that if they lose they LOST! And not just about experiences
That's probably the only good part of it, kids should be taught how to lose. Get rid of "participation trophies." That's just not how life works, we now have adults that grew up in the participation trophy Era and they think the world revolves around them, no matter what everyone should cater to them.
@@arnold8746 I would agree with how to lose, but my point was that their worth is different than winning. It seems like pageant kids/parents get them mixed up.
I'm currently reading Jennette McCurdy's book and I have to say from the get go a lot of these parents remind me so much of her mother. Very much a, "I want to win. I want the money. I want to do the pageant." Never once are the children asked if they actually want to do this and they often feel as if they have to to keep the peace in their family so they do whatever the parent wants. I am by no means a professional in child psychology, these are just some similarities I've noticed. It's so insanely sad.
There is no way an actual PROFESSIONAL cosmetologist of any kind would agree to do those services for a 9 y.o. Her skin and hair is gonna be too sensitive and delicate for chemicals and products like that.
Totally agree, but I think moms like this will find someone going through hard times and take advantage of them by paying them very very well to do it for them. I was never in pageants, but my mom made me get my brows waxed since I was about this girls age. I used to cryyyy bc it hurt & would make my skin welt up and itch like crazy for days.
I worked in salons for years and the haircolor on kids, even bleach, isn't as much of an issue bc you can do what's called an off the scalp application... the eyebrow wax though idk if id feel comfortable performing that service on a minor younger than, say, 13 or 14. It's a consent issue more than anything bc it can be painful and you can burn someone or cause infection if you're not careful
@@cookiedoe6068 You understand there are people who will just do it regardless, right? Not everyone is a saint just because they are in the service industry. She most likely paid the standard fee. There are a lot of people who don't think it's bad to dye kids hair and wax them. At least 2 kids in my daughters class have a bleached spot with color in it (like red and blue). Even for the temp dye, it's still bad for their skin. The bleaching is too, of course. Some people don't care about harsh manmade chemicals that hurt kids skins (and adults as well) and it's that simple. There are a good of amount of clueless, selfish non caring people.
Parents like this actually anger me to no end. You're creating lasting trauma for what? Superficial awards? Sure she wins money, but is that REALLY worth the body issues she's going to grow up with?
Nothing is more disgusting then a bunch of weirdo adults telling children that they're attractive, and dressing them up in mini revealing adult clothing.
People sexualize the LGBT and drag, so they can keep feeling justified to hate people. We used to do the same thing to black people. they were too inappropriate to be around a whyte persons kids. They’re to sexualized and savages to be allowed near kids. Now it’s the lgbt.
My mother obsessively plucked my eyebrows since I was maybe ten, and I’m 21 now. Haven’t plucked my eyebrows in four years since my dad won the custody battle and I _still_ have near pencil brows. She also made me do western pleasure horse showing. Apparently I won the nationals. I was also eight and didn’t care at all for it. It’s not a memorable part of my life. When these kids grow up this’ll either exit their memories or cause trauma they can’t forget.
I feel like child pageants have a potential upside. You get the name of every person in the audience and if they aren’t a parent or judge you put them on some sort of watchlist.
Yes. I have always wondered about the security or lack of. It’s easy to find out when and where these pageants are taking place and anyone can get into these conference rooms at these hotels and other places and sit there with their hands in their pants watching children prance around in costumes while not being noticed
This makes me feel sick tbh. It's so detrimental to the mental well being of the child. Just the way she calls her a jack-o'-lantern is enough to give her a complex. I lived with a highly critical, pushy and competitive mother which took a huge toll on my self esteem. I feel for this little girl.
I remember my mom telling me someone wanted to "recruit" me to be in a photo-shoot when I was a toddler. I remember being about 10 when she told me. I was too young to understand why she would let the opportunity for me to be famous to pass by. I finally understood why she said no when I was an adult. I'm extremely grateful that my mother said no. She knew how toxic that would have been and how it would make me insecure.
I remember being in a choir on stage when I was young and feeling really good about myself until afterwards when my mother said I had a weak jawline and I needed to get my haircut so I looked better on stage. We aren’t a family that cares much about looks but even so, that cut me deep and stayed with me (I’m 44 now). I can only imagine the damage these parents are doing to their children.
