Locomotive Cab Ride Westbound Through the Rockies on the Laggan Sub

At the 6:55 mark is that a hot box detector next to the track? Also interesting that there is a small yard in what seems to be the middle of nowhere.

That's a flange lubricator, meant to reduce friction of the wheel flanges in curves. The yard is at Gap, which isn't far from Exshaw. There are two fairly large industrial operations in the area, but I frequently found MOW gear at Gap.
