@lasest2 Not entirely true. There is some quality people/content on instagram, you just have to find them through the clouded smoke that is those you talk about.
"I was in traffic today behind a beautiful BMW. I got out and asked the BMW owner who he was. He said his name is Josh Dulluth. I then had an idea. Our marketing team has gimmicks to attract market share from Tesla and BMW using only social media hype. Please buy a Josh Dulluth motors car so I can become a rich snob and buy the BMW Josh Dulluth drives. Thx." Does this story sound trashy and shallow? That's because it is the Daniel Wellington story.
@john m i really feel sad for the car industry, tesla is like apple in tech industry , rely heavily on marketing hype among young ppl, i swear young people are easily brainwashed these days, thankfully im not one of them, been boycotting companies like apple since i was 10
@john m Tesla is at least making some improvements in car history, they have ton of patents that are open to public and can be used by everyone. A lot of el. cars today use Tesla as their "guide" as it set a bar what a modern el. car should be. It's true that quality still isn't as good as 100y old german manufacturers but it's getting there, still plenty of things to learn.
@@Yddp3307 I can't tell about tesla, however apple is not a DW in tech. Currently I have an iP 6s which I bought in 2015, now running iOS 13 beta (the newest OS) while having zero issues with it. still fast, durable (nothing broke for 4 years of heavy use) and Apple changed my battery for free after 1.5 y since i bought it, because there were issues with it (i didnt have any extented warranty). On the other hand, one of my friends still has a S6 Edge which is also from 2015 and is super laggy, super old OS, the screen is burned out so you can hardly tell the time and components are wibbly. both phones around $750 at retail in EU
@@Mivrox very shitty comparison considering you are two different people that take care of your phones differently. I had an s4 that lasted be 5 years before the charging port went and that phone went everywhere. It was banged up and sandfilled and still worked perfectly. I just took the battery out, charged, and popped it back in. That being said, you'll always end up saving with an Android simply because Apple devices nowadays at least, are designed to be nearly unrepairable and are more fragile than ever. Older devices, in general, were more durable. You can find dozens of videos of people exposing Apple devices and repair recommending a brand new device because of a simple design issue with their products.
I was so close to buying one or two with a discount code from an influencer and this video came up with a bit of research on my end. So glad I did. I’ll be saving my money. Thanks!
100 percent better? You do realize that what you just said is that a Seiko 5 is only twice as good as a DW. That is horological slander to the great name of Seiko.
The only reason why the DW brand has done well is by taking advantage of the social media marketing. They give a commission to a tonne of affiliated influencers. They can afford to do this with their massive markups. The modern influencers literally do not give a crap about style. They just want to get paid
Well we can learn a few things from DW here on how to start and sell a watch business. 1. Fancy British name 2. Advertising on social media 3. Use celebrities as sponsors 3. Fashion is first 4. Thinner the better 5. Minimalistic design 6. Quartz movement 7. Always use Chinese sweatshops
It all comes down to advertising. They took a page out of Rolex's/Tag's ad playbook but made them affordable to fill price point void in the market. Marketing 101. If they were smart their next step would be to start also making higher end/ higher quality watches to get a little real respect. Otherwise once the word gets out on the quality issues, their popularity will crash.
@@bogusparasite6655 I have both, and trust me the feel of the F-91 is just nicer somehow, I wear it EVERYWHERE! I have a small watch collection but whenever I have some adventure to go on or just simply need something on my wrist right away, I always find myself reaching for it. :)
Where I worked, there was a controller wearing this one. He most likely wasn't into watches at all, but I thought, what watch does better represent the work of a controller? Reading numbers, cost efficient and yet reliable. For me, in a job interview this watch would have been a clear pro for this guy.
Time are generally completely uninteresting and uninspiring to me. There are a few new automatics that look nice, but generally, I would get a Casio instead any day.
You can have a Timex, a Seiko 5 and a $5 Alibaba DW knock off for the same price as a Daniel Wellington... never mind ‘less is more’, sometimes more is more
@@RykerSpeaks Well, I think in the hierarchy of fashion watches, MVMT is slightly above. But, Rolex, considering it's complete lack of heritage, is still below DW...