I remember growing up my aunt would put my lil cousin in pageants even before she could walk. She won a lot of awards and they even traveled over the years, but she hated it because it was so much pressure, all the time and money and travel they would spend money on even when winning didn't cover for all of that plus gowns, make-up etc. She put all 3 of her daughters in it and they have said that It was fun because they the felt like it was just playing dress up at first, but then when they lost they would get scolded. It had its good and bad. Today all 3 are very successful young women. 1 started out as a paramedic, became a nurse and now she does life flight (something like that) and one of the other girls is about to graduate top of her class at University of Kentucky for nursing. Them 2 are still very girly, the other one is successful in business and she is not into all the girl things. They turned out great, but unfortunately it does leave emotional and mental trauma. I mean we try to teach our kids to respect themselves, their bodies. And then you got things like this that are teaching them at a very young age that looks and even weight is what they are being judged on their looks. Imagine the girls that don't win going home parents upset or maybe their not maybe they are thinking that they are doing it for fun but now you have a child that feels not good enough or pretty enough and that is ingrained at a young age. It sets them up for a life time of possible issues .
@@PinkrosesandagraveyardEyebrow waxing a child ..... idk that’s weird to me lol. And it’s for her appearance to make her mom money we know dam well that kid is getting at most 5 bucks from
I'm not a professional but I don't think messing with eyebrows at that age is a good idea... they might not grow back, just ask the girls that did the Gwen Stefani eyebrows in the 90s.
@@riel4553 I mean I know for a fact that repeated removal of any hair will eventually lead to damage whether it be thinning or inability to grow it back at all
I will never stop saying it, child pageants look like child auctions to me with the way they're dressed up and how the announcers list their traits and interests in front of an adult audience almost like they're buying a product. I'm sure there are good pageant parents and children who genuinely enjoy these sorts of things, but it doesn't make it any less creepy and uncomfortable.
I had a friend who was in pageants growing up. When we grew up, i saw the aftermath of it. I couldnt go to the restaurant with her anymore, because she was so into counting calories, that it was overflowing to me like: ''what are you going to do to lose all those calories from THAT?!'' etc. It was painful because she develepped bulimia in the end.... At least now she is doing well. But oh boy are those environnememnt toxic....
I'll shed a little bit of light on why this is a thing. Im my mother's only daughter. I don't have many memories from when I was a kid but I do remember my mom looking at me like I was the most beautiful thing she ever saw lol so she wanted to dress me up and make everyone else see how beautiful I was. But unlike all of these other parents...after just a couple of pageants, I told my mom I didnt like it and she took me out. But I do truly believe these moms just feel they have created the most beautiful human being ever and they just want to present them to the world like " look what I did!" My mom was so great about it. She wanted me to be girly but I didn't want to do those things. I liked being one of the boys. And she accepted that. But...I'll never forget the time my mom handmade dresses for me...and looked at me in tears and told me "I was the best thing she ever did." ❤ Not all parents are shitty 😅 still hate these things though because some parents really don't give a shit
Ryan's world is a good example of child exploitation....he is definitely the bread winner in that family and those parents are cashing in...it's disgusting
Yes...they are on Hulu and everything now. And every family vlogger that heavily focuses on their children are just as bad. They are all child exploiters. It should be illegal.
He is cashing in too. I actually hate that whole Ryan's world thing, but the parents are doing work too. It is definitely wrong in my opinion, to do that to a kid at such a young age and keep it going without asking if they are fine with it when they can understand, or conditioning to them at that level. but it's not just the kid's money. Don't worry about Ryan because they make more than enough to be good for a long time and Ryan will most certainly get more than enough money to be a rich Ahole. The parents do work too, just like how a child star has an agent that gets money. I would never do it to my kid, but it's weird that everyone says the kids parents profit and shouldn't... why not? The kid isn't doing all the work and they are all benefiting. The worse ones are when it's a family vlog,. and the family is bossing their kids around and you can't technically say the kid is the star. That would be more of the grey area where a parent can take all of the money legally. If you are so against kids in media, you better not watch any movies or fictional TV shows that involve kids because it's the same exact thing, but probably worse since it's hollywood (or equivalent in other countries). Talking about those items only, of course pageants are a beast of their own but you gave the Ryan's world example.
