You’re doing a killer job cleaning it up and keeping it og. I’d probably change the pipes for more clearance cos I know how much low pipes suck. And get them black ceramic coated to keep them tidy. Love the progress mate 👌🏼
I’m loving this content on the VN, the car looks and sounds great. I really like the factory BT1 theme you are going with. The next two mods I would make would be sort out the air intake, that pod filter must be hot air inducting and costing you power. Also an original radio, would complete the factory look in the interior.
Yay! Another VN vid!👍🏻 Nicely done (once again), can’t wait for more... Next to do suggestions? Piss that god awful pod filter off and get a proper CAI or OTR kit? Cheers 🤘🏼
First of all great vids and a great car you have Love the sound of the motor and how you’ve kept it !!! Probably next thing I’d do is a shift kit Keep up the great work and vids
Always good to see the old VN Commodore about, don't see that many anymore. And this one looking like a proper sleeper, no other unnecessary visual mods on it, keeping looking nice & simple with a good old LS1 up front, sounding good there too. Last time i was in a VN was 12 or so years ago up here in victoria when i was on holiday a few years before i moved here, aunt & uncle had one & let it go after it'd put a bit almost 400k on the clock, with it's second engine that had somewhere over 100k on that motor. Basic silver executive sedan, usual 3.8 & 4 speed, with a calais grille & cheapo hubcaps on it, didn't think much of it back then. But now, glad i remember it still & had done a skid in their driveway in it too once as me & my uncle had gotten back to his place. That's my story about being around one, when they were pretty cheap & easy to find, now a decade later they cost a decent price for even basic ones. Take good care of this here nice machine & have good fun with it while you have it, when you end up selling it on hopefully it'll go to a good home.
I always love seeing this car come up in my recommendations, You're one of the few that don't go balls to the wall with these old classics and chuck big rims or a double high rise with a cow setup.

Interceptors are at 4 or 4.5 for space saver. As you said factory fit oem. Worked at holden spares for 12 years. Very common upgrade with drag racers. Sold tons of them. Love your vids bro. Cheers

Love it mate, great vid as always, been watching all your VN and XE vids.. current 355 VN owner myself and a previous 351 XF owner so your tastes are similar to mine 👌 Love the bonnet hinge hack, may have to apply that to my VN soon when I do a new bonnet. As for your trans shift, if it's the LS type 4L60E that shit kit can be done through the tune, if it's a cable t700 disregard what I just said. To find out your stall speed, test it's "flash point" hold it in gear at a set RPM eg: 1000 or 1500 or even 2000 while moving, then mash the pedal while watching tacho, what ever it jumps to is basically your stall speed 👍 As for what would I do next if I owned it ? I would do a very simple, cheap and neat modification.. consisting of VT booster and VT master cylinder, very easy to sort out with a bracket bought ready to go via a guy on here called Claydo Lawrence and your brakes even with factory VN rotors and pads will be 1000% better 👍 Feel free to inbox me if needed about that mod, I've done it to both my VH SLE and my VN HSV both have AMAZING brakes 👍

Hey mate those 15x4 interceptors are Monaro space saver spare wheels they are black from factory. You can also get 18x4 VT GTS space saver spare wheels that came out in the hsv Monaro’s which are yellow factory. I ran a pair of the 18x4 VT GTS space savers from the hsv Monaro on my VK as front runners had them painted in the factory VT GTS caprice silver of course.
Such a nice car mate! Next on the list for me would be - Bars - Side window Venetians - Roof Lining But if your going to drive this car a little more and want more satisfaction out of it the 3.9s upgrade and ceramic coating this paintwork maybe 😉
Bonnet, Wind screen , next your going to tell me my El Comino is called a UTE . Love the slang you guys use way more elegant than us Yanks . This stumbled onto your channel like it keep it up.
Nice burnout m8 and sounds pretty mean, the next thing id do is maybe some 19 inch walkinshaws windows tinted quick shift and group A body kit but that's just me dreaming of my dream car lol but id also love to keep it the way you got it once you've put on the badges and few minor things etc (grans taxi with power lol)... been a bit of a journey bro great job on saving/restoring the vn
@@MindieJ Haha you're spot on - Hot wheels cars is the best description I can think of in regards to how they look... I'm glad you're going to stick with 15s , I really like how you go for factory original with everything from grill to steering wheel, it looks mint and sounds phenomenal I'm a Ford V8 man in general but I'd proudly own and drive your beast
If I owned the VN, next thing I’d do is chuck an extremely choppy cam in and get it tuned for a touch more power. Love the content brother, keep it up 💪
Thank god someone else isn’t into reverse cow scoops! In my opinion I really don’t like the transmissions in these commodores, they are just not lively enough for me, and it feels like you really have to work them hard to make them respond.
