I'm 31 today. When I listen to this, I can pinpoint every single detail from my boyhood room, being 7-8 years old and playing the game. Nostalgia is an awesome experience.
I found myself involvend in thoughts like, why don`t play the remastered edition on your PS5? I believe It shall something really possibile in the future..
I've played the game too much since then to have memories like that, but the one thing that does stand out are the handwritten notes I made on mob drops and battle arena capture checklist as internet guides wasn't widely available back then
Just turned 35, and have a wife and 2 kids. My kids are closer to the age I was when I played this game, than I am now. Hearing this brings back so many memories.
I was about 13 and I can home after school on my birthday and I seen this huge box in my room. Opened it up and there was a ps2 with 3 games. Metal gear solid 2, Gran Turismo 3 and Final fantasy X. The brand new ps2 had a very distinct sweet electronic smell to it and every single time I hear this song I'm brought back to that moment its probably one of my strongest nostalgia memories.
I'm turning 37 soon. I get it. That was a very exciting time. I'm always saying kids these days just won't understand what gaming was at that time. It's just not the same today.
Hello fellow 30 gang, PS2 was definitely a special kind if excitement I don't think I've found since then. Sometimes I think it had more to do with the stable and not crazy times of back then. Or maybe the internet is to blame.
35... X2 just came through the door, I read the cover and manual back to back before spending the entire weekend playing the game. A good time to be alive. (about 2003) Now I have 100 games in my steam library and get bored after 2 hours before loading up another. I think it's because games have lost good levelling up systems. It used to completely change the game unlocking that extra ability. Think back to the simplicity of pokemon games, and how they kept you engaged. Bring back good single player games!
@@nerdsounds Pretty much in the same boat and I agree. I wonder tough, all my youth, people were telling me that everything was better back in the ol days (70s 60s)... Maybe we're all just nostalgic of our good ol time :)
Thanks a lot! I just loved running around exploring this tropical island, and I wanted to get that same feeling in this arrangement. Glad you liked it!
14 years old, the scent of two-stroke gas and summer air in my grandpa's garage. Warm, humid air and the creaking of the camping chair I sat in. My little 16 inch Sony TV and PS2 perched up in the corner. Lemonade and my grandma's cooking. The cute girl that lived down the road. Cloister of Trials attempts between skinned knees from failed kickflips. Days I'll remember fondly for the rest of my life.
One of the most beautiful tracks ever written. I have loved Final Fantasy X since it first came out in 2001. As time goes on I grow to love it more and more. This has truly become a comfort game for me.
@@nerdsounds The graphics were amazing and hearing the voices for the first time made me so happy. It has its downfalls, but for it's time it was top notch.
Favorite Memory of FF10.... BlitzBall was always a lot of fun. But they story gets me every time, and the frustration of the Seymour boss fights always made the game super exciting. In fact, after I complete my binge of playing FF 1-6, I'll like to play this game again!
When i was like 6 i would let this play on my JamPacks ps2 demo of the game i never owned the game bc we were very poor. Now i have the hd remake but just the little demo i could see whole worlds in my head. I wish gaming was still like that.
Big fan of FFs game since being 7… I am 36 now! I still remember how amazed I was when I first stepped into Besaid, and this tune is one of the most relaxing ever made in the series… Thanks for bringing this comforting moment to us 😅
That's awesome! I also was first exposed to FF when 7 came out and loved them ever since. I'm also 36. And when X came out, after the PSX era games, I was pretty blown away by Besaid as well. Thanks for listening, and I hope to bring more comforting moments like this in the future!
Ho god, I love it. It gave me chills. This feeling, the discovery of a new world, full of many awful and beautiful things I had never seen before anywhere. Spira is so unique and precious in my heart, Besaid Island is the place where I understood this story will be incredible and terrible because of what happened just before and the beauty of this little piece of paradise. Thank you for this ! 🥰
I cant remember the details of my childhood well, but I can recall how this song made me feel then. More importantly I come back to this game every five years or so and each time I love it again but a little different, with new life experiences different characters speak to me more or I notice new things. In the end the me from twenty, fifteen, ten or even five years ago may not share everything with me today but they passed each other and me the tourch of this feeling and memories of this wonderful adventure. Thank you for making this.
Love your take on Besaid! I think this is one of the most relaxing songs in the whole FF series. It just captured that tropical island feel perfectly! 😊
This is gorgeous. I absolutely love it and I think you perfectly captured exactly what you were hoping to. Amazing job and thank you for this lovely piece of art.
I came here because I'm having gamer block and needed to ease the mind. I will probably be playing more X again soon. But yeah. Nice calming music for a soothe of the mind. I think it's working.
In love with this!! Great job, by the way! I feel like I am replaying the game . Tides is swimming around Besaid getting to know the island. Let's blitz!
I'm so rarely impressed by versions different to the original OST. But the 4:03 to 4:21 part unlocked something I wasn't expecting. I was imagining playing a remaster with in-play cutscene graphics with this part playing in the background and got a bit emotional.
Thank you so much! I usually try to keep the original intent of the piece, but boost the flavor, so to speak. And I’m all about that emotion, so thank you for sharing. :)
@@nerdsounds You did exactly what you set out to do here! It captures the feeling of the original, but also elevates it beautifully - which is exactly how I’d hope an updated remaster would approach it.