The covert snark towards her own daughter, I know that shit too well. It ain't jokes between them, it's basically bullying, and it is probably constant, it destroys any sens of self and pride you've ever had as a young child and trains you for a life of self-hate. I even got the eyebrow wax as well, tho I believe I was 11 not 9. That shit HURTS, and it gave me a strawberry field on my face as a bad reaction. Still don't understand why the tech would let that happen and accept to wax a kid... That poor girl. Hope she runs and never looks back, one day when she can.
The mom fixating over her TODDLER’S GROWING TEETH is so messed up. She’s way too young to be worrying about all this stuff. I remember being self-conscious when my adult teeth were growing in, and couldn’t imagine my own mother making me feel even worse about it. This kid is going to grow up broken, shallow, and attention seeking however, that’s what the saddest part of all this is.
This is bad but you should see some of the dance competitions are worse. I had my daughter in one when she was 4. Her age group was fun and cute. They did a cutesy teddy bear dance in big fancy dresses. She had a blast. The next age group up was very uncomfortable to watch. 6 years old and up doing sexually suggestive dances. I had to look away a number of times during the competition. What creeped me out more was an older man that attended the performance. I got huge creeper vibes from him. He was speaking to other parents. I asked him if his grandchild was in the performance and he said no he doesn't have any child in the performance and he stated he never missed a show. The other parents had no problem with this. It was weird like an episode of the twilight show. I decided then and there that my daughter will stop after that year. I let the dance teacher know about the creepy guy but based on how he knew a lot of the parents I doubt anything happened.
My mom got me involved in beauty pageants from when I was very young. The most important thing in the world to her was that I was pretty. She was very insecure, and in her mind, parading me around and me winning pageants made her look good. Me being pretty made her feel like she wasn’t as ugly (which she also wasn’t outwardly ugly). I developed an eating disorder that I’m still struggling with. I have basically no self esteem. As for why this is a thing and how it keeps going, it’s mainly creepy people getting off on this and money.
I have been binge watching all your videos for the past week, and I gotta say, I have never been wished a happy birthday in such a short amount of time. And I've never been so damn toasty.
The one thing that bothers me the most about child beauty pageants is that the children will think that the only way people will accept them is if they’re fully glammed. I mean it’s always the ones that have tons of makeup and the biggest dress that wins… You don’t have to be fully glammed to be accepted, they’re perfect just the way they are…
I loved them as a child! Glitz pageants were the most fun, and I definitely do not think that now as an adult (about people only accepting me glitzed up... that's far from true. I don't even wear make up most days). You get to dress up as a real princess for a day! Going to the hair salon and nail salon with your mom. Going shopping and buying pretty dresses. It was every young girl's dream! Then you go home with your tiara and sash. It really makes you feel special. My confidence went up SO much when I started. I did maybe 5 or 6 per year though, not every weekend like this child. And I wanted to be there 100%. No overboard crazy parents. It's not bad if you do it right and everyone has fun. ❤
Ryan's world....blew up and out of control. The kids don't even seem like they enjoy it anymore. They have a whole adult crew now too it's weird. Toddlers in tiara is all about self reflecting for the moms and it does soo much damage to the child's mindset
in her teen years she's gonna rebel so bad I can see her being alternative like a complete 360 bc she's who she wants to be instead of who her mom wants her to be
I hate these but it truly warms my heart how protective of kiddos you two are. We definitely need more men as vocal as you are about parenting and protecting kids and being involved. ❤
My mom was in a ton of beauty pageants as a child/teenager. She’s the most beautiful person in my eyes but you could never tell her that. Her self esteem is rock bottom. The whole idea around them is just creepy and sad
A child’s ❤eyebrows should not be waxed. Poor skin is more sensitive Edit* omg I just realized they are gambling using their children, because those dresses alone are like thousands of dollars, just to win part of that cash back and some plastic crowns and a sash? Lmao wtf
I have self esteem issues from just living life as most people do. I can't imagine what issues I would have if my mom constantly changed my appearance, made jokes about the way I look, and had random strangers talk about and rate how I look especially at such a young age. Also making fun of your child's smile is a good way to not see it anymore. That girl is gonna think she's not as pretty when she smiles or looks goofy when she's actually just as cute as any other kid who's teeth are literally growing still. I remember a dentist made fun of my smile when I was a kid and I avoided letting people see my teeth for weeks, thankfully when I told my dad he got furious and told me my smile was perfect the way it was. I really hope that mother wises up and stops putting her kid in pageants or the girl gets fed up and refuses to continue being in them.