The bumpers look good as is, otherwise you'd have too much grey. Next thing to fix is the roof lining. Not much more to do with the car after that except the shift kit and maybe get her tuned?
What do people think about white walls on a white VN I reckon it looks mad real old school but keen too hear other peoples opinions let’s get these comments going for our boi @Mindiej93 keep up the good work bro your editing is on point I love how you take us too see the paints getting mixed the tires being put on the wheels those little things is what makes good video can’t wait for the next one bro
Love the grille and garnish 🤙🔥 definitely needs the grey bars now.. glad the hinges worked out. Like I said think ill be doing that as well. I with you on the exhaust system, sounds mint .. although I'd probably fix the headers next they seem like a pain .. see what else you could use for better clearance.. plenty to choose from with headers now. You have dialed this car in pretty well.. how about dressing up the bay?
That sounds awesome... very nice note... Possibly even better than my AUII XR8 ute that has pacemakers high flo cats and a cam... As for what to do next, I'd be happy with it how it is now, you've done the cosmetics perfectly.. it sounds fat, it goes hard... just diff gears and if you don't think the auto has had a rebuild, do that and put a shift kit in it.. Then again I'm getting boring in my old age, in my 20s i wasted tens of thousands doing up my cars, now as long as it's a V8 with an exhaust and maybe a cam I'm happy..
Definitely sounds like a 5.0L with the stainless man, Ive got extractors and a gimler drive with a 3” on one of mine and sounds near the same. As for your last question I would go bolt in roll cage for both looks and practicality. I got one in my 94 VR BT1 5.0L and it’s painted Burple like the car with side intrusion bars and looks mint 👍🏻
Go the mighty VN. Sounds mint. I'd put 17x7.5" interceptors on it, because I still have some in the shed. The offset needs a VL diff to make them fit, so yeh, diff first.
If I owned your car Chris I would get some HDT headlight covers or genuine original ones and remove the shift light as your not sitting on limiter or running a manualised auto. Plus it will clean it up for the best. I would also match the bumpers MX grey but your already ontop of that 😊
I like that you are trying to get the car to standard and you are doing well. I think the ls1 is a good idea because the 308,s are pretty heavy and it would be good to see you do something to the engine like a cam and an exhaust to give it a nice note and a bit more punch.
If I had the car as it sits now, I would continue cleaning it up like you have been. And I would enjoy the car as much as possible, I'd use it as a weekend cruiser. (I know it doesnt help you much but thats just what I'd do lol)
Bumpers painted next... then shift kit & tune... then diff gears if needed... last once happy engine bay tidy up 👌👌👌 loven it mate, glad u ended up going the original grey 👌👌
Window tint maybe?, someone said door speakers but who needs speakers when you have a v8, maybe a led headlight conversion kit, I can’t think of anything mechanical since you’ve pointed out some in the video already, a cool classic look would be like some really thick white walls
Me personally I'd get it rego, then throw in 3.7 diff gears and billet Axel's, either a built 4l65e or th400 trans. Also might add ls engines run on a 4cyl tach signal that might help with your shift light
I'd put a nice set of mags on it to show off the slotted disc brakes. Definitely sort out the wheel rub & the trans cooler lines. The diff ratio would probably help with the shifting between 3rd & 4th. Otherwise it sounds mint & a fun car.
I would do a roof lining job, decent cut and polish, tire lettering just for an extra personal touch. I would love to own one of these execs, currently eyeing a vp exec at the moment though because it's more affordable.
Wouldn't change it much other than what your already planning ,it'll be mint once u get it all sorted 👌 Already doing turbo v6 in mine but if I was gonna start from scratch I'd go barra swap straight up 🤔 in hindsight I wish I had from the beginning lol Next one will be, wanna get a vn wagon to turn into a draggan wagon, barra, t400, 9 inch, tubs, cage, around 1500+hp and chase mid 7s and on until eventual 6s 🤔👌 (I can dream 😂) Got a n15 sss I'm tryna sell too but having no luck so was thinking of doin a k24 swap to it 🤔😂 maybe awd swap it too with turbski 🤔
If it was mine id raise the front an inch , that headliner looks foxed also ! Paint them bars definitely , then 3.9’s Your doing an awesome job mate loving the content your putting out 👍🍻🍻
My Adventra had a 4.5" Chaser rim for a spare- dunno what it came off though (it was a CX6, with the 5 spoke alloys), as every other Adventra i had seen, bar 1 CX8, had a matching spare. And next on the to do lost? I would honestly just keep tidying it up man; other than adding a few bolt on's and maybe toighten the box & diff up, its just an awesome cruiser/ sleeper
@@MindieJ There is a company here in the states called Llumar, and they make clear ceramic tint so you can put it on the windscreen too. I worked at a tint shop for a bit and it was mostly for moms who were tired of burning their ass on leather seats lol. Down there the UV is so harsh I'm sure that blocking most of it would do wonders for the interiors over the years.
