I remember talking to a guy once years ago, he had a small blue bowl of something for dinner, and while we were talking, he explained that he had bariatric surgery a couple years prior and that whatever fit in the little blue bowl was what could comfortably fit in his stomach. I've always been grateful for meeting that random man all those years ago because you don't realize how out of control a 'serving' of food can get until you compare the quantity of the food to the size of the vessel (stomach) you are cramming it all into.
if he had bariatric surgery his bowl would be smaller than someone who hadn't (just an FYI) otherwise good to think about portion control. it makes a big difference.

I try to avoid white foods and I'm down to 150lbs from 430 and I always remind myself...nothing tastes as good as skinny(er) feels

I actually know this woman personally. She's a friend and I used to work with her. She has put in a lot of time and hard work to get into where she is now. And she's been able to keep a lot of the weight off. So some of the shit from the show clearly doesn't put these people in a good light. She's definitely a fighter and I'm proud of her

She worked hard, she did what she was supposed to do and is on the right path, so we should give her credit, which I do, but she still has to live with all the decisions she made in the past. So extra skin, health problems, family problems, she did that to herself and she has to live with that, and just because she lost the weight and is healthy now doesn’t mean her daughter has to treat her amazingly now, she has to deal with the repercussions of her actions. I don't understand the stigma against vegetables... Like everywhere else outside of north and south America, like u can COOK up ur veggies with whatever food you're eating, u don't just have to eat them raw or boil them, if ur making steak, u can dice em up or bake them with ur steak…. Its not that hard. Edit: I live in Canada but I come from a Caribbean household. I get kids are picky eaters but even that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I too was picky but my mom straight up said eat and with tears in my eyes id eat my damn food 😂 I was allergic to canned alphabet soup and still ate it until I was old enough to explain to my mom that I'm pretty sure I'm allergic. But overall the wonder of food it that you can experiment mix and match. Most times you wont even taste the veggies, follow recipes do your own mad scientist thing. Have fun with food and you'll love to eat food. Canned, frozen, fresh etc.

Yeah, not sure why N American (mostly USA) culture insists veggies need to be either raw, boiled, or canned. My parents only ever prepared veggies that way & I hated them. Didn't help that they only ever got like 5 different kinds. When I got older and started experimenting with different foods & recipes, turns out I actually like veggies 😋 just when they're cooked (except peas. still hate peas 😖)

Everybody’s metabolism is different but it does depend on the type of salad she’s talking about. Plus she might order it instead of make it. Plus I think we all know that’s not the only thing she eats all day. She needs to accept that and then she can change.

I got all of you beat. My son is on the spectrum. He has so many eating issues. So if he requests a new food, I jump on it! He often requests foods he's heard with "interesting" (to him) names. For example: He came to me at 8 and sincerely requested baked ziti. I was stoked. I spent the whole day making fresh sauce, I got the right cheese, and went to three grocery stores to get ziti that looked most like the picture he showed me. I was so proud of this meal, yall. So proud. I presented it to my son with pride and he said "Can I have soup and crackers?" 😢

You are given drugs to suspend you in unconsciousness, paralyze you (so your body doesn’t twitch or reach to stimuli during the surgical procedure), and also causing levels of amnesia to keep you from forming memories during the procedure. You never go into any levels of sleep, you are just paused mentally. Anesthesia is a delicate balancing act, and the anesthesiologist has the patient’s life in their hands just as much as the surgeon! Love working in the OR!
Yeah, but it's a hell of a lot less scary to see "you'll be asleep for the procedure" when you're having surgery. I had my gallbladder removed a couple years ago and reading about what general anesthesia really is was pretty wild. Kudos to you for the job you do!

