Everyone is a vocalist, even me on the drums. This song being one of the ones I lead the vocals. Thanks for the compliments about my singing.
As for the mastodong joke, we get all sorts of jokes/puns about it. It's all in good fun. Hell, my sticks are mastobranns.
As for heavier and all that, the album is a mix of our older sound with more recent sounds. But pretty much any track I'm leading vocals it will be more tame. I've tried to be fancy whilst doing both but it's difficult so to be able to focus on a higher quality vocal track we put the brakes on the complexity while singing.
Anyways thanks for checking us out, much appreciated.
* For the kiss stuff, yeah they're part of our childhood. Peter being one of my idols. But most of the inspiration honestly comes from blues style music. We're metal heads but not 100% of the time.

If you like this, their song Steambreather is also great. Also High Road & The Motherload are great.
PS: This is much more mellow then their older stuff. They seemed to have chilled out as the years have progressed. Kiss isnt sited as an influence, but they have mentioned Metallica, Maiden, Slayer, Judas Priest, AC/DC and Zeppelin.

As for songs to get into them, Mother Puncher or The Czar would be awesome. Very different ends of the spectrum of their sound but equally awesome. Seabeast, The Wolf Is Loose, and Spectrelight are some other bangers worth checking out as well.

That song reminded me of a Queens of the Stone Age song. I liked it but didn’t love it, but I think I’ll go back and check out more Mastadon because I’ve never really listened to much. Saw them live once though and they were sick. Thanks for giving me more new shizz to add to the playlist, these videos always make me happy, especially watching you give each other crap lol

Black Tongue and Curl of the Burl are really good song of these guys, and for old heavy stuff, the only place to start is Blood and Thunder (if you don't already know it)! Honestly, you could dip into any of their albums, particularly since Crack the Skye, and find some fantastic songs tucked away!

Know I'm very late to this reaction but I just came across this video and Mastodon being one of my favorite bands, had to check it out. I love this album from start to finish. If you haven't checked it out already, I definitely suggest checking out the song, "More than I Could Chew". It has a great combination of heavy and great melodies. Not that it's the only song to do so, it's just one of my favorites by them...off any of their albums, and that is saying a lot.
It’s a progressive rock song with edge, from a progressive metal band. They are definitely fresh with their sound and it’s signature; you can’t mistaken a mastodon song.
Album released last night and it was so fuckin awesome. Mastodon always delivers, this is a great song and might not even be too 5 on the album. More than you could chew is fuckin glorious. One of the best bands on the planet. Anyway good stuff fellas.

Definitely one of their more radio rock songs, less frantic.
But their latest album was awesome,
Songs like: Andromeda, Show yourself and Leviathan are definitely worth checking out from them.
Kiss does have a lot of classic songs even though their personas can be offputting, can definitely see the influence. Also they have been getting less heavy their last 3 albums or so but they still got some heavier tracks too, their last album was crazy! Even the first single was awesome.

A lot of the other comments I was going to make have already been covered, including by Brann himself! Fucking A.
I believe it was on the Bonus Disc for the album The Hunter, Brann made a comment that he basically learned to restrain himself and sit in a groove instead of just doing crazy fills for a full song :D Which it seems allowed them to really find grooves and riffs and just shred on top of it. And to Brann's point in his comment, allows him to sing more.

Tbh…I found it kind of boring. Don’t hate.
I like their heavier sound. The repeating rhythm guitar should have been more in the forefront and the bass could be pushed back a bit.
Huge fan of Mastodon but this song sucks. Did not enjoy it and now listening again on your channel i disliked it even more.
You sound like those huge Metallica fans that hated them after the black album. Been there, done that. Then I grew up.
