Finely a man who explained how to measure the bracket on the TV, and add it to your wall number, in a way a numpty like me can understand lol..Feeling pretty confident now i can manage it, doing it for a friend on Boxing day...Many Thanks mate
Not sure if it’s been mentioned here before, but stud finders are used twice per stud. It signals at the edge, not at the center. That’s why you had to go a little to the left. You always run it to one direction and mark where it beeps, then you run if from the other side towards the mark you made and it will beep again at the other edge, giving you both edges of the stud. And then then you’ll get your center of the stud (between both marks)
B - thanks to you, I have now I installed three wall mount tv’s in my house and not one cord is visible. Probably saved at least a $1,000 doing it myself and I actually had a lot of fun doing it. Your explanations are spot-on. Sure appreciate you putting up these videos.
SOLID that you mention to hand tighten everything so you don't strip things. The small drill left / right is very clever to 'really' find the center of the stud. You might suggest what the common heights of dressers are so that if you have family photos or a 't*ts' old school tube channel audio system that's going to sit on top of it, the dimensions are 36 " to the top of your dresser in your bedroom so 46 " to the bottom edge of your TV from the floor works usually Holmes. Great channel .
7:43 to not break the bolt you need to set max torque to 2-3 and it won't break anything. But first 2-3 rotation you'd better do manually anyway. 14:08 I use stanley stud finder. The good thing is that it has lines which show light when you aproach stud. I come from the left, then I come from the right. I get to points usually they located in 1.5cm. In that case I know exactly that the stud is in the middle. I also do a 2 more tests above and below just in case to make sure that I have not found a wire. This way I put my 40'' TV on a single stud with no issues. But now I have a 75 inch TV which is a bit more problematic
You are the man B the installer now you are reviewing manly products. It will take some time before we can become a TV installer like you bro. You've been doing installs for a lengthy amount of time and that's why you are a PRO.
If the studs are off a little to far, you could take a nice piece of 1x material about 24 "s long and screw that firmly into the studs. the TV mount could be positioned in the center of the wall and screwed to that.
When picking my TV's height off the floor I realized that the recommended "eye level" suggestions from the internet made the view from the kitchen of the bottom of the screen blocked by the "eye level" heads of people sitting on the couch. I stuck an above average height person on the couch, went into the kitchen and sighted just above thier head to the wall where the TV was going to mount, and that's how I picked the bottom of my screen. Moral of the story is to consider all possible viewing locations before installing blocking and/or drilling holes.

This is Michael. Thank you for such an informative and instructional video. A lot of people make videos and Skip steps taking things for granted, but your videos are perfect. Thanks
That mount says for TV’s up to 55”. Why does it work on that larger TV you installed? Or is is because you are under the 99 lb weight capacity of the mount? Great video, thanks.
Huge fan, ❤ love your videos. I really could use your help as the pro you are. I have been advised against wall mounting our 50” tv in our condo because of “metal studs”. I have been told you can never be sure you have actually penetrated the metal studs or just bent them. This is an old tv, 50” plasma so it’s very heavy and rather thick, compared to newer tv’s. It is probably over 100 lbs. So I am reluctant to try this. We did have it wall mounted in our old house since getting it new in 2007. But in this condo, this is a very small bedroom so having the tv on the wall is the only option. Have you ever run into this problem ? Any body else have any advice ?
Excellent video with some helpful hints. Like the bracket you used. Watch your videos all the time. Now...all I need to do is decide between 77" LG or Sony which I'm been trying to do for over a month. All I've own are LG oleds so that's part of the problem.
You know they do make impact drivers with variable speeds and variable speed triggers. I actually have a Makita that automatically slows down when the bolt bottoms out. You can also use the clutch on a drill to keep from over tightening. I always drive the lag bolts and machined screws in being careful not get them real tight then finish them off with my ratchet or my screwdriver. Personally, I like to use a finish nail to find the edge of the studs also. Never mind I see you tightened them the same way. Very thorough video!
Thank you so much excellent. One more thing I would have found helpful is that Samsung uses m8 28-30 I had to go buy these as the mountain dream though an excellent mount does not supply them in their pack.
