@@TwoGuyzTech Your videos have been immensely helpful since I decided to buy a NAS! Found your channel when I was on the fence on the UGREEN NAS; ended up going with Synology instead.
Just FYI to anyone else going through this process for the first time like me: Unfortunately dynamic HDR metadata (Dolby Vision, HDR10+) won't work the way it should if you handbrake a file using hardware encoding. So for 4k UHD/HDR blurays, you have to use regular x265 10bit (or one of the other compatible codecs like AV1) which will take a significantly longer time. If you have a regular bluray or DVD with no HDR, then that's not a concern.
@@Yadav-Creation Yes it can. You can do a clone/image of the disc and get a 1:1 copy including menus and all. You need something to play that file back though. I ended up doing a clone of my discs and using an Oppo UHD player to access the movie. This is not ideal for storage reasons but I also got tired of trying to manage subtitles for movies in English with a foreign language at specific parts that are shown as needed. I would either not get the subtitles at the appropriate time or I would hav e subtitles all the time, again not ideal.

This is a great one. I just ripped my entire library over the last 6 weeks using your older videos as guides. Started with an ASUS BD-R drive, but returned that one and switched to the LG. The ASUS was scratching my discs. Anyway, I used MKVToolNix to multiplex the mkv files when removing subtitle tracks I didn't want (after MakeMKV did its thing), relabeled things and even did the split after chapter and appending for episodes of Lost that are recognized by Plex and Zidoo as separate or combined episodes. But, I don't know why, it totally slipped my mind that I could do this merging of MKV files for LOTR Extended Editions or The Hobbit 3D Extended Editions. I'm combining them now and then gonna throw them back up on the Synology NAS! Thanks for your videos!
Found this channel a couple of weeks ago. This has been great. I've since started ripping and using my own plex server and it is awesome. Planning to get a UGreen NAS and make it bigger.
Your channel has been so helpful. I’m still debating on buying a NAS or building one. Waiting on a sale for something that will work for me. But I appreciate this detailed breakdown on the ripping process.
Good guide for an oldhead like me that last ripped, burned and cloned movies when they were on DVD. CloneCD, Nero, DaemonTools, etc. Before this I wouldn't know where to start. Thanks.
*Do not* use nvenc or other gpu encoding. It is designed for livestreaming (ie. speed) and not high quality encoding. Downsizing and compressing 4k movies to 1080p works really well with h.265 (passthrough metadata in handbrake should always be turned on for hdr ) and if you have your original discs, you can always convert them again when the next big compression standard comes out. There are lots of topics to discuss... ie, if you convert to h.265 for Plex server, and your TV does not have h.265 decode ability, your server will need to do a re-encode to a format the device supports. Handbrake could probably have a series of videos to review all of the options and how to use them correctly.
Thanks for watching! Indeed it is a very complicated topic. I've had good luck with NVENC (Gen 7 on Ampere) at a glance the output is pretty decent, but I haven't viewed it on an HDR display, and it's by no means the most optimal solution. We hope to take a really deep dive into this (and real time transcoding for streaming) quite soon!
@@TwoGuyzTech in my experience it is very blocky. The focus of nvenc is quick encoding and quick decoding. Unfortunately to get a quality encode in the smallest file is a slow process. You should keep up on this series... the information available is all over the place and giving new comers a series of videos to get started is great... keep it up!
@@charlesdoesmore5488 I usually use h.265 10 bit, constant framerate, encoder preset slower, constant quality 22. It will make your cpu run full blast, and will take a long time. If you don't care about file size, then just use the instructions to create mkv files straight from the disc.
brother, after flashing LG drive, can we play all region 4K ultra HD bluray disc? it is support dolby vision or HDR 10 ? can we connect and play on zidoo z9x pro? Thanx if you can explain 😎
Dolby vision is retained by MakeMKV, but you can only stream it with a device capable of streaming DV Profile 7. Normal streaming apps use DV Profile 5. The NVIDIA Shield is one of these, as well as many TVs these days. Xbox S|X and PS5 cannot stream this profile of DV. If you process the video through handbrake, however, DV is lost completely and only HDR10 is retained.