Im an esthetician and I think the only time it is OK to wax a child’s eyebrows is if they have a unibrow because kids get bullied for it. I’ve had a few moms bring their children to me to wax their eyebrows but I ONLY do the unibrow area, not the entire brow
I'm not from the US, I'm from the Philippines, so maybe child pageants are different where I'm from. I used to join pageants as a kid. My parents were against it at first, but supported me anyway. We didn't have those weird, overly s*xual dances, we didn't have a swimsuit portion. It was mostly to showcase how talented your child is, how well your child can answer during the Q&A, and of course, how pretty they are. My father would make my gowns and teach me how to answer during the Q&As. We even had books on the most frequently asked child pageant questions, so my dad would have me recite memorized answers sometimes. Mom would help me with the talent portion. She taught me how to sing and play the piano. She also did my hair and makeup. Didn't wax my eyebrows but definitely shaved them a bit sometimes. Never colored my hair because it might cause damage, but mom would buy me wigs so I can choose whatever hair color I want. We would have lots of attendees too. Not like in this video where it's mostly the parents who attend. People within the village/Barangay would attend and basically just show support to the neighborhood kids. These pageants are also typically funded by the local government or NGOs. There are cash prizes for the runner-ups and the winners/awardees. As a pageant kid, it's super weird for me to see a show like this. It's a disgrace. It's so damaging to kids.
I had to do pageants for a short time when I was like 7. It was hell. I covered myself in temporary tattoos the night before a pageant and got in a shit ton of trouble but they realized I really didn't want to do it 😂
Some kids are competitive and have fun. I think limiting what parents can do to age up kids is best. Let them have dress up and talent competitions if they enjoy it. Glad to know these also exist
Worse is, the more you peel off eyebrows' hair, the more you pull on the skin, the more your eyes look sad because the pulled skin is falling. She's too young for that. And poor girl might get more comment later on her beauty because of that mistake. No need to reshape a dazzling diamond.
I did a pageant for fun awhile ago (8th grade). I just cosplayed Dio but lots of the girls were SUPER stressed. The judges were all ladies, the announcer was a lady, the helpers were all ladies and Ms Lacy set it all up. That’s how you do it, all girls, it was super supportive, everyone has each others backs and it was pretty fun. (We were stressed bc of the huge crowd lol)
When I was a kid I auditioned to be a model and actually got a call back, looking back never have I been so happy that we were to poor to come up with the funds to do it. 😂💎
They need to create rules against using makeup and other harsh cosmetic changes for children this young. Just celebrate your child for who they are and let them have fun like that adorable toddler in the purple dress dancing her heart out. These moms aren't gonna change so it needs to come from the pageant side so they can't ruin their children any more than they may already have.
My mother put me in the Pro Football Hall of Fame at 22 as a joke. I cannot imagine what these kids go through. I had a blast because I didn't care! I got in trouble a few times because they didn't like how I pranced (walked). But there were girls that bought dresses that were worth thousands and spent hours on hair and makeup. It was a wild experience! Would never do it again and would never have my own girls do it.
My mom used to watch Toddlers and Tiaras when i was around 8 to 10. Somewhere in that range. She would point and say,"Aren't you glad I don't make you do that?" Or ,"Aren't you glad I don't treat you like that?" I was apalled by the show as a kid. Ah! Good memories.
The mother looked like such a huge karen and every word that came out of her mouth was basically "I did this as a child so now my daughter has to do it as well and if she doesnt she will get her Butt beaten and forced to do this." even with her facial expressions.
Poor BABY!!!! For those who don't have kids, watching your child in pain is the worst feeling. Even when it's necessary, like getting a shot. Intensively hurting them for NO GOOD REASON is awful
What’s upsetting is that it’s the drag queen story hour that’s been falsely accused of this creepy behavior with children, yet no public outrage about how creepy these pageants can be. 🧐

They love it and they learn about so many different aspects of society. It's a shame that people don't see that but instantly slander and shout about how it's ruining kids minds.

She’s not sassy.
She's a child. Not a circus poodle.
The way I used to want my daughter in pageants when I was younger bc I wasn’t able to do them. Disgusting of me fr 🤢
the mothers saying “WE” when speaking about their childrens achievments in the pageants tells me all i need to know.