Ben Arthur recently posted a video comparing two ‘fakes’ with the real thing. On closer inspection the cheaper fake clearly isn’t the same watch. The $20 watch was completely indistinguishable from a real DW.
@@wifine1951 Just look for Ben Arthur's channel. It's one of the newest videos there. The $20 watch was literally the same one as the original Daniel Wellington.
Depends on what the price range is. Bambino undoubtedly a great choice for under $1000, along with Seiko Presage. For slightly more, I love the Hamilton Jazzmaster series.

Orlando Burdon exactly. And companies like seiko too. I constantly get bombarded with mvmt, vincero, and dw ads even though I don't go on their websites or look at their watches. I'm constantly searching for seikos, orient, omega, tissot, etc etc and I have never gotten an ad from them. I'd love it if these brands would promote their items more and get people interested in their watches over mvmt and all these other trash watch brands.
@@brackpersian Exactly, there's a reason why Rolex is one of the most valuable companies in the world and the most valuable watch company. They do everything they can not to market their watches like these social media marketing watch companies and currently boosting their demand by limited supply. Plus, the demographic age these companies are targeting are young and would not be able to afford high end Swiss time pieces so they would essentially be blowing their marketing budget for some superficial likes and comments which would do nothing for them.
@@Ash12428 The reason you are getting bombarded with these crap watch companies is because they target people with their marketing campaigns who "like" seikos, omegas, tissots, etc. via the Facebook / IG algorithm. I run these social media marketing campaigns, not for watches but for other type of products and we all target these famous interests.
@@Ash12428 Seiko isn't Swiss like the OP was implying, but I have gotten some ads on Instagram from them, also G-Shock, specifically the $800+ ones for some reason.
It's not just marketing in the sense of advertising, it's the price point also. Most traditional brands just aren't affordable to MVMT's and DW's target market, and those that are affordable don't offer the right design and size. People want these big dress watches and they use them more as fashion accessories than as status symbols. They can't afford the traditional dress watch brands but they don't want a $20 watch either, that's why these new brands are so popular.
JerehmiaBoaz There certainly are affordable watches at a similar price point or cheaper. Most people don't know about them though because they want watches as a fashion accessory. We can't blame them considering there isn't much use for watches now other than jewelery and to show status with ACTUAL luxury watches
@@MrSamusdark I know there are better watches for the same price but because people want watches as a fashion accessory, the watches need to look right and follow the fashion trend of the day. That isn't something traditional watch brands generally offer (it took them years to react to the demand for blue dials for instance).
Yeah I agree, but to an extent, Tag Hauer doesen't need to advertise "as seen on Kylie Jenner" or pay for celebrity endorsements, because they simply don't market to the same customer. However they definitely could make cool marketing campaigns and things like that
isnt the fact that people are still paying five digits for technically outdated technology (arguably 3-4000 manufacturing, parts and labor and charging 12000), technically a scam? every watch snob who says automatics are better are just as hoodwinked, if not more, as those who buy DW watches?
I've had a friend who sported one of those... it lasted 8 months before the chassis completely destroyed itself, barely even touched it. My grandpa's 1942 Panerai still clocks and never missed a bit, and the blasted thing got grenades thrown at it from the Brits, the Greeks and the Germans.