Her daughter probably got tired of taking care of her mother while she was trying to have a childhood and go to school. Looking for a new partner to her meant a new care giver.
Anesthesia is serious business. That is why it requires a specialist. Prior to surgery, you (typically) will meet with your anesthesiologist, going over the process and preparation. It effects everyone differently and can take dangerously radical turns if any complications arise. Epidurals are put directly into your spine, with a thick needle. During my daughter's labor, she began coming down my back and I couldn't push due to the extreme pain ... This was with an epidural already. Mid labor, the anesthesiologist had to come in, lay me sideways and attempt another delivery of epidural... Because of my contractions, my back spasmed at the same time as the needle went in, causing it to perforate a nerve and all of a sudden my entire body seized in the worst pain I've ever felt in my life, still to this day (22 years later) every vein and muscle felt like lightening was surging through me, intense - white hot - radical pain. It was an unforeseeable happening. After about 7-10 min, my body relaxed almost all at once, the immediate relief that moment was indescribable. But, now i really was dead in the lower quadrants of my body and inevitably had to use the vacuum suction thing to get her out. After getting back to my post partum room, the anesthesiologist came to see me. Him feeling terrible about the ordeal and wanting to make sure I was okay and wanting to go over what after effects the nerve damage could present. Rigidity, shocks in the middle to lower back in the spine when bending or twisting, numbness in the lower back that can feel like pressure on your pelvis (which can lead to some incontinence, etc.) and it could go on for years. Every now and again, if gardening or bending half way in a hunch position for long periods, when I go to stand or straighten spine, there's a flash of that searing pain and my breath catches for a moment. Then, it stops as fast as it started. It should be scary if going under anesthesia. So, take it seriously.
My son is 35 and I still will get a pain in my spine where my epidural went in for my c-section, especially if I have to sit in a rigid hard backed chair. They need to rethink how they do it. You in labor, having contractions, curl up while all this is going on and stay as still as you possibly can while they inject a large needle into your spinal cord. Come on now, there's gotta be a better way!
My epidural with my son made my BP bottom out, it almost resulted in a crash C-section because he went into distress. Luckily he came out of it though. This just cemented my resolve to go without the spinal for baby #2.

The salad line reminded me of when I worked at McDonald's. I worked with a gal that was so overweight she was seeing a doctor. One day I go in the break room. She had a salad with 5 or 6 pieces of the crispy chicken, and she poured several ranch packets on it. She was sitting there saying how her mom will be so proud to hear she had a salad for lunch.

It's so weird how a lot of people hate vegetables, I love them and actually CRAVE them. Yesterday i had an insatiable thirst for cucumber and i ate a whole one in a sitting lol. A lot of them are like freaking candy to me
I sliced one up and put it in a container with a little apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Was supposed to be for my lunch the next day, but I had a taste and ate the whole thing right then, so I had to cut up another cucumber for my lunch. 😂

my favourite kind of pizza is sweet and sour BBQ chicken pizza (with pineapple of course). if you get a chance to try it, you definitely should. if a place lets you customise it and doesnt have this, the main keys are chicken, BBQ, pineapple, and if you like them, olives and mushrooms. and of course, cheese.
Honestly, I don't blame her for her reaction to falling down. Falls can be very scary for any physically disabled person, and with as much weight as her joints are supporting, I think she very well could've gotten hurt.
i'm nowhere near that weight, but i am definitively overweight, was walking down a light slope of street with some gravel on it leftover from winter, slipped, landed on one of my knees, it just burst open -like, i'm amazed the leg of my pants kept together, but skin just decided to separate 3 inches and i needed 8 stitches. so, so thankful for those pants, i would _not_ have wanted the doctor or nurse to have to dig any gravel out of a wound that deep...

Portuguese bean stew... Amazing! Rice lightly fried with a lot of pepper onion spices like saffron and then just add tofu and boil it until you get a Portuguese rice risotto... Amazing! 🤤

Thank you for making these videos. I have been on a weight loss journey for a couple years and these have been super motivating. I have lost 120 pounds now even with my hormone and thyroid issues. Its not easy and the heavier you are, the harder it is to break your habits but as long as we take it one day at a time, we can do it 💪

I was a running back but looked like D-line .
Did you get checked for hypothyroidism? That happened to me also. I gained about 50 pounds over one summer, and found out at my next doctor’s appointment I had hypothyroidism.