I've seen a couple of your videos and it's always a nice clean job. You also seem like a nice guy. Just one thing I would say is you'll never sheer the head off something so thick so I wouldn't worry about that in your future installations. Keep up the good work buddy.
Most important thing said: 19:45 "I have liability insurance". Sure wish I could find someone local to hang my TV in a timely manner. I'd easily pay them a few $100 and let them take the responsibility of dropping the TV or pinching/cracking the OLED panel. But they're not available. I'm nervous as hell.
not the only one, I got quoted £500 (around $700) which was just insane for just lifting it off my desk and mounting it on the wall directly behind. Want to do it myself, but the screen is so thin.
Great detailed video. I do what you do and I prefer the Sanus mounts because they are wider than 16 inches and gives more side to side leeway and allows you to install on 24 inch spaced studs. Rare but I have run into it. Also, I find Sanus to be easier to install. Live your vids
Very basic steps so will use these on my new TV . Next is to decided on mount brand to use. Hey nice to see you complete the ad, guess it took you several takes to make that one.
Yeah you're right anyone can install their own tv it's just one(or two, because technically there's two) simple step. You put both feet on bottom of tv and screw them in if necessary, and just like that you're done. Easy peasy nice and easy. 😉
Before drilling the holes for the wall mount, how to determine if the studs are wood or aluminum? If the studs are aluminum, should you wall mount the TV?
If wood comes out, it's wood. If the drill doesn't go anywhere or makes a banging noise, it could be metal. Normally about 20% of the time. You can use toggle bolts through metal studs and they work quite well. You need to understand how to use them properly and the weight of tv
@@BTheInstaller The only thing I don't like about the toggle bolts is that the heavier rated toggle butterfly end are so huge, you have to drill a bigger hole just to get it through and the metal studs are not that wide.
Great video man! I just got a 77” A80J and I’m thinking about mounting it in the future. The only wall it would fit on in my living room has metal studs since I live in a condo. Any advice for that? Is it even possible/safe with a TV that size? I’ve seen other videos using toggle bolts and/or plywood to distribute the weight but I’m still uncertain. Thanks!
Yes you can mount on 2 metal studs with the 3/16 or 1/4" toggles through the stud. It takes an understanding. I made a video, look for "dual A9G oled install" in an office. It was from early 2021
Are you me? I think you might be me. I'm in the exact same position. The contractor the store uses for TV installs refused to mount my TV because I have metal studs and want it to be angled out a bit.
@@BTheInstaller hey dude try out what I told you man it's pretty cool. With external sources if you go down to the video signal. Where the color space settings are at. Right above that setting is the hdmi signal output change it from limited to full. The image will be slightly richer and have a bit more perceived contrast imo. I'm sure you will enjoy that lol. On the a90j of course I'm talking about.
Great video! Thanks! One question, though, how can I tell the max weight of a TV that the studs will be able to hold? Can drywall hold a 75in TV? Thank you!
I couldn't get centered for the living room where i needed to mount wall brackets to center TV. I used flip Toggler anchors on drywall. They are rated at 137lb per toggler. I used four togglers for a full motion mout for a 77-inch OLED. Do you think I'll be okay?
Before mounting, I thought ahead and did NOT remove the factory stand until it was mounted to the wall. Absolutely no need to do this with this wall mount until I had the TV where I wanted it. This mount swings out plenty to remove the factory stand afterwards. I mounted my 65" much the same and used the same brand. I used tape on the wall once I found the center and the studs so as not to mark up the wall. I also used this same method of centering the 2x4. I have 2 stud finders. One has lights that tell me when the 2x4 is there (not super accurate but works) and a magnet stud finder. I use a small nail on a vice grip to center the line for the stud once I find it. The only thing I don't like is the typical 42" TV center (from the floor) that seems to be standard. This just isn't high enough for me. I put mine at 48" from the floor and it still wasn't high enough. The rear TV bracket only allows for about 4" of adjustment up and down. When I first mounted it to the recommended center from the floor (but 48" not 42"), it was almost identical height as when it was on the TV stand. I then removed it and raised the rear mount 4" higher. STILL not high enough. For me, a 60" center is where my 65" belongs. I can now lower it 4" for the perfect height of 56" from the floor. With the 5-degree tip feature, this is perfection.