The mist difficult thing I found at least a few years ago was encoding/compression of 4K HDR to maintain support for the most amount of playback devices and not losing certain HDR features. For instance maintaining playback of dolby vision, HDR10+, and HDR10 with proper failover for what the playback device supports. Requires special consideration to the HDR profiles and settings used for H265 encoding. Idk of they've sort of streamlined it now.
Hello, I just had to return that lg optical drive today, because it stopped working after a couple weeks. This seems to be a very common issue. Is there a more reliable option that is reasonably priced?
I’ve been ripping with a Pioneer BDR-UD04 and MakeMKV for ~2 years now. It’s an excellent drive for this and it can also burn DVDs, Blu-Rays, UHD Blu-Rays and M-Discs (for archival purposes).
I've just bought an optical drive that has been flashed to enable UHD ripping. Now I've read that streaming from my NAS (DS423+) to my TV (Sony A80L) via the built in Plex app will be capped at 100mbps because TV's do not come equipped with a 1gbe port. I've also read that Plex may or may not transcode my 4K rips, it depends on whether my TV can read and play the file codecs. Then, I read that the best way to stream 4K content is with a dedicated streaming device such as Apple TV 4K or Nvidia Shield Pro. However, the Nvidia Shield Pro is no longer receiving updates and is now 5 years old, but on the contrary an Apple TV 4K does not support Dolby Atmos content from a 4K Blu-Ray remux. So my question is, How do I stream my 4K blu-ray remux to my TV whilst retaining Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos? P.S. I'd also like to integrate Philips Hue one day.
I followed the steps from your original steps. I ran into an issue where you needed the 4K keys to be able to unlock them. That is something that is not covered in this video.
about chapters in a single mkv for tv shows. dunno about blurays, but dvds often have such large file with all the episodes on a disc crammed into one with chapters. problem is, sometimes theres a chapter for intro, few chapters per episode, then outro is also a chapter and so on. meaning, sometimes you cant split that large file per chapters since youll end up with gajillion files and its timeconsuming to glue all those together to get mkvs per episode. as i said, dunno about blurays but i do run into such cases with dvds of tv shows. thats why i always deselect that file since there are files for individual episodes also available as well, always.
Thanks for watching! Splitting by specific chapters as I showed in the video with MKVToolNix would help in this case. Having a single track split by chapters (without other tracks available) is mostly applicable to Blu-ray releases of TV series from other countries, but that's just the account of others who have ran into this same issue that I've helped in the past.
They cover this in the vid. Instead of selecting to split by chapters, there's a "before chapters" option that lets you give a comma separated list of what chapter each episode starts on. Usually it's a regular cadence like 6,11,16,21,26, etc so after you've seen a couple you can just extrapolate out and spot check the last few. There are a few discs that have both episodes by title and a glommed-together one at the end, but usually it's one or the other
@@kameoosama lol, saw it after i posted haha. anyways, yes. method described in the video should and does work. but… if its a cartoon, and one giant file with chapters has like 20 episodes crammed into it, and each episode is like 4 chapters, remembering all those numbers to enter into mkvtoolnix can be a pita, lol. that being said, i gots a i am weasel dvd thats just that and i will have to use this method, no matter how boring and twdious it will get. cheers.
Oh yeah, there are a couple anime in 'SD-BD' format I have. Standard Definition video on a Blu-ray, so you have 50+ episodes crammed on just one or two discs. And the company that put those out likes to do all their discs as one sequential title so yeah once I looked at the first couple I just did the sequential counting I mentioned out to like chapter 100-something and checked the chapter numbers I had projected for the last couple in VLC to make sure there wasn't like, an extra chapter somewhere causing drift before I split it out. Saved a ton of time versus checking every single episode. I keep that chapter list sitting in my notepad++ buffer since it tends to work for everything else they do too, although I generally only need like the first third
I appreciate this video and it helped me get up and running. Only critique is I wouldn't have included that setting tip to prioritize the English language for audio tracks. This doesn't work for subtitled movies. I had one come in with no audio at all and a couple others with the English commentary track only. Plus, it doesn't seem to hurt anything to include other language subtitles and audio tracks.
