Must Have TV Accessories & Reasons Why! Apple TV 4k, Sonos Arc, Netgear Orbi WiFi6, Sony WH-1000XM4

  • There are very few reasons I would skimp on a TV, but these accessories would qualify. The Apple TV 4k, Sonos Arc and Sub Gen 3, Netgear Orbi Mesh Wifi6, and Sony WH-1000XM4 bluetooth headphones all make my movie watching experience even better. So much so that I would recommend moving from a top OLED TV like the Sony A90J to a better priced LG C1 in order to include some of these products.

Sonos Arc seems priced way better but the Sony ht-a7000 seems to have way better integration with the Bravia TV line.

I currently use a 3.0 sound system with a trio of homebuilt speakers, the right and left channels built by my dad over 25 years ago, and they still work great. The centre channel I built myself this summer hooked up to an 8 year-old Denon AVR. Works fine for me since my living room is tiny, might buy a pair of bookshelf speakers at a later date for the surround channels since I'm currently using an old HDTV while saving up for an OLED.

Great video. I also have the 83” A90J
I have a full Dolby atmos setup. The newest Apple TV is great. I also have both Sony headphones you mentioned as well as the new over the ear apple headphones. I find myself using all 3 of them pretty regularly. All three are great. But for the price, the Sonys are the much better value. Thanks for the video. I’d love to pic your brain on how you have your A90J setup. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to setting the tv up for the best picture possible.

I originally replaced my Sonos Beam with a Sony Atmos bar/subwoofer combo when I got more details on the Sonos Arc last year (having one HDMI port, needing a new TV because of eARC). At that point I went from heavily using my Apple TV to my Nvidia shield and everything was right in the world. Fast forward to a couple a months ago, I moved into my new home, and I decided to go with a Sonos system in my living room, because I was obviously getting a new TV which supported eARC. Now this is when sh*t started to get weird, so I continued to heavily relay on my Nvidia shield, and I thought everything was passing through perfectly until I decided to sit down and watch a UHD rip on my Plex server and I started to hear a bunch of Atmos audio drop outs, and pauses. I upgraded my cables to 2.1 cables which didn’t resolved the issue. The situation was even stranger on the Apple TV which was almost unusable with Plex. Audio would mostly output as PCM 5.1, or 7.1 on the Sony, or at least PCM 2.0 at minimum . However with the Arc I mostly got no audio at all when watching most of my movies on Plex (if I adjusted the sound setting on the Apple TV from auto to Dolby 5.1 that would resolve the issue, but not allow Atmos from other apps like Disney + or Netflix. I was kind of depressed about it, until I found Infuse Pro which completely resolved my issues, so I migrated back to the Apple TV. The Apple TV has limitations like not allowing Atmos from uncompressed audio source (ea. UHD rips), however those output to the Sonos Arc as PCM 7.1, and sound the same to me. Movie files played from my Plex server using the Infused Pro app on the Apple TV which have a compressed Atmos track output natively as Dolby Atmos on the Arc! Which amazed me, its as if I’m watching something on Disney + or Netflix’s. I know this was a long post, however I hope it helps someone.

I'd love to know, as stated above, the real differences between the Nvidia Shield, and the CRapple tv? I've hated CRapple for a long time now, but mostly because their products aren't better as many think. So if their tv streamer actually is better, I'd like to know it, and maybe even switch. I have a Shield Pro right now, and it works well. However, if there are serious benefits to the ATV, then I'd consider it. Thanks

    • @jermainemurray1633

@@AquaStevae I haven’t heard the term “Crapple” in a long time…lol My 2cents, I never understood the hate for Apple. I think sometimes we Americans uplift foreign companies over American ones which I think is super odd. Anyway to answer you question, they both have pluses/and minuses. I recommend people have both if they can, but if you don’t have any Apple devices (iPhones/iPads), it maybe a waste. Neither product (Shield/Apple TV) will be the perfect streaming device. The way I treat it, is if some file isn’t streaming right or Audio not output right I switch to the other one. On my Samsung Neo Qled/Sonos set up, I almost have to use the Apple TV/Infuse Pro, because UHD Rip’s with uncompressed Atmos tracks have drop outs audio drops (These are 60-100GB files) on the shield, and its no way around it. In my bedroom, I have the older samsung with the Sony Atmos bar that has 3 HDMI inputs. On that setup, I watch UHD Rips on the Shield because it does pass through, and the audio perfectly outputs as Atmos/TrueHD. I hope this helps…

    • @AquaStevae
      @AquaStevae 2 роки тому +1

@@jermainemurray1633 It does help, and thank you for the reply. I would prefer to support an American company over ANY foreign company. My angst against CRapple is due to their products being inferior in so many ways, and fooling people into thinking they getting cutting edge tech, when most of what they employ has been used by Android for years already. Anyway, I appreciate your reply. Thanks.