I think I messaged you on insta. I did vl diff in my vn ss with 4:11 gears but it’s a 5 speed so definitely diff gears and if you can find one vl diff being shorter. Nice ride mate made me buy a 5ltr executive as well. Since doing my diff gears it’s a new car unbelievable.
Next thing I'd do is shift kit the box and add diff gears. Followed by adding some suspension work maybe adding a set of progressive springs and shocks like koni reds to match. Or get shockworks on board to make up a set of tailored coilovers. With some components from show time fabrication. And to compliment the build I would finish off with a haltech system including a ic7 to make tuning and data logging a breeze then enjoy the car and the hard work and put it all to the test. Unsure what suspension and engine management platform you are currently using though.
Nitrous and a few sets, you won't do it. Really though, roof liner, hunt down the steering wheel and get those gears in. You are smashing it mate. Think the radio silence is because you are all over it. Good content bro!
Coming along real good 👌🏼Love where you’re taking things with it! But yeah like you said diff and gearbox need some changes made obviously, looking forward to see more!

Go the mighty VN. Sounds mint.
I'd put 17x7.5" interceptors on it, because I still have some in the shed. The offset needs a VL diff to make them fit, so yeh, diff first.
yeh not really a fan of those bigger steelies
@@MindieJ gotta have that profile.
Mint vn mate 😁👍🏻🇦🇺
Really making me miss my vs lol
thanks Chris
If I owned your car Chris I would get some HDT headlight covers or genuine original ones and remove the shift light as your not sitting on limiter or running a manualised auto. Plus it will clean it up for the best. I would also match the bumpers MX grey but your already ontop of that 😊
i actually removed HDT headlight covers off this, they didnt suit
I like that you are trying to get the car to standard and you are doing well. I think the ls1 is a good idea because the 308,s are pretty heavy and it would be good to see you do something to the engine like a cam and an exhaust to give it a nice note and a bit more punch.
3O8’s are a bit junk, they sound good that’s about it, car already has headers, intake, cam, exhaust, tune, valve springs ect
Diff gears more skids, awesome car I love how you are making it appear original 👌
Thanks Matt 😄🤙🏼
Awesome videos and awesome cars, keep it up mate ✌🏻
thanks Brent appreciate it
Nice VN mate I'm from new Zealand IV had couple of them but have to say you have got mint one there good shit
Thanks Joe appreciate it
If I had the car as it sits now, I would continue cleaning it up like you have been. And I would enjoy the car as much as possible, I'd use it as a weekend cruiser. (I know it doesnt help you much but thats just what I'd do lol)
Right on
Great video hope you are having a great time down there after the covert
Things slowly getting back to normal thanks man
@@MindieJ no problem hope it gets better for you
Bumpers painted next... then shift kit & tune... then diff gears if needed... last once happy engine bay tidy up 👌👌👌 loven it mate, glad u ended up going the original grey 👌👌
thanks Andrew appreciate it
If you do end up getting new grey bars, I’d be interested in buying your current black bars.
Love your your thanks mate
thanks Jake no worries ill keep you in mind
Definitely do diff gears and keep us updated awesome rig.
That's the plan! :)
Put a bit of blue tack on the back of each bottom corner of the rear number plate. Stops the plate rattling when you drive or close the boot.
Or foam tape
Nice mate I've got a Vp v6 como in da shed good idear
get a v8 into that thing
Id be doing the headliner, oil cooler lines, and cold air intake. Just what id do. Love the vids 👌
thanks Sanji
Window tint maybe?, someone said door speakers but who needs speakers when you have a v8, maybe a led headlight conversion kit, I can’t think of anything mechanical since you’ve pointed out some in the video already, a cool classic look would be like some really thick white walls
tint and shitty LED lights are one of the first things i removed from this car, not a fan
Yes the mans back with the vn 🔥🔥
WE BACK!!
Otherwise it sounds mint & a fun car.
thanks mate appreciate it
Roof liner needs doing first, then colour match all trim.Good work mate.
Enjoyin the vids man... 🍻
Diff gears, n cam 😂
diff gears i have in the garage and already has a cam
Mate you have the car looking great! But you definitely need to sort the roof lining 👍🏼
roof lining seems to be the most popular opinion haha
Im glad your going to putting the rear badges on
yeh eventually once boot is painted again
black/ suede roof lining and shift light of some sort 😍
It has a shift light I literally talk about it in this very video 😂
lol must’ve been the part i walked away for a sec 🤣🤣
I would do a roof lining job, decent cut and polish, tire lettering just for an extra personal touch.