That $10 no name watch from Walmart is exactly the same watch , it's from the same factory , made of the same materials ,just without the branding , I can't believe anyone would pay for brand equity of a company that has no heritage or intrinsic value
I bought an Armani watch a year ago and returned it a day after. 2 weeks later I was proudly wearing a Seiko 5. These fashion watch’s really made me a watch enthusiast.
I got an AR1421 for my birthday. I personally dont like fashion watches, and if I had to choose I'd pick a Seiko, but the chronograph on that armani watch is not bad at all(ronda 5030 movement, nothing special) and is really interesting to use and is a really good looking watch. I must say I thought they were a lot worse but they're not bad at all
What an Irony. We blame DW for not knowing what art is and for its lazy and un-innovative design but we suggest luxury brands copy DW design to take back sales!!!!
Orient makes a ton of dress watches that clean DW's clock on every point from quality to design to value. Why waste your money on such rubbish? Check out the Orient Symphony for minimalist style, or just go with a Bambino. They've stuck with classic designs for a reason.
Casio F91W is one of the best watches in the world. You get a stopwatch for sports activities, digital time for more precise timetelling, an alarm for waking up AND you can hook it up to trigger an IED. Show me a Rolex that can do all those things.
The good news is that Daniel Wellington store in San Francisco, where I live, got closed. I am happy to know that people in this city still have some taste 😀
One day at the office, One of the bosses noticed that I was wearing a new watch. She said, "Is that a Daniel Wellington?". I replied with, "No boss, this is a Timex." I then added that it costed me around $40 and that it lights up when you push the crown, when you need to read the time when it's dark. I was wearing a Timex Fairfield 41mm, and I gave this watch to my fiancé so that she can atleast understand the joy of this hobby.
Oh yeah. I bought a Hamilton with a 2824 for the same price as this ccc. Some people just don"t care. This is, after all, a niche interest. I appreciate the history, but many couldn't care about horology in the least. Daniel Wellington is for them. The genuine articles are for us.
You can buy a Swatch Irony Skin for 100 euros... it’s Swiss made, accurate watch and it’s very thin and classy... I got a 28 years old swatch still working 😊
This is a quite fascinating coincidence: Before I was about to rewatch this great video (which I as a Swede think should be mandatory for every young person who's about to buy a watch), I happened to watch an episode of a Swedish "lifestyle show" which was rerun quite late at night. They have two hosts: An artist well known here, and another guy who's supposed to be an expert on lifestyle stuff like food, dressing, beverages etc. They both banter off a little at each other in an entertaining way. In this episode they had a watch theme. The "expert host" rightly visited Sjöö-Sandström, which is one of the few watchmakers we've had in Sweden. Really cool to see their little manufactory with a shop in southern central Stocholm. Great idea for this episode. They also had a morning-TV host showing some of his interesting and expensive collection of vintage watches. Again, great. Then the same guy presents his idea of five interesting watches in various values. I actually don't remember the fourth one now, but it was an Omega Deville, a Rolex Datejust, and finally his Certina inherited from his grandfather (which of course was the priceless one, due to the affection). Again, all fine and dandy. HOWEVER, (and here's finally the point after the tl; dr) he started with in his opinion a nice and elegant entry level watch from these five ones (the most interesting aspect for me, the others felt like "the usual suspects"). I was hoping for something like Orient Bambino, Tissot Everytime etc. Well, guess what brand came up. Guess my level of severe disappointment. Guess why I reacted over-dramatically like Charlton Heston in the ending of Planet of the Apes.
no its not. luxurious people actually look down on brands like seiko because they make affordable watches for people who can't buy a rolex or another luxury watch brand
Well Tristano, I never thought I would hear anything negative from you! However, what you say is valid, and the criticism offered is done with a smile on your face. I think you nailed it when you said the CEO was trained in business and not art. Everything is done on the cheap to maximise profits with little or no quality. It does prove the old adage though - If you want somebodies money, just ask them for it! Affordable watches at this level? Seiko, Citizen, Orient and even Casio.
Thank you George, Sometimes, in order to stand up for the things we love, we have to get a bit negative. As for your recommendations, absolutely bang on!!! Best regards, TGV
I think his channel represents everything that is Anti-DW ☠️ The Episode was superbly thought out and hopefully gets played out for an even greater audience over time. I will share on my social media and talk about my renewed journey into Watches and benefiting immensely from UGC. The only issues I have and I’m knit picking somewhat are terms like ‘entry level’ or ‘even a Casio’. It’s certainly not snobbery but... it’s kind of hedging it. I mean who wants to hear that if you go to buy a car and have it put into that sort of category. Oh I’m driving around in my new ‘entry level’ car, yea! To me this is what fuels a brand like DW, even that mentality not necessarily the blatant snobbery. If something is superbly designed to the point of being timeless, then it’s not about the price or obtainability it can come in at any price. If I can afford to buy it or not as a designer I admire and appreciate it no matter what. I think DW is a ‘Marketing Ploy’ watch not really a fashion watch too. I think that would be a better definition and understanding. I think to some degree ‘fashion’ is an okay term and can influence design for some timeless Watches. I think to some degree all Watches have styling with some degree of what would be fashionable in them even if it’s a retro design. I think the Watch industry needs to embrace this concept too☝🏼 Brian Knight @TheKnightTP