75" Samsung QN95A and Samsung Q960A soundbar. Samsung's UI and apps are good enough for me, but I use PLEX to stream Blu-ray files or TV shows unavailable on streaming services from a media PC without any quality loss. When decorating the living room, having good sound was always in the back of my head, but without it being super obvious. I am super happy with my setup and can without a doubt recommend it to anyone.

My story is Soundbar Sony HT-ST5000 works as bluetooth transimitter as well so any Bluetooth Headphones work directly without turning the Soundbar off. And you can get this sounbar for 700euros. Yes the ultimate option would be this year’s best soundbar the Sony A7000 about 1300euros with HDMI 2.1 x2. Other accessories is the Apple TV box since I want to connect Ethernet and you can’t have wifi and ethernet simultaneously on your Google TV. Which for me now is the XR-65A90J and I got it for 2798euros with 5year official Sony warranty. Also you can get apps and stuff from Playstation5 and Xbox Series X. I have those too. And for me a Panasonic Blu-Ray player with 1tb storage and a 4K cable twin-tuner is a must have, since I love to record stuff. You can also use the BR-player as a CD-player through the soundbar, phenomenal. Sony’s HT-A9 speaker system is under my radar, some day. Dreams come true when you save money or earn luck in life.

I've got the 65A80J in the bedroom connected to a Sonos Arc with Ikea Symfonisk rears hacked to a high-level input Yamaha sub, saved $700 not using the Sonos sub. I've been using Nvidia-SHIELDs since 17' but have 19' models. I find the Andriod TV platform more versatile. My wife is a strictly Apple user and we tried the new Apple TV 4k gen2 but didn't care for the remote. The touch wheel resulted in accidental selections and when turned off scrubbing doesn't work. We find the Shield remote is far more comfortable in the hand as well. I have the Shields hard wired to a 3 pack of Orbis, my TVs are capped at 100mbps and the Shields have gigabit. When I want to go silent I can throw on my pair of Aiwa Arc-1s of my Galaxy Buds+. Noise cancelation causes that cabin pressure sensation. I'm always on the lookout for the best headphones that don't have noise-canceling or can be turned off.

Great Video, you really don't want a Sonos Arc if you pick an Apple TV though, as Apple only passes through atmos conditionally.
If you use Apple TV only certified apps get ATMOS. If you use something like Plex, all your ATMOS tracks will get turned from ATMOS to PCM.
Even though Apple uses ATMOS MAT the sound experience is not great! Use an Nvidia Shield if you want real ATMOS passthrough.

I wish I have seen this video before buying the Sony A90J, now literally I don't have any cash left to buy these accessories. but I have one question, does the sound-bar is more effective in creating a surround sound system or a system like Sony ht-A9 which has four speakers that you can set it up across different locations to create that immersive experience. I am little confused between buying a sound-bar vs system like that of Sony Ht-A9. Although I'll wait for Black Friday sale or something until then will do the research on the Home Theatre system.

I slowly buy my accessories over time to ease the pain. Last year it was a receiver and center channel upgrade. This year was the LR and sub. Next year it’s time to upgrade the tv.

Nice. Yeah I need an AVR and speakers.. I love the Sonos Arc and now ht-a9 I have been fortunate to review but I really want to get massive 3.1 or better that crushes those to get max experience.

@@BTheInstaller when I started the only options were the Bose system (out of budget at the time), Cheap HTIB systems , or dedicated hifi or HT setups. If I started today I would have started with and AppleTV and two HomePods or some of the options you mentioned. In this case ignorance is bliss. However since I’m already invested in and 5.1 layout I’m staying the course.
When I upgraded the fronts, I move the old fronts to surrounds and the old surrounds to heights for atmos. Just picked up the Hisense U8G so I should be set for about 5 years or so.

I have a Sonia arc and Samsung QLED Q80T. Just bought an Apple TV 4K and I can’t get the arc to play any sound at all unless I use Airplay which doesn’t support DOLBY ATMOS. The arc is plugged into the eArc port and Apple TV is in the regular HDMI. It won’t work and I don’t get it. Any help?