thanks for the guide! i think the "all you need firmware pack" is a little different now, but same idea. i found and flashed the nh16ns60 1.02 bin file and i have been ripping away :) (using the nh14ns40 for others confused by that)
So @TwoGuyzTech I have my ASUS optical drive all set up and ready to rip using MakeMKV. So before I start, should I rip EITHER to .iso format OR select full disc back ups which I believe are BDMV format?
Which software could you recommend to playback those 4k UHD iso files (1:1copies from disc, not shrinked files by mkvtoolnix) in Windows 10 or 11? It's been years since Power DVD doesn't support this feature any more and VLC player is crap when it comes to picture quality when using a dedicated player like the OPPO series.
Hi Logan, following up to my prior message and I have another. Since reviewing this video, I have started to purchase parts for my new Plex/Jellyfin server build while I use my Synology to store the MKVs I am making from my disc collection (space is filling up quick). I came across other videos that say MakeMKV does not properly save subtitles, even if they are forced due to foreign language. Have you run into any issues with subtitles when making your MKVs? What do you do or what is your preferred / perfect setting setup. Thanks again and Happy New Year.
thank you for this guide im not going to use it to make backups of my blu rays/4kmovies but instead play them useing vlc and maybe backing up my blu rays when i get more storage thank you so much for this guide its a life saver
Question, I was going to get the LG WH16NS40 but I went with the LGBU40N. Should I rethink this? Does the WH16NS40 burn BD-R or M-Disc faster? Will I even notice the difference?
Great video. You literally explained my ?s I am wondering though, if I'm only going to rip Blu-ray no 4ks yet. With the player you use the m disk lg player do I need to flash the stuff if no riping to 4k ?
Do you ever create an .iso image for backups of these Blu-Rays? The popular movies I'll keep the Blu-ray. For others I'll turn around and sell them to cover my costs. With an .ISO I could always burn a new copy of the complete disk.
The most difficult part for me is managing subtitles when they are not hardcoded into the video. Some movies have foreign languages that are spoken and subtitles appear only during those points and trying to pick out the right subtitles and getting it to load properly without having subtitles on for the entire movie is a chore. This is why I started just cloning the whole disc and using an Oppo UHD player to access them and play back. Obviously this takes much more storage space as a downside, but I got tired of trying to make the appropriate forced subtitle tracks function as intended.,
Will ripping keep Dolby Vision or only rip in HDR10? I want to go the NAS route and use an Apple TV to play my rips. Is this possible and keep Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos lossless?
I would like to know how to put a cover picture on the mkv 4k rip file as i tried it with mkvtoolnix gui its very easy to do as a followed a youtube guide and made sure my picture is png or jpeg and renamed it to cover and is under 800 resolution and went into attachment. But it just made another copy of the film when i click on the multiplexing button and still has the vlc player original orange cone. Is there a special codex to use for vlc player to recognise the new cover picture or does this only work if i use K-Lite Codec Pack and player and don't use vlc player.
Dropping an uncompressed mkv in Plex will cause your Plex server to transcode the file every time you play it. Although it's nice to transcode only from an uncompressed source like that, I prefer to pre-encode my videos to something that won't get transcoded as much. I think Plex only supports direct play for 4k videos in mp4 format only. Also, Handbrake is only the beginning...once you start learning avisynth, that's a whole new rabbit hole on how to encode your videos. ;)
With the Terramaster 4Bay NAS if you have setup 2 drives with the default Terramaster RAiD can you later add more drives without deleting your data on the first 2 drives?
Thank you so much😊, this will be really useful one day ,Blu-rays do get damage occasionally and it will be ashamed if you lose that movie, one really good question, I heard a rumour a good UA-camr who talks about 4K Blu-rays, he says the latest CPUs like intel 14 gen 13 gen are blocking 4K you can't even play on on the disc is it true is there a way to solve this problem. Thank you so much keep up the good work you're doing😊