@@allrightknight DW starts to edge into the grey area of a trick. Marketing is its only virtue. You can buy the same watch from the same factory with a different (or no) name on the dial for around $10. Timex Marlin looks great but the new reissues are probably not that much greater in quality than a Daniel Wellington seeing as they are Made in China pieces from the lower-end manufacturers.
I'm learning a lot about watches... I'm researching a lot about watches... I'm starting a hobby that I myself didn't know gonna get so passionate about. As you said, people should know more about watches. Thank you for this channel and thanks to the people that comment here. I'm learning! Regards from Dominican Republic.
Now, I know this is years old. I was at the bar in my local pub and someone wearing a lovely Daniel made comment that his watch was the same as my Nomis tangente. Did I do the right thing to agree.
We here in Japan are laughing at these DW watches. Although, I commend the briliance in their marketing. In short, these watches are the cheapest watch, given usually by companies, weddings, airlines, hotels, Embassies, Government Organisations, etc as a thank you token for attending. I have countless of these watches given to me at every Diplomatic functions or Summit. I recognize straight away from the hour and minute hand as well as the lowest quality strap. These watches will lasts few months max and probably a year if lucky and unworn. My family, tend to order these cheap watches when they host a Diplomatic receptions at our residence. As an Ambassador in a Diplomatic Corp, we give gifts just as a formality to our guests but we'll never give these out to our VIP guests. When we mass order, we can instruct the factory to put any brand or logo we desire. This is exactly what Daniel Wellington Company did. Just slap a British name and create a simple back story where nobody can back it up. I would have more satisfaction wearing a cheap knockoff, not that I would, than any of these Daniel Wellingtons. Not even if they pay me to wear these. Good video educating and informing the unaware new watch enthusiasts.
Because knowing about an orient bambino is much less common. Also, bambino’s are a bit thicker. I actually like slim quartz dress watches. DW would not be my first choice but let’s see these watches as what they are
I think that if Timex marketed the Fairfield as heavily as MVMT and DW marketed their watches they’d rule the market. A DW is just a massively overpriced Fairfield that’s not even up to the latter’s standard. For the price of a Daniel Wellington, I’d personally prefer a more classic, 60s sort of look. The Timex Marlin reissue is one of the best, and if I were to go with an even more minimalist design I’d consider something a bit different, like a vintage Poljot Deluxe. Seiko even has many watches that could compete well for less, like the SNKL41.
Peter Aremone To be fair, MVMT doesn’t sound particularly upmarket either, and they sell well. Similarly, I see Nixon everywhere and they don’t sound as posh as Daniel Wellington. The key seems to be marketing when it comes to selling at lower price points from what I’ve seen at least.
In this video, we see how a gentleman explains his ideas with remarkable clarity, respect, truth, and fair judgment. Seiko5 at any day, hands down. Nothing more distant from horology than this shallow consumerism, hollow immediatism and lacking substance of this example of marketing operation. One of your best productions, TGV. I'm a huge fan of your work!
I'm thinking of getting a tissot le locle powermatic 80 as my first dress watch (I would get it as a gift from my parents on my graduation from college). What do you guys think of this choice? I just love the elegance and detail
The success of DW and MVMT is pretty easy to explain: They put their effort into advertising. And as you said, they're aiming for the younger crowd. Unless you've actually been shopping for one, when's the last time you saw a Seiko ad online? A Timex ad? And I think overreaching (for lack of a better word) is also a problem. If I bought a Seiko 5 from you for $75, what in Jeebus's name makes you think showing me a Grand Seiko ad is going to get you a sale?
The Grand Seiko is aspirational. Like how B&W is producing the Nautilus... how many are buying one? You make and market high end models in order to attract people to the brand. If they can make something great, the more affordable products surely must be good too. There is one more thing to DW and MVMT: They make watches that normal people like. Just from a visual standpoint, I'd much rather get one of those than a Seiko 5. Seiko doesn't have to stop making the watches they do, but they should hire good designers who cater to the more minimalist style. I'm wearing a Jacob Jensen, which has the name embossed on the case... That's the only branding there is. It's as minimal as it can be without losing too much functionality. Show me something gorgeous, Seiko, and I will buy it. But I can't find anything from them. If you have anything written on them, the font needs to be perfect. Perfectly chosen, spaced and sized. How about the designers behind Farer? Those are some incredibly good looking watches. Sleek but playful. Like Nomos, but different.
