Great! Again! 'The Lebanon' was a secret joy of mine, wrong on different levels for me but... that punky Adverts bass intro and screeching guitar just keeps me in Thanks for this
1:21 "You Don't Need Me, To Help You Anymore" After Crash album. It actually happened to Ian Burden, As I read in interview. His suggestion and opinion often lose to Phil, Susan, Joanne and both sides lifestyle begin to completely different, So he left the group.
Man that was brilliant even if the Human League had changed their sound and look. Phil swapped the lop-sided hairdo for a quiff, made him look a bit Elvis-ish while Joanne and Susan were sporting serious shoulder pads. One thing I noticed was that there was less synths and more guitar, bass and a live drummer, something the League never used in their early days.
I think by this point Adrian Wright must've left the band. I recognise Ian Burden on bass guitar, but not the guitarist or the 2 keyboard players. Perhaps they were session musicians drafted in for the tour. Very solid players though!
Is that Russell Dennett on guitar ? And who's the guy in the first keyboard (He looks like Paul Shurey from Bollock Brothers very much) but I think the second keyboardist was Neil Sutton :) And Jim Russell drumming was the MVP of this live :)
The problem is not Phil - it's the girls. Sure they weren't great, but the sound technician never had the guts to mix them higher. They are virtually inaudible, as per usual.
My life time special heroes IE The 2 Human League sweet ❤️ s IE Queen Joanne Catherall ❤️ Queen Susan Sulley ❤️& King Philip Oakey 2 . B4 anyone who is now wondering about the reason 4y . The female vocals are, as ever, out of tune. In an alternative universe, the League would have stayed in their original lineup to become a much-admired cult electronic act like Cabaret Voltaire.

What is so heartbreaking is that a song like "The lebanon" is still totally relevant. The fighting never stops.
Guapísimo Philip ❤️ y qué voz! 😘

that Snare Drum sound is killer. What every goth band would give for that :)
This is really incredible, playing live, it doesn't matter if there are errors, how incredible! Thank you very much for this gem

Great music. I'm loving everything from the 80s. Liked and subscribed 👍
Thanks for the sub!
Qué diferente que se expresa la banda, sobre todo Phil Oakey, cuando toca de verdad en vez de hacer playback.
Me encanta!
Gracias por ver y comentar.
Thank you for this great video!
You are so welcome!
Never heard this live, it sounds a little different but still a great song studio or live, so underrated.

Happy belated Birthday Phillp Oakey (5th of October)
brilliant!
Damn good for a 34 yo betamax, Human Leagues pretty good, too. He looks a little Colin Ferral here. 👍
Oh yeah.. your right there is a similarity to Colin

Yep, Wright left for good and Callis returned for a while 1990.
It's the Schumann League... how Romantic !
😍❤️❤️❤️

Always loved that bass intro and guitar riff of the Lebanon. Vocals a tad flat though!
Agreed!
This was before auto-tune, but Phil always had somewhat limited range.
Only noticeable for part of the Lebanon though.

where did this come from?i went to the glasgow gig for the tour and it was brilliant!
One of the most politically conscious synth based mainstream dance groups of the time.
Thanks for watching and commenting George

Awful I'm afraid to say
I remember watching this. The vocals were terrible. Has this been touched up ???
Adrián and Jo were no longer there?