I'm trying to hang a 75inch and because of my stud spacing its not mounting centered. Can I make a 2X4 bracket for the top and bottom and then attach the mount?
I notice the tape lights on the back of the TV, did that come from the manufacturer or was that an after market add on? If that was an add on, would there be any way of doing a How To video on something of that nature? Thx
I’m debating between buying a 65” and a 77” OLED. Still debating whether to mount on the wall or on a stand. Seating positions in the room vary from about 110” to 140”. Closest seating is about 88”. Would love any opinion or thoughts on which size to get. Based on the formulas I can online find I’m sort of on the line between the two.
Most would recommend the 77. If the wall and the space can hold it. Prices are quite low for those. I paid 4k for 65" a90j so it's all relative. I wish I had the 77 a80j in bedroom now. Could also save $1k
@@BTheInstaller Thanks. I'm probably going with the a80j based on your review - I'm more of a tv and sports watcher than a gamer. The wall can definitely hold it and there is plenty of space. It just kinda "feels" big, but that's probably because I'm comparing it to my current 60" plasma. I guess nobody ever said, "gee, I wish I got the smaller TV."
That is our plan. We are going to ride our soon to be delivered 75 inch Hisense U8K until it gives out. Which means we will def be getting a new one within 5 years lol@@michael-4k4000
HI B! I just purchase a 65 gx oled and cannot get the stand so my only chance is to install it on the wall, but I would like to have a stand DIY or adapt some other.. Insights??
how to pick a Samsung 65 in Wall Mount? I'm moving to a much smaller apt from where I live now so I want to mount my tv because I''ll need every space every space I can get. So what you suggest? Also I'm moving into APT that has metal and concrete bldg. What's your best suggestion for mounts, I dont want something that extends from wall too far. But I also don't want to have any trouble with bright lights and viewing angles either. In addition my mom after dying from Covid I took her old 43 in lg while I was waiting to replace my old lg 50 inch that I loved but fuse went after 10 yrs of ownership. So what do you suggest there too? thx.
I'm seeing some nasty glare on my 10 year old 50" LG Plasma TV and will wall mount and tilt down to help w/ that. Thank you! P.S. I would LOVE to replace it w/ a new 65" TV now, but the cheapest one I would consider costs about a grand now.
Sir B... You have the best reviews in all, thank you. I just pick up my XR77AJ80 from BF, after your reviews and now planning to mount it on wall. My TV cabinet is 25 inch height, I want a 8-10 inch distance from the cabinet to the bottom of the TV. That means the center of the TV to the ground is 54~ inch. With my sofa is 10~12 ft away from screen, should I be concerned with the optimum viewing angle? As I was told the best height to be 42 inch to center of screen when sitting for best eye leveling. Any comments, thanks!
This advice may be a little late but Big John having the center of the TV to the ground at 54-inches sounds way too high. I have the dead center of my 50-inch TV at 41 inches above the ground because when I sit on my leather couch my eyeballs are about 40 inches above the ground. I sit 11-feet away from the TV. And when searching online it's recommended I get a 70-inch to 90-inch TV if it's going to be 4k. Time for me to look for a bigger TV. Hope this helps.
Possibly. I am pretty comfortable recommending either after last year the H9G and 535 were both solid and both rtings and fellow youtubers really liked these two over those.
This video is amazing. My only concern after watching is overtightening because I have two layers of drywall equalling an inch and I want to be sure the bolt is in enough of the wood stud.