I was planning to buy an MVMT. Then watched your "10 better alternatives" video. Now I am a happy owner of a Seiko SSA339J1. The first watch that I ever bought. Not counting that old Tissot I got for my 18th birthday 10 years ago. Thank you for making these videos!
This is one of your best videos TGV! Well done! Thanks for giving me a greater enthusiasm for watches. Someone should ask you to be a consultant (calling Seiko, Swatch, Citizen, Sinn).
The DW Classic St Mawes is £159, I bought a Tissot T-Classic Dream new from a recognized, reputable longstanding jeweller and watchmaker for £155. No comparison, not in the same league. It's like being offered a diamond and a cubic zirconia for the same price and taking the zirconia becasue it's bigger. Total insanity.
While I'm no expert, and can't disagree with anything you said, there is one important value in that a cheap watch can help more people enter the market who otherwise might never have. Having a cheap watch on one's wrist cultivates a lust for a better watch. I think that's actually important.
Hello Sir, I'm planning to get myself a Citizen watch, more precisely the CA0650-56E, chose that one because of my current budget. If you like, can you give me an opinion on that one in particular, and give me some recommendation about budget-friendly brands. Thanks and as usual, great content.
Hi I’ve just got myself a Tissot seastar 1000 powermatic 80. What do you think to this watch? Hopefully in a few years I’ll upgrade to an Omega seasmaster.
Ah the infamous Alpha M video. When I watched that and he was coming across so demented I felt as if there was someone from MVMT stood off-camera holding a gun at him.
Music to my ears - not because I love or hate DW - I actually don’t care. But I love long-lasting, reasonable quality, thoughtfully designed products - my absolute passion and inspiration. And videos like this one in my opinion help more of us out there make conscious decisions and better appreciate instruments that will age with us. Thanks for yet another great video and best wishes from Kyiv, Ukraine 🇺🇦
The Chinese manufacturing spectrum is really incredible. The knife industry is also in a very similar position. There's TONS of cheap chinese kitchen knives, but at the top there's now also quality that rivals top end German and Japanese made knives, especially for the money.
As a Swede, I am deeply ashamed about this brand. I hope you will all forgive the Swedes in time. I’m also very sorry about ABBA, IKEA, Swedish House and all other pop culture brands dumbing us all down. Accept my humble apology.
Well said, sir! Affordable alternatives, there are many. Seiko, of course, comes to mind. Especially the Seiko 5 line. Orient and Citizen would be another I'd suggest. Even some micro-brands that have been putting out such quality like Helm, Spinnaker and Lorier would a much better choice.
I deeply disagree. I have many rather expensive watches, but the fillippo watches I bought are still my absolute favorite. I find the design stunning and the quality is really really good. Way better than DW, but yet is almost just as cheap
Really enjoyed this video matey. I don't feel any sympathy for those who can't be bothered to carry out the most rudimentary of research when buying a watch, any watch. It's an indictment of the days in which we live.
The watch industry seems very misunderstood by the general public. The kind of people that buy these kind of watches are the same kind of people that can’t understand the difference between a $500 and up firearm and think a $250 firearm is the same thing.
"everybody should be into watches" lol That's like saying, 'everybody should be into spatulas'. I personally like the OXO stainless. It has 4 differing diameter holes in it's face arranged in a traditional pattern. In a beautiful synchronicity, it is equipped with a beautifully executed synthetic rubber inlay that falls naturally to hand. Into this, the classic OXO in red is subtly double inlayed in an even more durable material. Perfection in form and function. (not to be used on non-stick pans)
I know the stigma of the watch crowd against Daniel Wellington but it's what got me interested in watches. Never used to wear watches until my girlfriend gifted me a Daniel Wellington. I wore it for a year till I couldn't go out of the house without a watch on my wrist - broke the strap one day and then started researching about what straps to buy - stumbled upon the watch community: forums videos and whatnot and then fell in love with the mechanical watches. So now I have a slowly growing watch collection but the Daniel Wellington still has a honored place in my watchbox along with the fond memory of how my appreciation for watches all began.
@The Urban Gentry, what’s your opinion of Haurex? I bought an Armata automatic a few years ago from the upscale/clearinghouse guy we all know we shouldn’t buy from. Actually I’ve bought three watches from him, a nice Dunhill, and the Haurex Armata, both of which are fine. But the other Haurex Mamba Quartz arrived with a broken crown, and he refused to refund without a restocking charge. Lesson learned. The Armata is actually rather a decent design. Someone did some decent work. Sadly it’s let down by poor waterproofing. But even though it’s only got a cheap movement, it runs nicely. I’d be very interested to hear your impressions. Thank you for sharing your great insight into this wonderfully varied and fascinating field. Always enjoy your vids.

