@@Cairo198 In the 18th century people generally wore wigs in public, at social functions and when receiving guests. At other times they tended not to wear wigs and wore turban type headwear. There is a well know statue of Alexander Pope wearing such an item. What Annie Lennox's character is wearing here is the female version of that. It suggests that the ball is happening in her own home and that she had decided to stay away from it but seeing her ex had caused her to lose control of herself, break protocol and go storming in without first pausing to have her wig put on, which is in part acknowledged by the other guests appauled looks as she forges through them to get to John Malchovich.

I said it back then, and I'll say it again... This gal has one hell of a set of pipes on her !
Caught the Eurythmics at Pine Knob. I am newly married with my bride and friends.
While performing "Sweet Dreams" there would be quick 'blackout' lighting cues (keyed to the beat), and each time the lights came back up... Ms. Lennox had lost clothing.
      A slow seductive strip tease.
Plus.... each time the lights came back she was in another place on the stage.
Fog machines and hasers were filling the air....
      Clothing was disappearing.
And Anne was moving and singing in the audience, and disappearing and reappearing..... it was NUTS !
      THEN SUDDENLY...
In the aisle immediately behind my wife and mine seats, there she was!
      In her spot-light !!!!!
Sing to the two of us !
Nothing left on, but red lace Lingerie... looking at just the two of us, sing to us.
      Totally random !
      It was AMAZING!
      Best ever concert experience ?...
      Damned straight !!!!!

I was 13 years old in 1992. On the 6th September I had a massive Epileptic seizure that, if my sister hadn't found me would have been fatal. I was in a coma for 8 days in Pendlebury hospital in Manchester. When I came around this was playing on the radio. I always feel quite emotional when I hear it and can always conjure how I felt when I woke up. This song will always be special to me.

I always thought it was a shame that when the greatest female voices are mentioned/discussed, Annie Lennox is often forgotten about. Obviously everyone knows about and is familiar with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, etc. I always felt Annie Lennox is just as talented and gifted as any of the aforementioned women. She has a truly unique voice and ability that very few possess. She may not possess the 5 octave range of many of those artist, but that does not make her an less special or accomplished as they are. She is a truly special voice, artist, and individual. I never get tired of listening to her and her music, whether it be solo or with the Eurythmics.

This is just such a killer song. Even reading the lyrics is enough to bring a lump to your throat. There's a touch of old Motown to it: the riff, the four-to-the-bar beat, the backing vocals. It's so beautifully restrained and yet so emotive - it's a perfect expression of anguish and heartbreak. Then add the video; well, that just renders it bloody exquisite, doesn't it? The sexual jealousy finds a perfect setting in this wonderful footage , which is both tongue-in-cheek yet dramatic and poignant. Tears-in-the-eyes stuff.

This is one of the greatest videos ever, it pays homage to the characters played by the amazing John Malkovich ( the suave Sebastian Valmont in Dangerous Liaisons (1988)) and the formidable Hugh Laurie - ( the bumbling Prince Regent in Black Adder III (1988)). These two actors portray the personalities of the characters they played, which were incidentally both set in the late eighteenth century hence the costumes donned by the players in the video. Finally, the cherry on top is the incredible acting skills and vocals of the mesmerizing Annie Lennox. This video is a work of art, with splendid composition, arrangement, costumes, timing, cinematography, art direction, and of course bears repeating the vocals of Annie Lennox!!!!

Maybe Hollywood was too worried about their image at the time since she was a huge gay supporter, or she just cared more about music and nothing else.

It's a Lyrical and Visceral Story she's sharing about her most intimate and raw emotions she feels towards her lover. Her great love that tears at her soul despite her best efforts to reason with herself about the reasons for being the lover that loses and suffers the greater loss. She's writing the narrative but singing her experience in the emotions. She knows she made mistakes but one more night alone without the one she craves she needs takes another cut to her soul too deep. She will abandon all sense and sensibility if she can just regain what she feels she can not live without. Her Pride is not hidden but neither is her Pain. So don't diminish her voice it sings her truth.

Just love this video- the scorned woman. So angry, so jealous, so desperate. SHES CRAWLING ON THE FLOOR she wants him so bad but is rejected. THEN SHE heads down that long staircase and jumps into his arms. A happy ending…. Even if it might all be in her mind.