Hi B, You dont seem to tighten the screws holding the bracket into the wall very tight? Is there a reason for this? Installed a heavy 60kg 85’’ TV into breezeblock (through a small gap in plaster board) and I am a little concerned I didnt tighten the bolts enough. I was concerned by the potential of threading the bolts so snugged them up with a rachet but did not apply any torque/force. Your input would be hugely appreciated
Hey B great intel! Do you think is ok to use 4 of these new cavity fixings for heavy itemd (GeeFix) as my drywall is like 10in depth) and studs were likely put at back so also bolts won't be long enough thanks x advice
Great video. Looking at a 70” q60. Any recommendations for a full or partial motion mount with the mounting stud located dead center? And 16” on center. Thanks
@@BTheInstaller yes, the bolt head is bigger than the mount. But I pulled the bolts out and put the washers on and screwed them back in. It felt clean and secure so I’m feeling ok. Dude your video was awesome. I bought the mount and powerbridge just like you showed and followed your video step-by-step! It’s looking very clean!!!! You’re a great teacher
I was installing a 3-stud mount for my TV today and hit a drywall screw on the second hole. Any suggestions as to best practices? I moved the hole about 1/4" to the left; I figured if one of the 6 lag bolts wasn't perfectly centered in the stud it was NBD. The mount is rated for 175 lbs. but the TV is only 96 lbs.
@@BTheInstaller Glad to hear you think it's overkill. Will have some strong help here tomorrow to actually put the TV on the mount and a little nervous about it. I'd rather hire a pro to do it but around here they're all booked up for the next several weeks.
@@BTheInstaller I got my 83" A90J mounted on the wall today, with help from my adult kids. Went pretty smoothly, thanks in large part to your videos. Thanks so much. Glad it's over and I don't have to worry about it anymore.
Recently installed the SU-WL855 along with the 65A80J. I had to move my outlet didn't lineup right where the old wall mount was. Ran just two HDMI cables in the wall for and Nvidia-SHIELD and Sonos Arc. Able to hit two studs with the adjustments of the wall plate. Also hung a the 65 Frame. Had to make extra holes too low initially, bummer. No studs just wall anchors. Thinking about painting a short strip of making tape and laying it over the One Connect cable just to see how it looks.
I’m just confused about the wall, how can I know what kind of wall do I have? I can see that wall had “wood separation” between the panels but i think my wall has the metallic parts, not sure, how can I know?
Seems I cannot find answer about the screw lengths anywhere…I’m hanging a Samsung 75” with fixed wall mount and they supplied the #8 screws but in two different lengths to hold onto the vertical bar into rear tv. The short ones just don’t seem right to hold up the weight and the longer ones seem too long to screw into rear of tv. Anyone have experience with Samsung mountings…thanks very much for any response 👍

Thx
Your link to the Motion Dream 2198 goes to the 2296, is this the recommended unit you suggest?
Just picked up a MD mount for my PC monitor.
Great video!
Need this step by step for the LG G2 specifically. The gallery tv mount is annoying.
Hello - Do you perform home installations (TV wall mounting) near Temecula, CA?
I don't do many installs at all now. I try to get to more local jobs to SD. There are others out there.
So what do you suggest there too? thx.
I went with the Sanus VLF728-B2 in black. It is pretty much top of the line but I am sure that there are lots of good cheaper mounts out there.
Do you know what led lighting strip you used on the back of that tv? It looks so clean.
In the description. Bias lighting --> cheap set
Mr. B where can I find the "light tape" using a USB socket attached behind the screen?
I think it's in my description. Cheap LED lights for behind your TV. The patington ones are good for 12 bucks.
Wait, so you do not need to use tv washers when screwing in those bolts?
I’m in the same situation. It should be fine but still concerned it will be too high.
@@markvanyo4302 yes, I eventually managed to do 44inch center to ground. So far so good. Thank you anyway 👍
Great Video B, what Torque settings was on you drill?
I have it set on top speed and torque. I can always let go of trigger.
@@BTheInstaller thank's and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Likewise. 🦃🙏
Amazing Video Brandon! I Just did my QN90A 65" install , I have bruises on my hands now lol 😆
Ha, yeah.. that will happen after some install work. 💪
I see your list of tv mounts but which one would you recommend the most for a Samsung QN90a 85" size?
You can get that larger Echogear one or the larger mounting Dream one. If you need turning ability. Or either Costco Mount would also be fine.