I love hearing people talk about their memories like this, because they're so similar to my own as a kid/teenager. This game (including blitzball, which I played a TON) was so cool when it came out.
Yeah, his classic PS2 face is definitely way better! They made him look like a baby in the newer versions. Most of the characters are better in the original.
I know some people dont like main characters having voices but i really loved that the whole game was about Tidus explaining what he was going through and his point of view, imagining someone going into another alien world where everything is different and everyone they ever knew was gone, or so they thought......
Yeah! I was pretty excited about the voice acting, and I don't know why people wouldn't like main characters having voices if that main character is all fleshed out with backstory and everything. With a western RPG, where you've created your own character, that makes sense that you wouldn't want a voice on them. Anyway, I agree!

Haha yeah, for sure! I used to watch all of the cutscenes from that game and show them to my friends. They probably didn't appreciate them like I did, but they politely watched lol And Blitzball is WAY cool.

@peterstevens5741 Haha Thanks! That would be soooo coool, but alas, it's not Square Enix's style to use a track that's not written by their chosen composer. But I can dream!
@Tinseltopia Yeah, I agree. If they remade 10, I'd want it to basically be updated graphics, orchestrations, and POSSIBLY updated voice acting, but the original is pretty iconic. haha
A lovely arrangement, though I have one small critique. I feel like you minimalized, or put too little emphasis on the instrument used for the three beats between each snare (and later, each triangle) hit. I can't tell if its a string instrument or percussion, but regardless it sounds too muted. I don't feel it would harm the tranquil and nature-y vibe of the song to change that. On the flipside, the piano really put me in the mind of water droplets hitting rocks, it's a great sensation and stands out!
Hey, thanks for that. It's a drum, and yeah, I see what you mean. I didn't want it to overpower the tranquil mood, but I think maybe a more poppy, less bassy drum, like a bongo would be better suited there. Perhaps I'll do an updated arrangement in the future! Thanks for listening, and for the tip! Good ear. :)
Hm. Well... If you want to do a better version, please feel free. Also, if you take a look at the comments, it's pretty clear that the vast majority of people would disagree with you. You're welcome to dislike it, but if you don't have any constructive feedback, then consider keeping these kinds of comments to yourself, thanks. ;)

Good ear. :)

Huh? I did use a midi for some of it, yeah.
This version sucks
Hm. Well... If you want to do a better version, please feel free. Also, if you take a look at the comments, it's pretty clear that the vast majority of people would disagree with you. You're welcome to dislike it, but if you don't have any constructive feedback, then consider keeping these kinds of comments to yourself, thanks. ;)