All the rest was almost as important as the TV......so my 'sacrifice' was to go 65" for the LG C1 instead of the 77". Upgraded my AVR (Marantz SR5015), CD Player (Rotel CD Tribute 11), Bluray Player (Panasonic DB-UB820), Preamp (Pro-Ject Phono Box)......and finally got an Xbox Series X. All money well spent.

The Sony XM-4s are hard to beat for the price. I haven't listened to Apple AirPods Max but I don't think there's $300 more value in the sound quality.
Thanks for the video; insightful content. I am not a big OLED guy, however, I get it. Last year I bought the Samsung QN85A for a great deal at Costco, but I would love to hear more thoughts about the Samsung OLEDs.

Kudos to you, for the CRapple tv being your ONLY CRapple device, as that in my opinion gives you huge credibility over many others. The other CRapple devices just suck. BUT, that being said, I've also heard several complaints about the CRapple tv as well, so I'd like to ask you to show us how it's better than a Nvidia Shield. Please make a video about this, or be specific in your response, as I'd like to truly know if it is better. If so, then I'll switch. But I need some concrete evidence, as I've hated CRapple products since I owned an iphone years and years ago. Thanks for all you do with your channel. Good vid. UPDATE: Then later in the video you lost me when you said Siri works better than any other voice app. That's absolutely NOT TRUE!!!! Siri is the worst working voice assistant, with the most problems. Even Amazon's echo works better. But Google Assistant has been proven better thousands of times by thousands of direct tests. It provides much better and more accurate answers, and works with tens of thousands of more apps. There just isn't any real comparison with Siri. Siri is HORRIBLE.

I've got the Sonos Arc / sub / 2 rear Sonos 1s hooked up to The Sony A8H. I'm considering getting an Apple TV 4K. Do I keep the Sonos Arc plugged into the Sony's E-Arc and plug the Apple TV into one of the Sony's other HDMI ports? Will that get me Dolby ATMOS out of the Sonos? I've been searching on You Tube and can find nothing on how to optimize the Apple TV 4K to best work with Sonos. Thanks in advance if you can shed some light on this -- or even please God, do a video showing how to set up Apple TV with Sonos.

Sonos ARC isn’t the best option these days especially for the price… the Q950A is much better for almost the same price as just the ARC+sub. And for that you get HDMI-in ports, DTS:X support, rear speakers, full X.X.4 full Atmos speakers and much more channels for a better bubble experience.

-I've got a 15-year-old Panasonic - not changing any time soon
    - Apple TV 4K - gold standard IMHO - great remote
-Milwaukee M12 Speaker - works for me cuz I've got it for my outdoor use & works fine for TV use
    - I will wait for the XM5s to come out for the headset
Its not that I can't spend $5k to upgrade - I just don't care that much. Having said that the Apple TV will always be my streaming device of choice. I have had A Tv since version #1. I tried another one in conjunction to the Apple - doesn't come close.

Hi B ! yet another super video. Quick question. I just got Apple TV 4K to go with my Sony a8h panel and Sonos arc. Getting excellent video and Dolby atmos without any issues, however as far as Dolby digital, I’m getting “Dolby multichannel PCM 5.1 instead? Sonos arc is connected through eARC directly and Apple TV via one of the HDMI ports back tv. Any thoughts and suggestions. The multichannel PCM 5.1 sounds a bit lower volume. If I used the app of the tv , I get regular Dolby digital 5.1, so it has to be apple tv 4k related. apple tv 4k set up as , with atmos on settings. Tv settings digital plus ....

Ok dumb question here. Does Apple TV 4K actually do upscaling of content? Wouldn't a new A80J do a way better job at that? Are there settings workarounds? I know I'm getting the tv but confused about ATV (I've had one long ago and enjoyed the experience but it was with an older plasma so didn't worry). Maybe I'm just not getting it.

Great video thanks B. Question: If I have a non-eArc TV and buy an Apple TV 4K and plug it into TV, will it be able to send Dolby ATMOS signal to Sonos Arc, or any AV receiver. Unfortunately I can't plus Apple TV into a Sonos Arc as it does not have video pass through, unless I buy an HD Fury. My option is NOT to buy Sonos Arc but to buy a new AV 7.1 receiver that has passthrough and use my existing 5.1 speakers and add ceiling speakers - correct? Grateful for any tips. Jamie from Brisbane.

I honestly think Google chrome cast with Google TV is much better value than the Apple TV 4K. Google voice beats Siri hands down, the remote is better, and it’s just a fraction of the cost.