I would love to own one of these execs, currently eyeing a vp exec at the moment though because it's more affordable.
Wouldn't change it much other than what your already planning ,it'll be mint once u get it all sorted 👌
Already doing turbo v6 in mine but if I was gonna start from scratch I'd go barra swap straight up 🤔 in hindsight I wish I had from the beginning lol
Next one will be, wanna get a vn wagon to turn into a draggan wagon, barra, t400, 9 inch, tubs, cage, around 1500+hp and chase mid 7s and on until eventual 6s 🤔👌 (I can dream 😂)
Got a n15 sss I'm tryna sell too but having no luck so was thinking of doin a k24 swap to it 🤔😂 maybe awd swap it too with turbski 🤔
Paint the bumpers to match grill and the rear garnish. Then diff gears.
good plan Mark
I have the same problem with the hood sagging down and the wipers hit it, I just put washers under the hinge to push it up.
Whatever you gotta do to get it to work haha
Hey mate, how is the speedo wired to the dash from the box? I'm putting a ls1 into a VP and wanting to keep factory speedo with 4l60e...?
i show exactly how to do it in this video
ua-cam.com/video/0uc3Jw1JAw8/v-deo.html
Hey mate, one small thing I would change would be to change the radio to the standard exec Eurovox headunit.
Yep I’m on the hunt for one of those also 😄
If it was mine id raise the front an inch , that headliner looks foxed also !
Paint them bars definitely , then 3.9’s
Your doing an awesome job mate loving the content your putting out 👍🍻🍻
thanks man yeh definitely need to raise the front
My Adventra had a 4.5" Chaser rim for a spare- dunno what it came off though (it was a CX6, with the 5 spoke alloys), as every other Adventra i had seen, bar 1 CX8, had a matching spare.
And next on the to do lost? I would honestly just keep tidying it up man; other than adding a few bolt on's and maybe toighten the box & diff up, its just an awesome cruiser/ sleeper
Clear UV tint to keep the trims and interior from baking, or tuck the headers.
tuck the headers is a must but tint i removed when i got this car, not a fan
@@MindieJ There is a company here in the states called Llumar, and they make clear ceramic tint so you can put it on the windscreen too.
I worked at a tint shop for a bit and it was mostly for moms who were tired of burning their ass on leather seats lol. Down there the UV is so harsh I'm sure that blocking most of it would do wonders for the interiors over the years.
Clear blinker on the front , nice ride bud
it has clear indicators
Love the vids, I have a similar intake on my ls VL and wondering if your intake temps get up there as mine seem to,
No idea I don’t have an intake temp gauge haha
you can tilt top of rad back 20mm in vl and run a VT/VX ls1 OTR. thats what i had on my VL but now i have a vic jnr
Love the car bro, very clean example..
Im currently building a cruiser vn group a replica.
Thanks man and Goodluck with your project
I think I messaged you on insta. I did vl diff in my vn ss with 4:11 gears but it’s a 5 speed so definitely diff gears and if you can find one vl diff being shorter. Nice ride mate made me buy a 5ltr executive as well. Since doing my diff gears it’s a new car unbelievable.
haha good to hear
Chuck ur car on dyno the tuner be able play with shift point parameters to shift better for ya mate. Nice car love it 👌
Yeh I will eventually
Looking very nice bro I just got a vn 3.8l v6 ubuick got her running just need to make her look nice
Goodluck with it man 😄🤙🏼
Next thing I'd do is shift kit the box and add diff gears.
You’re way behind haha this video is over a year old
Cool vids bro keep and them coming and how did you go getting the vn on the road did you need engineering done for club rego
thanks man appreciate it
Nitrous and a few sets, you won't do it.
Really though, roof liner, hunt down the steering wheel and get those gears in. You are smashing it mate. Think the radio silence is because you are all over it. Good content bro!
thanks James appreciate it, hunt down what steering wheel?
Agreed grey bars coming together nice
will finish off the exterior nicely
Definitely a clean old girl. If I owned it would probably just diff gears and get the box shift kitted.
yep pretty much the plan is exactly that
Coming along real good 👌🏼Love where you’re taking things with it! But yeah like you said diff and gearbox need some changes made obviously, looking forward to see more!
thanks Dan yeh slowly ticking off all the boxes
V8 badge is wrong for executive stock badge has no red in it thats a ss badge. Love the grill heaps better than the letter box one
ive seen many factory 5L execs with the red 5.0 badge from new
@@MindieJ fair enough