It's hard to believe that people are buying DW when Seiko and Orient for instance are selling SKX / Bambino in the same price range
Don't know if Citizen still make the Eagle, but I bought one for about 40$ and it's amazing. Basically the alternative to Seiko5 and Orient 3star.
Seiko 5 is one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century :)
100 percent better? You do realize that what you just said is that a Seiko 5 is only twice as good as a DW. That is horological slander to the great name of Seiko.

You know you’re havin’ a bad drug trip when you hallucinate a DW watch on your wrist, lol
haha yeah thats a bad trip
Yeah. That was so funny. I like this dude. I'm subbed.
The only reason why the DW brand has done well is by taking advantage of the social media marketing. They give a commission to a tonne of affiliated influencers. They can afford to do this with their massive markups. The modern influencers literally do not give a crap about style. They just want to get paid
I hate so-called "influencers" devoid of any substance
Sounds like the Fyre Festival of watches except the customers haven't realized yet that they've been duped.
Who the hell is an 'influencer'?😂😄😅😆😁
they also focus on a younger age group, which is much less saturated
I try to stay away from Instagram on principle cause of this massive influx of influencers. MVMT and The Fifth do the same kind of thing.
Well we can learn a few things from DW here on how to start and sell a watch business.
1. Fancy British name
2. Advertising on social media
3. Use celebrities as sponsors
3. Fashion is first
4. Thinner the better
5. Minimalistic design
6. Quartz movement
7. Always use Chinese sweatshops
LOL ikr.
You left out "make sure quality is terrible"
It all comes down to advertising. They took a page out of Rolex's/Tag's ad playbook but made them affordable to fill price point void in the market. Marketing 101. If they were smart their next step would be to start also making higher end/ higher quality watches to get a little real respect. Otherwise once the word gets out on the quality issues, their popularity will crash.