Is there a list of pre-flashed drives and where to get them? The flashing looks rather technical and error prone, I would like to find a decent drive that doesn't need flashing.
Newbie here, it’s awesome to know I can rip into 4K, but in the case of my daughter who doesn’t have a 4K tv, is there extra steps one needs to do to make 1080p or will the 4K just work for her too? The plan while building my own home-flix is to build one for her too, so it’s important to me to make sure I can do both at same time.

I got a NAS box from Terramaster and put 4 10TB drives in it. I use this to host the files and Plex on a PC to handle the categorizing and hosting of the playback with one exception. My 4k movies I put on there in a cloned format and play them back with all the menus to retain all the Dolby Vision and HDR10+ metadata as well as eliminate the need to figure out which subtitles have the forced foreign language parts and make it work properly.
Hey TwoGuyzTech. Can you clarify something for me? I thought that in order to play/use the UHD functions of an UHD Blu Ray drive, you needed to be using a PC with a specific Intel CPU that supported the instruction set (Intel SGX). From what I've heard, no AMD CPU will work for grabbing 4K Blu Ray discs. Is that the case or have you found this to be false?

Hello I just bought the drive and enclosure that you suggested. My only concern is that I want to ensure I do not loose any quality with video and audio when I rip my content. Will this procedure ensure that I have the same quality when I stream vs when I play the disc?
Depends on what software you're using. If you're using Windows 11 and the built in Media Player, when your file is playing, at the bottom right click on 'Languages and subtitles' (or ctrl+L). Below audio click on one of the other audio tracks. You should hear audio now, if you're using a different software I would try to do the similar thing in that, just depends on the software.

