I'm new to watercolour but have been watching videos for quite a while. I just discovered your channel a week ago and I find it to be the most enjoyable to watch and learn from. I am so encouraged to continue on with it and now to take it outside. Thank you for the time and effort you put into your videos and all the tips and teaching you give. Much love to you and your camera lady. LOL
I totally agree with Shanty Barry. I think Charles is a great artist, the most lovely man you could wish to meet, and on top of all that he is HOMEGROWN. His tutorials are fantastic, he is the best teacher of art I have ever come across in my 70 years. Charles thousands of us love and admire you so blow the BBC. In short,. they don't deserve you. Please stay safe, and thank you for your art and time. x
thank you for sharing such a personal teaching and i love your outdoor space… very inspiring! will give this a go when its not too windy here!! Love the sunlight showing all the texture of the paper too …the lab is adorable
They are never boring! I really enjoy them because you can actually learn something watching you, although you make it look easier than it is. Watching someone fast forward doesn't teach anything. Thank you for all of your videos, they are really helpful. You are so talented.
Charles sir you really make things easy for us to learn. You are more better than anyone else . I love your paintings and the way you teach makes learning easy 😊
Love your demonstrations! I’ve been painting for a number of years but I have learned so much from you. I bought your Pocket Book....nice and handy. Thank you.
I love trees also and I am so pleased that you let us see every stroke, because it shows every step in order. It is never boring! You have my favourite dog breed also. I had a black labrador for 17 years which is a ripe old age for a lab.
it is good to see how you use the brush to make the marks, so no its not boring ,which helps me a lot being a new boy ,nice place ,love the garden ,thanks for the lesson
Thanks Charles, I really need to realize that we can paint anything, as long as there's some interesting focal point. Oh, and composition , harmony , balance, tonal value......blah blah. LOL. seriously though that was fun to watch and inspiring. Looking forward to the next one.
Wow, another fantastic painting and lesson, I like the way you did the grass. I come from Hartlepool so know how to say Grass, path and bath but now I live down in Bedfordshire and they spell words wrong down here, parth and barth indeed. Keep up with these fantastic lessons, they are getting me through these strange times.
04212020 🤗 Awesome, Lovely Energy from nature, as the Birds are really sounding off their musical expressions joys, in your painters paradise. Thanks You, Sir Charles for Sharing much more than a lesson of drawing and painting. (EH,AllAtOneHeart)
Dear Charles i get just today your amazing books Coastal Landscape, Art of Watter color and i allready looking for weekend to try out some of the amazing excersizes inside, thank ypu for all your sharing pf experience during this dificult period of time, regards Pavol
Well done Charlie, just what we need at this time. As always informative and made to look easy. Keep it going and who knows I may get to do one of your classes in Northumberland next year (if this virus stops mutating etc).. and if I can get a place this time!!!?? Stay safe and well. Neil
Thanks Charlie, your lovely videographer and Berty boy. If someone had told me a couple years ago that i would be so intent watching paint dry, I would have thought them a lunatic. Still to cold ,windy and snowing on and off for outside fun. Sigh. Thank you for the great lesson. QUESTION: watercolor portrait of Bert from a photo? I've seen horses you've done and they are lovely . It wouldn't be too long. We like watching paint dry. 😁👍
Thank you very much for this lovely painting in your garden! I tried it.....but of course without the same result as yours!! And it makes me so far from this virus while painting...
Why the hell is BBC4 currently showing an ancient US painting series, when a far superior UK program in every single way, is available. Aren’t we suffering enough.
I mean if I lived in Alaska the BBC4 series might be useful but here in sunny Devon we don’t have much use for drawing glaciers, obviously can’t speak for Scotland.
Hi Charles you've got the best painting channel on UA-cam and I'm glad you're uploading your videos in this difficult time. I try to emulate them every time but don't even come close but it keeps me happy 🙂. Stay well and keep safe from glacier free Scotland and keep dabbling
How can you hold a little tiny pencil ? My hands are so crippled I find just holding a pencil is agony . I am 74. I am just beginning to do art after a life time of wanting to paint.
Ok....let’s just admit it...that’s a ridiculously beautiful garden with at least one museum piece of a tree.....Not everyone here is so lucky. I for instance have pebbles and no trees in my “yard”.
Thank you teacher for these contents, especially in these times when it is necessary to keep our minds on something creative. I owe you a bottle of Matinal.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. What brand of palette are you using?
It’s a well abused Holbein Professional.
Brilliant how you can take an otherwise mundane image and turn it into a beautiful work of art.
Pleased you enjoyed it.
Lovely demo thank you Charles !!!
You’re very welcome.
Do you ever clean your palatte? How do you arrange the colors in the palatte?
No, I never clean my palette, but everything is always squeezed out in the same places!