I really think these Swiss brands could learn a lot from the marketing strategy of dw mvmt ect
I'd love it if these brands would promote their items more and get people interested in their watches over mvmt and all these other trash watch brands.
however once you do a marketing like MVMT or DW, your perceived value drops....
While DW, MVMT and these other online watch brands are horrible, they definitely are great at marketing. Traditional watch brands need to take notes.
Mateo exactly this.

I think the Watch industry needs to embrace this concept too☝🏼

So you give people shitty watches? Is that supposed to be a low key flex?
How a person can wear a DW over something like an Orient Bambino is just baffling to me
Because knowing about an orient bambino is much less common.
Get the small seconds version of the Fairfield unless you enjoy loud ticking.
Peter Aremone
To be fair, MVMT doesn’t sound particularly upmarket either, and they sell well.

Omg I thought I was alone on this, I'm not a watch enthusiast but when I first saw this brand I felt insulted by its price tag and lack of quality.
Great comment. The marketing hits home with the younger crowd and their mindset of buying what a kardashian tells them.

Maybe Macy’s should start selling Seiko 5s.
No money in that
Jc Penney does sale seikos watches
You can get much much better watches at the same price.
Hello Sir, I'm planning to get myself a Citizen watch, more precisely the CA0650-56E, chose that one because of my current budget. If you like, can you give me an opinion on that one in particular, and give me some recommendation about budget-friendly brands.
Thanks and as usual, great content.
Citizen do a nice range of high quality yet affordable wristwatches.

yea in in love with my pro diver ecodrive
A fine essay on the Daniel Wellington watch and what it represents.
I got so excited about the intro I stopped the video and bought myself a Casio F91W lol!
Hi I’ve just got myself a Tissot seastar 1000 powermatic 80. What do you think to this watch?
Hopefully in a few years I’ll upgrade to an Omega seasmaster.
Oh my god. I couldn't get myself to "proceed to checkout" in the DW online store for hours and I couldn't tell why. I am so glad I saw your video.
TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT URBAN GENTRY CHANNEL! HELP THEM SAVE THEIR MONEY!
Thanks to your channel I was able to avoid buying a DW watch collection and instead started a mix of timex and orient watch collection.
I'am a watchmaker, me and all my watchmaker buddys simply hate that brand, it's a horrorbly POS Watch.
I am not a watchmaker, and I *HATE* that particular POS. I can´t understand why would anyone pay as much as 250USD for a watch that cost $5 to make.
Genius way to address the Alpha M infomercial. Great video!
Oh snap. Got em.!
Ah the infamous Alpha M video. When I watched that and he was coming across so demented I felt as if there was someone from MVMT stood off-camera holding a gun at him.
Tony Pluto More like waving a check and adding zeroes.
@@eyeheartsushi2212 Yeah that could explain the insanity
Honestly, all swiss manufacturers should take marketing lessons from DW and MVMT, and as always outstanding video
As a Swede, I am deeply ashamed about this brand. I hope you will all forgive the Swedes in time. I’m also very sorry about ABBA, IKEA, Swedish House and all other pop culture brands dumbing us all down. Accept my humble apology.
Id rather buy a Bambino Gen2 for the price of a DW

Thank you Eli,
Best regards,

You are absolutely correct about superficiality when it comes to watches
That's exactly what I did.

How long did you wash your wrist in vinegar for after the skit?
New subscribers! You said 33-39 mm is a timeless size for dress watch. What is the classic size for a diver or weekender (causal) watch?
Should I call the doctor if the loss of snobbery lasts 4 hours or more?
Well said, sir! Affordable alternatives, there are many. Seiko, of course, comes to mind. Especially the Seiko 5 line. Orient and Citizen would be another I'd suggest. Even some micro-brands that have been putting out such quality like Helm, Spinnaker and Lorier would a much better choice.
Another brand I see a lot of people falling victim to impressive marketing for is Filippo Loreti on Kickstarter.
I deeply disagree. I have many rather expensive watches, but the fillippo watches I bought are still my absolute favorite. I find the design stunning and the quality is really really good. Way better than DW, but yet is almost just as cheap
Simon Tao Jakobsen You're either being paid or you're a complete moron
Really enjoyed this video matey. I don't feel any sympathy for those who can't be bothered to carry out the most rudimentary of research when buying a watch, any watch. It's an indictment of the days in which we live.
The watch industry seems very misunderstood by the general public. The kind of people that buy these kind of watches are the same kind of people that can’t understand the difference between a $500 and up firearm and think a $250 firearm is the same thing.
Watched this to see how many synonyms exist for the word ghastly.
I'd say DW is today's Skagen Denmark but, to be fair, even Skagen had better minimalist designs and automatic Miyota movements.
"everybody should be into watches" lol
That's like saying, 'everybody should be into spatulas'.
Ah yes, OXO, typically more expensive than other kitchen tools but they're so nice to handle!! I prefer silicone spatulas myself.
Gorgeous kitchen equipment.