I have no idea what to do when it comes to this kind of process. I have a really nice setup in my basement but when it comes to this I’m at a loss. Really could use help, thx.
So my family has quite a large digital movie collection, which I have added a lot of movies to. I've recently moved out and would rather have hard copies do u know how to rip DVDs in reverse. I've been searching the Internet endlessly for answers and could really use some help.
You kinda just need to open em in VLC and check em. Typically whatever show you're watching will have a title after the opening credits but sometimes you have to look at the next episode preview if there is one, or sometimes you just have to compare against the synopsis on TVDB. Most of the time the episodes are arranged sequentially and then I can just use PowerRename to put the proper episode numbers on. I also occasionally use filebot to put the titles on but it doesn't work super well if the episodes aren't numbered right in the first place
Not automatically. But the easiest way to determine the episode structure on the disc is to look at the "Source File Name" of each file that MakeMKV detects. You can see it over on the right hand side in this video but he doesn't mention it. The smallest number is the first episode on the disc, and the episodes increase numerically from there. Sometimes it'll skip several numbers at a time, but as long as you name the files sequentially, you're good. This has only been true for Blu-Ray TV show sets in my experience. DVDs are almost always already in order top to bottom, but you can still use this method to double check.
Thanks for such a comprehensive guide. I'm using MakeMKV with MacOS. Just a couple of questions. How do you deal with TV shows episodes being out of order? does MakeMKV installs Java? I don't want Java at all in my OS, I'm a little bit paranoid and I think it's a well know security breach. Thank you!
In theory, any programming language is a security risk. Browsing the internet in coffee shops while transferring sensitive and important information/documents over the internet is dangerous on its own WITHOUT the proper safety precautions, Java works the same way. I dont know where this idea of Java being a huge risk came from (its a valid concern) but keeping your Java updated and practicing proper cyber security significantly reduces the risk of exploitation and being hacked. In other words, keep your Java updated and dont download random unknown programs and you'll be fine .
Name the episodes correctly and a media server like Plex should be able to appropriately categorize them and put them in order. Something like filebot can assist you in the proper naming convention. It compares your naming of the file against an online database and processes and renames it to a format that plex can pick up on and put into the right category and order for you.
I have a recommendation for your next video down the line sometime.. 😉 To show how to properly have Plex/Jellyfin/Emby setup/configured in order to playback the mkv rip as the director intended. I mean how to send the audio track directly to the receiver for decoding and have the TV/PC/media streamer play the movie in the correct frame rate. It took me a long time to figure it out and at the end when I thought I had it, I realized that apparently I have to change the refresh rate on my PC manually to 24Hz, which then sets that on my projector. All and all it’s a pain in the ass as Plex never remembers these settings and it has to be changed manually every time when I sit down to watch something from my Plex library. So I invested $250 in a dedicated media streamer - Zidoo Z9X pro and completely stopped using and removed Plex, as Zidoo plays all video files and remembers to send audio direct to the receiver and matches the frame rates as well with ease! Also be sure to mention the Apple TV and no atmos playback in the Plex app or Infuse, I stopped using it as well. Zidoo to the rescue! It costs only $50 more than the Nvidia shield but is not as outdated - the reason I didn’t and never got to own a shield. 🤷♂️ Otherwise what good is a Blu-Ray rip if we can’t watch it as the Blu-Ray player would play it back on any system ... 🤔 Thx for your videos!!
Thank you very much for the comment! This is largely the reason why we started using a Zidoo player in our theater as well. The SHIELD also sends the original Dolby ATMOS track to our processor through the Plex and Jellyfin apps but it's really nice not having to rely on an extra server-side component to send the movies over the network as with the Zidoo. We might dive into this topic deeper in another video!
I absolutely love my Zidoo Z9X Pro. I just spent the last 6 weeks ripping my entire Blu-ray library (3D, 4K, & HD) to my new Synology NAS and used the Zidoo to customize my posters, fanart (backgrounds), clearlogos, theme music, collections, poster labels, etc. The Zidoo supports ISOs, MKV, 3D MVC, native frame rates, resolutions, HDR, Atmos, DTS-X, pretty much everything. Today, I learned that you can side-load Plex onto the Zidoo (It's called ZidooPlexMod). It was really cool setting it up and having it use the Zidoo player to play back the video. This means that it supports all of the Zidoo playback functionality. It's funny, because I started watching a movie using Plex, stopped the movie, went into Zidoo's Home Theater 4.0 app and it saved my progress from Plex. It was in my Recent category and everything. Started playing the movie and it started from where Plex stopped. Pretty cool.
Alright, here's a couple of questions. The first, I already know the answer... How to merge seacam, PAL and ntsc? The answer, would be to first trim of copyright marks (say, MediaBlasters vs Funimation) and changing the timing of the audio tracks so they all match. The second question: How to make an MKV play different video chapters, depending on the audio tracks? (In Finding Dory, the aquarium signage changes to match the spoken language) What about the same, but for regions? (If the Blu-ray player is physically in Japan, then add a mosaic overlay during "naughty" scenes. If the player is NOT in Japan, then the raw video is played.
I don't know if you can help me in the reply or make a video or do both about two different things I have questions on one what about some subtitle tool that I'm able to label different subtitles to identify which ones audio commentary or something in a different language sometimes there's multiple audio commentarys and I would like to label that stuff. Also the other thing if you could help me out with is the proper file naming with some kind of tool so Plex can see the files in its database because a lot of times it won't recognize the file to show up and Plex. If you can help me with that and or make a video that would be awesome. PS I did use filebot, but I'm looking for something that's free or doesn't have a subscription okay thank you!
If you're recompressing the file you can do this via handbrake, the audio tracks by default are folded in half and you can just hit a < looking mark on the right hand side to see the track name field. You can change it even if you're using passthrough. The subtitle tracks also have a name field to change and you can add extra tracks or change around the order or set one as default or even burn one in if you need. If you're not recompressing then there's an MKV header editor in MKVtoolnix which just lists out all the tracks and lets you change any property you want. If you need to do this for a bunch of similar tracks at once you can write a batch script that uses mkvpropedit (MKVtoolnix is really a frontend for mkvpropedit) and I do this a lot for anime TV series processing. Kinda just take the same one and make minor edits like switching which sub track is full subtitles and which one has onscreen text translations only.
As far as the Plex stuff you just need to follow the guides they provide but if you're following exactly but your show or movie has a generic name and supplying the years and everything still gets it mismatched then there's a part in their page on naming your media that explains how to add a tag with the exact IMDB/TMDB/TVDB ID number and a few of mine have this. It also explains how to tag stuff like a single movie split across multiple files, a single file with multiple episodes (useful with stuff like cartoons where multiple episodes are presented as a single episode with only one Opening and End credits) and there's a separate page for what to do if you want to put bonus features for a show or movie. As far as renaming stuff, I honestly just used Notepad++ and PowerRename for years, and when I finally did get filebot I usually still have to use PowerRename first to get the episode numbers right
I am trying to do this on my Mac and the pdf tool is a exe file and won't open on a Mac is there any work around for this? Ive looked on the forums and can't find a answer. any help is appreciated. thanks.

