Come along for a ride on the Skunk Train in the California Redwoods.
Starting out in Willits, CA (1391ft) we climb to the summit (1740ft), then make our way down the windy track to Northspur (358ft). As we descend the 3.5% grade, the track zigzags numerous times over a distance of 8.5 miles in order to travel only one mile, as the crow flies. In Northspur we break for lunch while the locomotive is turned around on the wye. Watch as the the conductor guides the locomotive (engineer) to a smooth coupling back onto the train for our return trip to Willits.
From a couple of sources online the Skunk Train has not run to Northspur since 2018 due to one of the bridges needing replacement.

That looks like a cool train ride in California!
Really cool video of this train ride in the state of California.
Thank you! 🙂 It was a neat train trip for sure. I'm glad you liked it.
@@100m.p.h. Thanks. I had went to the Skunk Train yesterday at Fort Bragg, California. It was really short because the near by tunnel was closed due a collapsed inside back 10 years ago in 2013. The conductor of the train, said that they are planning on reopening the tunnel in the next couple years in 2025.
@@nathancorcoran5347 Hopefully it opens soon it would be neat do do the entire trip. 🙂