💯
or when she says "I like to win" when referring to her child winning
There was only one mom from toddlers and tiaras that was ever a good mom who did it because her daughter asked. The mom didn't have a lot of money but tried her best and even though her daughter didn't win either, she still told her daughter she did an amazing job and that she was super proud of her. I ended up finding the two on Instagram and the daughter is a cheerleader and seems very happy and the mother still looks absolutely beautiful. They didn't stick with pageants, but she didn't force her daughter and she didn't go crazy and make her daughter look like a 30 year old either. She was the best mom to ever be on that show.
I think it's fine if the child asks to go or at least try it but once they decide they don't want to do it anymore don't force them

Of course it is. They're basically the equivalent of dolls they have to feed. If they lose it's the kid's fault and they have to 'try harder' but if they win, the mom would 100% take the tiara if offered it.
Same with the trendy grooming going on today.
Blurs out hair salon’s name on sign but not on door. Good job TLC 😂
The fact that there were grown men judging TODDLERS really grossed me out.
Exactly!!

My mom use to wax my eyebrows when I was a kid 🤷🏻
Totally. Your worth should never be determined by your looks or your money, especially as a child.
There is nothing about their appearance that looks remotely child-like
That's what creeps me
Omfg yes I hate it gross
That's the whole point lol
Yeah, they look almost like adults, and that just makes it even creepier
Because they have children's faces, and children's faces don't have any need for heavy, full makeup. It's disgusting and probably ages their skin beyond their years :(
I would love a show of these girls all grown up talking about how pageants affected them. Would be super interesting.
I know mine were totally jacked up at that age and it would've really hurt if my parents said something to me like that
Yeah I remember being so proud losing my teeth and knowing they would be replaced with "adult" ones
and her saying she "didn't want to be a jack-o-lantern for Halloween because they're fat" :( and her mom "calls her a jack-o-lantern all the time"
Child beauty pageants are terrible and I'll never be convinced otherwise.
Always agreed. Always seemed so toxic for the children as well

Let's dress up your 8 year old like an adult, completely change her face with makeup, and let grown men rate her based on her looks and make her dance for them!
Yeah, I'm not sure how these ever became a thing.
YESSSSS!!
I'm glad you saw it for what it is. And I bet your daughter is still beautiful and a wonderful person.
They really do seem pedophelic. Dressing up children for grown ass adults to judge how attractive they are?
They are living through their children. Vicariously
Same thing happened to me as well I walked out when a six year old girl walked out In basically a bikini and started “dancing “to California girls by Katy Perry

if I was that daughter, I wouldn't even bother with a home, I'd just be straight up gone
“She’s won over 20,000 dollars” I bet that is not even half of what they have put into doing the pageants though. Between the entry fees, the costumes , the hair, the makeup, the travel, housing etc. the cost is ginormous. I wonder how many she had to be in to win $20,000?
And if she has made money, you can guarantee she'll never see a cent of it.
plus i highly doubt they're saving the winnings for the little girl for like schooling or anything 😭
Not only that imagine how self conscious she could be growing up
She could have probably made that by just working a part time job

It was difficult at first, especially because of the stage fright, but I wasn’t the only one scared, and our teachers showed us ways to deal with it and how to build our confidence.

honestly, she probably doesn't because she doesn't have a choice. When you're that young, you don't really question stuff that your parents do or say because you think that's just how the world is. That's probably the only good part of it, kids should be taught how to lose. Get rid of "participation trophies." I want to do the pageant." Never once are the children asked if they actually want to do this and they often feel as if they have to to keep the peace in their family so they do whatever the parent wants.
You’ll be surprised
I worked in salons for years and the haircolor on kids, even bleach, isn't as much of an issue bc you can do what's called an off the scalp application... the eyebrow wax though idk if id feel comfortable performing that service on a minor younger than, say, 13 or 14. It's a consent issue more than anything bc it can be painful and you can burn someone or cause infection if you're not careful
@@cookiedoe6068 You understand there are people who will just do it regardless, right? Not everyone is a saint just because they are in the service industry. She most likely paid the standard fee.

I'm sure there are good pageant parents and children who genuinely enjoy these sorts of things, but it doesn't make it any less creepy and uncomfortable.