Really great guide. That being said, holy cow what a PITA! This convinced me I don’t want to jump into the rabbit hole of ripping. Easier to stick with DVDs or get therapy for hoarding. 😆
Eh once you've done it a couple times and developed a workflow it's pretty simple. Especially if you're just doing movies that don't need subtitles. Rip it, rename it, recompress it using a preset, drag the finished movie to your Plex folder, repeat for however many you have, delete any leftover files at the end and hit scan on your Plex library.
As of July 3, 2024, this method fully works with that LG Bluray drive from Amazon. Software and all, only difference was the naming structure in the firmware patch for the drive.

Your channel has been so helpful. I’m still debating on buying a NAS or building one. Waiting on a sale for something that will work for me. But I appreciate this detailed breakdown on the ripping process.
ASRock n100, m.2 SATA adapter and a SATA PCIe card. I paid 400€ for a 8 Bay NAS, excluding HDDs.

You did an excellent job of going over each scenario. Very well done

You should keep up on this series... the information available is all over the place and giving new comers a series of videos to get started is great... keep it up!
@@GetOffMyyLawn Then what should I select? I don't want my CPU to be fried.
@@charlesdoesmore5488 I usually use h.265 10 bit, constant framerate, encoder preset slower, constant quality 22. It will make your cpu run full blast, and will take a long time. If you don't care about file size, then just use the instructions to create mkv files straight from the disc.

What about movies with Dolby Vision? Afaik MakeMKV does not incorporate the DV layer into the MKV. Can you make a tutorial about that as well please?
Reading online, it seems that Dolby Vision data is preserved by MakeMKV. The issue is that very few media players know what to do with it.
@@ambientoverlord Bro, very useful info, thanks 👍
The mist difficult thing I found at least a few years ago was encoding/compression of 4K HDR to maintain support for the most amount of playback devices and not losing certain HDR features. For instance maintaining playback of dolby vision, HDR10+, and HDR10 with proper failover for what the playback device supports. Requires special consideration to the HDR profiles and settings used for H265 encoding. Idk of they've sort of streamlined it now.
Since this is LG drive is getting phased out on Amazon, any other suggestions?