Regarding the 2-3 months to fix the car: Back orders on auto parts are crazy. When I worked at a dealership we had a 6 month back order on some parts, with no aftermarket options available.
I think problem with obesity is eating becomes an addiction for those people. I used to be obese as a child, now in just addicted to smoking and drinking and marijuana instead of compulsive eating. Not exactly healthier but least I look good physically now at 6'1 170. I look much better than when I was 5'4 at 260. Idk if I'm actually any healthier though since I just changed addictions to other bad things.
Addiction is self medication to deal with mental health struggles. If you ever decide you want to let these addictions go, consider entering into therapy to address whatever these addictions are covering up for you.
yeah, addiction is generally described as being a behavior you continue to do even though it’s negatively impacting your life. if you’re still functional (and not just in denial) and it’s not ruining your life, you’re probably okay. but only you can know that. obviously weight loss is good, liking how you look is very important. but so is balancing your indulgence in vices.
Loads of vegetables actually taste pretty good. You can easily make them taste better easily with prep and seasoning. Or making them crunchy in the airfryer or oven 😊
Been on some jobs when you only have 15 minutes to eat lunch. If you're really hungry, put two pieces of pizza and have a water bottle by, you can save a lot of time eating to relax for a few minutes more.
So the way I lose weight is basically what Ken said start eating vegetables. Like now I'm trying to lose weight again stew. Stew is my main food source I make it once or twice a week and primarily eat just that. And you can make it with hamburger, steak, chicken, or just beans, peppers, and veggies. Another trick is to play with seasonings. I've found out that if I use a copious amount of garlic it gets really spicy. Not a vegetarian but a stewtarian supplemented with meat.
Making your own food is really the key to losing weight. You get anything not made from scratch, then you are getting a ton of sugar slipped into your diet. Sugar gets added to everything, even things that don’t make sense, because it acts as a preservative, tastes great, and is literally addictive.
Eating fruit as well is good with helping with weight loss. After I've started eating more fruit and less junk food, I've lost about 2 and a half stone.
The sad part about all of this is that they weigh so much that not only do you eat 3x 4x 5x the amount of what the body needs but moving around the house for 10 minutes would burn calories
I had a surgery to remove a sizeable fibroid from my abdomin, was tols what was going to happen right after but didn't really come to for a few hours afterward. The doctor repeated what they said initially and that I could go home if I wanted to. Let's just say, yeah, they shut your brain off. When my brain finally turned back on, only then did I understand what I had been through and was able to make justifiable decisions.
A cow/bull out in the field eats nothing but plants and can weigh up to 2,000 pounds. This lady only weighs a mere 646 pounds, so maybe it is all from salads. I actually know this woman personally. She's a friend and I used to work with her. She has put in a lot of time and hard work to get into where she is now. And she's been able to keep a lot of the weight off. So some of the shit from the show clearly doesn't put these people in a good light. She's definitely a fighter and I'm proud of her

She worked hard, she did what she was supposed to do and is on the right path, so we should give her credit, which I do, but she still has to live with all the decisions she made in the past. So extra skin, health problems, family problems, she did that to herself and she has to live with that, and just because she lost the weight and is healthy now doesn’t mean her daughter has to treat her amazingly now, she has to deal with the repercussions of her actions. I don't understand the stigma against vegetables... Like everywhere else outside of north and south America, like u can COOK up ur veggies with whatever food you're eating, u don't just have to eat them raw or boil them, if ur making steak, u can dice em up or bake them with ur steak…. Edit: I live in Canada but I come from a Caribbean household. I get kids are picky eaters but even that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I too was picky but my mom straight up said eat and with tears in my eyes id eat my damn food 😂 I was allergic to canned alphabet soup and still ate it until I was old enough to explain to my mom that I'm pretty sure I'm allergic. But overall the wonder of food it that you can experiment mix and match. Most times you wont even taste the veggies, follow recipes do your own mad scientist thing. Have fun with food and you'll love to eat food. Canned, frozen, fresh etc.

Yeah, not sure why N American (mostly USA) culture insists veggies need to be either raw, boiled, or canned. My parents only ever prepared veggies that way & I hated them. Didn't help that they only ever got like 5 different kinds. When I got older and started experimenting with different foods & recipes, turns out I actually like veggies 😋 just when they're cooked (except peas. still hate peas 😖)

I got all of you beat. My son is on the spectrum. He has so many eating issues. So if he requests a new food, I jump on it! He often requests foods he's heard with "interesting" (to him) names.
For example: He came to me at 8 and sincerely requested baked ziti. I was stoked. I spent the whole day making fresh sauce, I got the right cheese, and went to three grocery stores to get ziti that looked most like the picture he showed me. I was so proud of this meal, yall. So proud. I presented it to my son with pride and he said "Can I have soup and crackers?" 😢

I’m a CNOR and a lot of people have the misconception that you are asleep.
You are given drugs to suspend you in unconsciousness, paralyze you (so your body doesn’t twitch or reach to stimuli during the surgical procedure), and also causing levels of amnesia to keep you from forming memories during the procedure.
You never go into any levels of sleep, you are just paused mentally. Anesthesia is a delicate balancing act, and the anesthesiologist has the patient’s life in their hands just as much as the surgeon! Love working in the OR!
Yeah, but it's a hell of a lot less scary to see "you'll be asleep for the procedure" when you're having surgery. I had my gallbladder removed a couple years ago and reading about what general anesthesia really is was pretty wild. Kudos to you for the job you do!