I had a friend who was in pageants growing up. When we grew up, i saw the aftermath of it.

Her mother calls her a jack-o-lantern, and she considers jack-o-lanterns to be fat…so this child potentially considered herself fat…that’s really sad
I watch you guys on my lunch break at work routinely. I love it
And then these same mom's and judges turn around and get scared of Drag Queens.
They both suck. But this is tolerable at least.
The one thing that bothers me the most about child beauty pageants is that the children will think that the only way people will accept them is if they’re fully glammed. I mean it’s always the ones that have tons of makeup and the biggest dress that wins…
You don’t have to be fully glammed to be accepted, they’re perfect just the way they are…
I loved them as a child!
Toddlers in tiara is all about self reflecting for the moms and it does soo much damage to the child's mindset
in her teen years she's gonna rebel so bad I can see her being alternative like a complete 360 bc she's who she wants to be instead of who her mom wants her to be
"If it came down to looks she wouldn't win" now who's fault is THAT, MOM?
I hate these but it truly warms my heart how protective of kiddos you two are. We definitely need more men as vocal as you are about parenting and protecting kids and being involved. ❤
Listening to their laugh always brings me so much joy :)
My mom was in a ton of beauty pageants as a child/teenager. She’s the most beautiful person in my eyes but you could never tell her that. Her self esteem is rock bottom. The whole idea around them is just creepy and sad
What's her number? Asking for a friend....
A child’s ❤eyebrows should not be waxed. Poor skin is more sensitive
Edit* omg I just realized they are gambling using their children, because those dresses alone are like thousands of dollars, just to win part of that cash back and some plastic crowns and a sash?
Yesss I love the toddler in tiaras content
I covered myself in temporary tattoos the night before a pageant and got in a shit ton of trouble but they realized I really didn't want to do it 😂
“ lucky for us it’s producing money” momma got keep her eyebrows waxed somehow!
I don't enjoy the things you are reacting to, but definitely enjoy your reaction to it. Thanks for lessening my boredom.
Also ken, they have “natural” pageants. Where the girls have no makeup or tans and stuff. So much better. Hopefully you can watch one of those
Some kids are competitive and have fun. I think limiting what parents can do to age up kids is best. Let them have dress up and talent competitions if they enjoy it. Glad to know these also exist
It’s a great day when there’s a new Ken and Buffpro vid 🎉🎉
That "she'll take it" from the mom was the attitude my mom had for me at the hospital when I was going through heart surgeries.
I didn't know anything about "child pageants" until Jon Benet Ramsey. This was enough for me to think they should all be banned.
Just stumbled upon your channel.
The BEST!!! I laughed my ass off.
You got a new subscriber over here. 😂👍
Makes me feel grateful for my mom she made going to the public library fun, and I get my best memories from that ! 🎉❤
It's funny watching you guys react to this, but child pageants are so sad and creepy
2:54 "JESUS! I just wasnt expecting the forehead"
Nice save lol
Just imagine that it was fathers trying to make their daughters look as "pretty" as possible, how weird that would be
My mom used to watch Toddlers and Tiaras when i was around 8 to 10.
My daughter is beginning to enter the world of competitive gymnastics. I’m taking this video as an inspiration on how not to parent.
Lock um all up! No grown man should be a judge for this evil trash! Grooming them to be horrible adults.
What’s upsetting is that it’s the drag queen story hour that’s been falsely accused of this creepy behavior with children, yet no public outrage about how creepy these pageants can be. 🧐
They’re both creepy. However, them sweeping this under the rug just shows how they’re catering to one specific agenda
they are both highly disconcerting
I agree! Drag shows are fun and don’t target anyone, meanwhile these pageants absolutely sexualize children !
@@kenyapacheco6303 Drag shows are literally adult men dressed in "slutty" women's outfits, parading around in provocative ways. It is obviously adult-oriented.
@@leahwilliams9333 drag story time is literally the opposite of an evening drag show. I've been to a few storytimes to help my drag wearing friends. The outfits are more like Disney princesses and child friendly and they're just there to read a kids book to children. It's amazing to see how the kids come out of their shells and Interact with what they see to them is an actual princess in front of them. They love it and they learn about so many different aspects of society. It's a shame that people don't see that but instantly slander and shout about how it's ruining kids minds.