What is my mount doesn’t have a stud on the left but the right side has a stud
Where you get your adapter to your impact to use on the lagblots ? What’s called ?
Hexagonal to 3/8 drive
@@BTheInstaller you still reccomend the dream mount Seem last recent video you didn’t mention it. Thjnknws the mount started with p. Thank k you
And do you have a link for the hex drive ?
Nice video! I will use it when Im gona hang TV. Any tips for packing the TV for moving? I have the original box. Help appreciated ;)
If you have the box, you're set. Just reverse unbox it. And then use packing tape. They also sell boxes for tvs as home depot woth padding.
Will you be reviewing the Hisense u8G or TCL r646?
Just use 4 inch bolts. Plenty in wall.
@@BTheInstaller thanks buddy. Then with the ratchet just turn until it's firm as shown in the video?
Yeah, once the mount starts sucking into the wall... stop... 😆 4 bolts, it's not going anywhere.
Hi B,
You dont seem to tighten the screws holding the bracket into the wall very tight? Is there a reason for this?
Installed a heavy 60kg 85’’ TV into breezeblock (through a small gap in plaster board) and I am a little concerned I didnt tighten the bolts enough. I was concerned by the potential of threading the bolts so snugged them up with a rachet but did not apply any torque/force.
Your input would be hugely appreciated
I hand tighten until it just starts to bend drywall/mount. They are in studs not the drywall. The studs hold the bolts still
@@BTheInstaller thanks man. Great videos by the way. Subbed 👌🏽
Hello Sir.
Can you do video mounting the new Samsung that rotates on the wall? How to properly mount it? Thanks
What's your take on X mounts so you don't have the back brackets on rhe TV are hidden. I was looking at the Barkan mount for my new LG C1. thoughts?
The mount I used is stronger has more adjustability.
Great video. Definitely subscribe
Quick question. I have tv cabinet made from mahogany and i wanted to drill that for the mount. Will it be good enough to hold a 55 inch lg oled?
Not sure I follow.
Thanks
I made a video on that. Best tv mounts.
B, I forgot to use the washers on the two top lag bolts for the wall mount. Am I screwed?
Is the bolt head bigger than the hole in the mount? If so, it should be fine. Washers are best to have on to prevent that.
Good stuff. Glad it helped.
Great job
B where the heck did you put your PS5 stand . Use it for better airflow
Bought the 86" LG NanoCell, what mount would you suggest?
Bigger mount. I made a video on best tv mounts on Amazon and Costco
@@BTheInstaller I saw that video a few days ago. The mount with the extension bracket?
I was installing a 3-stud mount for my TV today and hit a drywall screw on the second hole. Any suggestions as to best practices? I moved the hole about 1/4" to the left; I figured if one of the 6 lag bolts wasn't perfectly centered in the stud it was NBD. The mount is rated for 175 lbs. but the TV is only 96 lbs.
Just remove the drywall screw and same spot. I've just moved to the aide many times. Not being there, it sounds like it's still overkill.
Good job. I will be making a frame install video to show that wire isn't a big deal externally
B great vid thank you
I’m just confused about the wall, how can I know what kind of wall do I have? I can see that wall had “wood separation” between the panels but i think my wall has the metallic parts, not sure, how can I know?
You need a good stud finder.
What do you think about Costco‘s amount Kanto 40" - 90" Full-Motion TV Mount
Item 657260 Model FMX3
What kind of tv is that
Thanks for the video
Thanks for checking it out.
Thanks man
Can you help me the find me a wall mount for 55 inch Panasonic plasma ST 60? I’m struggling.
I made a video for that. Back last spring.
I love it 😍
M6 what though they come in different mm
Seems I cannot find answer about the screw lengths anywhere…I’m hanging a Samsung 75” with fixed wall mount and they supplied the #8 screws but in two different lengths to hold onto the vertical bar into rear tv. The short ones just don’t seem right to hold up the weight and the longer ones seem too long to screw into rear of tv. Anyone have experience with Samsung mountings…thanks very much for any response 👍
