It's funny I was just talking to someone about this last night. I too was born in 64. 46-64 is a huge generation gap and I always felt we were more linked with Generation X than Boomers. We're lumped in with sock-hop crowd for pete's sake. We have little in common with boomers and so much more with Gen X

They were picked on by the so called music critics for using the line ' used to be some shops' but what they were expressing is how simple life was and then the girls come in, quite hard I have to say " is where the snipers sometimes hide" that sends shivers, can you imagine living in that kind of fear. Phil had a friend in Lebanon who would send him art work and communicate to him of the atrocities and that's when he made this song

Haha me too! I remember queuing for a long time, then being inside for a long time. Them doing bits of playback and laughing when the music stopped as they were cut short in their performance, as were we with our 80s dance moves. My mate and I went because a friend begged us to go, yet she didn't turn up. Was fun though!

Phil later admits that they were brow-beaten into using electric guitars and it was a betrayal of everything the Human League stood for.
