- Fall, 1991. A shy Chris and Geoff dropped by the MuchMusic studios to talk Empire with Erica Ehm. Topics addressed:
Being homesick for Seattle
Canadian connections - DalBello, Howard Ungerleider, Jaymz Bee
Playing Operation: Mindcrime on the Empire tour
What is the stage show like?
"Another Rainy Night (Without You)"
With 20/20 hindsight, it's funny to hear Geoff Tate talk about the live Mindcrime set being a one time only event, considering how much he's milked it since then!
As successful as they were, and they were incredibly successful, I would argue they were still underrated and underappreciated. They have the whole package there with a great singer, great guitar, duo, thumping bassist, kick ass drummer. That original lineup from 1981-1998 will forever be Queensryche for me. And at least the music always lives on!
100% agreed with all this though I don't care for Hear In The Now Frontier
The last album with DeGarmo was not classic Queensryche.
One of the greatest rock and roll band, one of the greatest cool song writer guitar player
Chris DeGarmo is missed very much.
I was back stage in '99 and met Queensryche. Really nice guys. I heard Geoff Tate warming up his vocals WOW!!!!! What a voice.😳😀
I thought they were really awesome around that time. Live Evolution is a pretty hot album.
I have at least one more Tate interview on VHS to upload.
@@GrabAStackofRocK it was an awesome show. To bad egos got in the way. It was also my last day of smoking. Got drunk, blew 2 packs, had to sleep on the couch 🤣
Yeah it really is a shame. And I didn't mind that lineup at all. Q2k was a heavy album. Ah well. We have the albums and the memories...or most of them! I was fortunate enough to interview Eddie for the Live Evolution album. mikeladano.com/2017/01/31/interview-eddie-jackson-of-queensryche-oct-30-2001-audio/
greastest rock duo queenstyche was in a league of their own that great of a band
I agree 👍
Have you ever heard of Diamond Dave and Edward Van Halen?
Watching them do the entire Mindcrime album, during the Empire tour, was the best concert I've ever been to. December 30, 1991 Portland, OR
Wow what a way to end the year for you! Yes it is wise that they did the Mindcrime album on that tour, and better still that they recorded the show and released it for us.
Chris Degarmo ...the look, voice , smarts.....ultimate rock guy
So glad the QR guys are doing well. Grew up since 80's. EMPIRE 💥 Speaks true to today standards. Get it!!
Man i miss Chris!
Chris DeGarmo was the driving force behind this band (and their interviews), and when he left - they drifted. '82 to '92 Queensryche were their glory days and they would spend the rest of their time trying to recapture that magic. By the time Promised Land came about they got so abstract many fans of their previous work couldn't follow along - I was among them. Promised Land was dark non-rhythmic droning.
I’d take these fellas over metallic any day . This lineup of Queensrÿche were as perfect a band as you could get . The perfect player for the band at each position. The sound they had was completely their own .
Well fortunately you can choose both, it's not a one or the other situation.
@@GrabAStackofRocK But it could be tho. I'm just saying. It might be exactly that kind of situation, lol.

The queen!
I saw the empire tour, suicidal tendencies opened
Was it a good matchup?
@@GrabAStackofRocK it was it was cool suicidal was touring on their lights camera revolution album, which is their coolest album in my opinion two different kind of bands, but it worked
Very cool, that was a golden age for rock and metal.
Just uploaded. They talk about Suicidal Tendencies in this one a bit. ua-cam.com/video/Xvu0PBnSwCw/v-deo.html
Me too! I met Mike Muir as well. What a nice guy.

I love QR but they were always pretty lame in interviews.
Live is harder than taped, and there are not many interviews where they discuss DalBello, Howard Ungerleider, and Jaymz Bee.
They are grade A musicians first, second, and last.
Not showmen like Gene Simmons and David Lee Roth.
They don't have to be, when the music speaks for itself.
Erica Ehm wasn't a good interviewer, esp when it wasn't pop artists.
I liked. The. E P The warning Rage for order after that they might as well be a Disco metal band. Just couldn't get into it
@@AdrianJeffreys-fj2fv After Rage came Mindcrime. As far from Disco as it gets.
