Sure. This works if you are still on the same network. What if you have a chromecast that was set up on a different network and then you move the cast to say a new house with a different wifi. How do you reset it then? Ie with a flashing white light
Just figured this out. Hold the rest button for at least 30 seconds. The other key is connecting to *YOUR Chromecast (usually Chromecast****) when connecting to a WIFI network * , the app will prompt you to connect to your new network. Also make sure your Bluetooth is on.

Hi, I know I am late to the game.. but I recently found my old Chromecast Gen 1 receiver.. I was wondering if I can pair a replacement Chromecast remote to it so that I can use it with that receiver? Unless the gen 1 was only used to cast from your phone? (Which I can do). I guess. I was hoping I could do more with it.
this doesn't work any longer. I factory reset it and google home app finds it and it tries to at it but at the end it fails and says something went wrong

Just have a solid red light that stays solid red no matter how long the reset button is pressed,obviously home app will not detect, was ok till I swapped device to new TV , can you help?
same thing...been working fine all these years in my Sony TV and now it's stuck on red no matter how long I hold the button....any luck with urs?
@@sal2103 no, I purchased the latest gen and that worked first time so I guess the earlier gen is no longer compatible with modern TVs
@@PhilDavies-sd2sq I think it's packed up....I've unplugged it and power it with a main usb but the red light stays fixed

I tried this and couldn't do anything but stream music. No video.
Very strange. I wonder if there’s a problem with your HDMI port. We’ve never experienced anything like this before. Maybe somebody in the comments can help.
Doesn't help me - like Oceloti my phone will not see it so gonna have to buy a new one...sad face