Anesthesia is serious business. That is why it requires a specialist. Prior to surgery, you (typically) will meet with your anesthesiologist, going over the process and preparation. It effects everyone differently and can take dangerously radical turns if any complications arise.
Epidurals are put directly into your spine, with a thick needle. During my daughter's labor, she began coming down my back and I couldn't push due to the extreme pain ... This was with an epidural already. Mid labor, the anesthesiologist had to come in, lay me sideways and attempt another delivery of epidural... Because of my contractions, my back spasmed at the same time as the needle went in, causing it to perforate a nerve and all of a sudden my entire body seized in the worst pain I've ever felt in my life, still to this day (22 years later) every vein and muscle felt like lightening was surging through me, intense - white hot - radical pain. It was an unforeseeable happening. After about 7-10 min, my body relaxed almost all at once, the immediate relief that moment was indescribable. But, now i really was dead in the lower quadrants of my body and inevitably had to use the vacuum suction thing to get her out.
After getting back to my post partum room, the anesthesiologist came to see me. Him feeling terrible about the ordeal and wanting to make sure I was okay and wanting to go over what after effects the nerve damage could present. Rigidity, shocks in the middle to lower back in the spine when bending or twisting, numbness in the lower back that can feel like pressure on your pelvis (which can lead to some incontinence, etc.) and it could go on for years.
Every now and again, if gardening or bending half way in a hunch position for long periods, when I go to stand or straighten spine, there's a flash of that searing pain and my breath catches for a moment. Then, it stops as fast as it started.
It should be scary if going under anesthesia. So, take it seriously.
I am sorry this happened to you and im grateful you took a moment to share it with the world.
My son is 35 and I still will get a pain in my spine where my epidural went in for my c-section, especially if I have to sit in a rigid hard backed chair. They need to rethink how they do it. You in labor, having contractions, curl up while all this is going on and stay as still as you possibly can while they inject a large needle into your spinal cord. Come on now, there's gotta be a better way!
My epidural with my son made my BP bottom out, it almost resulted in a crash C-section because he went into distress. Luckily he came out of it though.
This just cemented my resolve to go without the spinal for baby #2.

Thank you for making these videos. I have been on a weight loss journey for a couple years and these have been super motivating. I have lost 120 pounds now even with my hormone and thyroid issues. Its not easy and the heavier you are, the harder it is to break your habits but as long as we take it one day at a time, we can do it 💪

I think problem with obesity is eating becomes an addiction for those people. I used to be obese as a child, now in just addicted to smoking and drinking and marijuana instead of compulsive eating. Not exactly healthier but least I look good physically now at 6'1 170. I look much better than when I was 5'4 at 260. Idk if I'm actually any healthier though since I just changed addictions to other bad things.
Addiction is self medication to deal with mental health struggles. If you ever decide you want to let these addictions go, consider entering into therapy to address whatever these addictions are covering up for you.

yeah, addiction is generally described as being a behavior you continue to do even though it’s negatively impacting your life. if you’re still functional (and not just in denial) and it’s not ruining your life, you’re probably okay. but only you can know that. obviously weight loss is good, liking how you look is very important. but so is balancing your indulgence in vices.
"Compulsive" eating is a learned addiction. Alcohol and drugs are not.
Some foods are like that more than others... I picked keto and lost like 50kg in 6 months. I guess I ate bit less too, but came up with working diet.
Loads of vegetables actually taste pretty good. You can easily make them taste better easily with prep and seasoning. Or making them crunchy in the airfryer or oven 😊

Been on some jobs when you only have 15 minutes to eat lunch. If you're really hungry, put two pieces of pizza and have a water bottle by, you can save a lot of time eating to relax for a few minutes more.

So the way I lose weight is basically what Ken said start eating vegetables. Like now I'm trying to lose weight again stew. Stew is my main food source I make it once or twice a week and primarily eat just that. And you can make it with hamburger, steak, chicken, or just beans, peppers, and veggies. Another trick is to play with seasonings. I've found out that if I use a copious amount of garlic it gets really spicy. Not a vegetarian but a stewtarian supplemented with meat.
Making your own food is really the key to losing weight. You get anything not made from scratch, then you are getting a ton of sugar slipped into your diet. Sugar gets added to everything, even things that don’t make sense, because it acts as a preservative, tastes great, and is literally addictive.
Eating fruit as well is good with helping with weight loss. After I've started eating more fruit and less junk food, I've lost about 2 and a half stone.
The sad part about all of this is that they weigh so much that not only do you eat 3x 4x 5x the amount of what the body needs but moving around the house for 10 minutes would burn calories

I had a surgery to remove a sizeable fibroid from my abdomin, was tols what was going to happen right after but didn't really come to for a few hours afterward. The doctor repeated what they said initially and that I could go home if I wanted to. Let's just say, yeah, they shut your brain off. When my brain finally turned back on, only then did I understand what I had been through and was able to make justifiable decisions.

A cow/bull out in the field eats nothing but plants and can weigh up to 2,000 pounds. This lady only weighs a mere 646 pounds, so maybe it is all from salads.
Did you forget the fact a camera crew has been following you around documenting your lifestyle, but yeah, it was the salad. Maybe if you were chugging salad dressing.