LG dosnt make cd/dvd drives anymore
Hello, I just had to return that lg optical drive today, because it stopped working after a couple weeks. This seems to be a very common issue. Is there a more reliable option that is reasonably priced?
It worked for me on my first try yesterday after I got an ASUS BW-16D1HT Drive in the mail Wednesday!!! You are the best!!!
I’ve been ripping with a Pioneer BDR-UD04 and MakeMKV for ~2 years now. It’s an excellent drive for this and it can also burn DVDs, Blu-Rays, UHD Blu-Rays and M-Discs (for archival purposes).
THANK YOU. I was wondering how to split up the episodes and couldn't figure it out. Appreciate the easy-to-follow guide and all the links provided!
So my question is,
How do I stream my 4K blu-ray remux to my TV whilst retaining Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos?
There are a few discs that have both episodes by title and a glommed-together one at the end, but usually it's one or the other
@@kameoosama lol, saw it after i posted haha. anyways, yes. method described in the video should and does work. but… if its a cartoon, and one giant file with chapters has like 20 episodes crammed into it, and each episode is like 4 chapters, remembering all those numbers to enter into mkvtoolnix can be a pita, lol. that being said, i gots a i am weasel dvd thats just that and i will have to use this method, no matter how boring and twdious it will get. cheers.
@@TwoGuyzTech all good, agreed. i posted right before video got to that part, hahah. typical. cheers!
Plus, it doesn't seem to hurt anything to include other language subtitles and audio tracks.
thanks for the guide! i think the "all you need firmware pack" is a little different now, but same idea. i found and flashed the nh16ns60 1.02 bin file and i have been ripping away :) (using the nh14ns40 for others confused by that)
Thanks for the great video. Do you have any suggestions how to combine the 3D video of one disc with the Dolby Atmos track of the 4K disc?
So @TwoGuyzTech I have my ASUS optical drive all set up and ready to rip using MakeMKV. So before I start, should I rip EITHER to .iso format OR select full disc back ups which I believe are BDMV format?
Which software could you recommend to playback those 4k UHD iso files (1:1copies from disc, not shrinked files by mkvtoolnix) in Windows 10 or 11?
It's been years since Power DVD doesn't support this feature any more and VLC player is crap when it comes to picture quality when using a dedicated player like the OPPO series.
Media player if it can handle it, best software hands down
Hi Logan, following up to my prior message and I have another.

You should do a video on 3D Blu-ray for viewing on VR.

Also, Handbrake is only the beginning...once you start learning avisynth, that's a whole new rabbit hole on how to encode your videos. ;)

Hey TwoGuyzTech. Can you clarify something for me? If you don't transcode, yes
Thank Very helpful. One thing though MY MKV files dont seem to have audio even with them checked any thoughts?
Depends on what software you're using. If you're using Windows 11 and the built in Media Player, when your file is playing, at the bottom right click on 'Languages and subtitles' (or ctrl+L). Below audio click on one of the other audio tracks. You should hear audio now, if you're using a different software I would try to do the similar thing in that, just depends on the software.

No idea sorry, try a DVD rw?
I'll have to check out the MKV tool you demonstrated, is there anything that helps identify the episode titles after using MKV?
What program are you using for ripping dvds
Anyone know what I should look for in a drive to rip 4k? I have an older BluRay Drive (2019?) that has Multilayer R-DL.
Well I'd not use a Nass but will place em on a home media center I build out myself
You guys are awesome 🎉
does flashing you drive impact recording on LG
Any suggestions, I could not flash firmware for Archgon drive
Can this drive also playback 4k blue ray disks on PC with HDR and Dolby Atmos stablely?
Alright, here's a couple of questions.
The first, I already know the answer... How to merge seacam, PAL and ntsc? The answer, would be to first trim of copyright marks (say, MediaBlasters vs Funimation) and changing the timing of the audio tracks so they all match.
The second question:
How to make an MKV play different video chapters, depending on the audio tracks?
(In Finding Dory, the aquarium signage changes to match the spoken language)
What about the same, but for regions?
(If the Blu-ray player is physically in Japan, then add a mosaic overlay during "naughty" scenes. If the player is NOT in Japan, then the raw video is played.
Is there a way to stream UHD rips from the NAS without *any* quality loss through the stream?

Many other people online are recommending not to buy this drive for low quality concerns.
