I spent one day learning to draw boxes in perspective, and then i warped them in wierd forms! i couldnt sleep at night because all i thought of was boxes and shapes.. But because of this i can now probably draw hands ,feet etc better because i understand the forms! I highly recommend anyone who wanna learn to start with this! Its not hard and its pretty fun once you get the hang of it and it will help your drawings ALOT
I love this comment. It's been a long time since I was absorbed in anything outside of work and responsibilities but at 55, after losing my life partner and falling into deep grief, I am teaching myself how to draw (love YT for stuff like this) and... I am getting better SLOWLY (my boxes almost look like boxes after a month, lol) but also enjoying the learning. I also envied/admired the artists in my life and now I understand it JUST takes commitment. Most of you will be much younger than me so let me be that crazy aunt and tell you to pursue your actual interests with all your heart. You will never regret doing life that way.
This is hands down the best video at explaining this! You made it so easy to understand! The way you guide us through the construction is so unique. I am sharing this video as much as possible! Thank you so much!
I was struggling with boxes for a drawing course I am doing and I’ve watched at least 30 videos on this topic for the last few days. Yours, as others have already said, is hands down the best. I finally get it. You explained it so well! I rarely live comments on youtube, but fet the need to express my gratitude. Thank you! Greetings from Romania
I just started learning how to draw and I've seen a lot of videos and art teachers. Even though I already practiced 3D shapes by eyeballing perspective, your video caught my intention. I'm so happy I clicked on it, because you are a phenomenal teacher. Your pace is great and you explain perspective a very simple and relatable way. Just by consistently reminding that lines further away need to be shorter and comparing the angles again and again, I feel like you made perspective finally click for me. I subbed to your channel, because I think your style of teaching resonates really really well with me :) Thank you!
Hi, Liron. This is the first tutorial I've come across on drawing shapes in 3d perspective. You explained and demonstrated this so clearly. I would definitely like to see more videos on shapes in perspective. Thanks!
I am Brazilian. And even though I understand a little English, I perfectly understand your explanation and example. Thank you, now I'm really starting to understand 3D shapes in perspective better.
I am very interested in more of this. I go back and forth between drawing and watercolor. I struggle with perspective and I found this very helpful. I understand the concept when I watch it being done,,, but somehow my hand and mind get confused. I think I just need to practice, practice, practice the basic shapes until it becomes ingrained. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I’m going to look into your books too.
I have been scrambling my brain since days or probably years and have always somewhere been scared and somewhat frustrated to touch upon details of the 3D Objects. Searched for hell many videos who will me with perspective of closer and far object but none satisfied me. Finally I have found this! So I'm taking this moment to really appreciate your efforts. Thanks a ton! Keep on making more of such videos.
thank you so much for this. you see a lot of videos talking about drawing shapes and understanding forms and perspective, but none ever logically explain HOW. i find a lot of aspects of art easier to understand with a more mathematical approach and you did that perfectly!
Your videos are always so informative and really helpful , Thank you Liron for being so generous with your tuition , you explain everything so clearly , I am always learning something new from you.
Of allllllll the videos I've watched, THIS was the one that FINALLY made me understand what everyone else trying to teach perspective couldn't. Thank you, Sir. You are officially my UA-cam hero.😊
Finally someone that makes sense! I watched other vid about rotating and the was so much mathmatics it scrambled my brain and confused me. But you gave me something to work on. thank you so much dude. :D 🔥
If you wanna learn, I just draw squares and maybe more shapes in different perspectives, and if you animate you can try animate a cube spinning, its helped me a lot with drawing shapes in perspective so far
You're a really good teacher. I've watched a couple vids and yours is the first that helped me truly understand to where I feel confident moving forward
this was really a very helpful video! i've been drawing for as long as i can remember but i NEVER built on the basics- so all my drawings looked super flat. tysm for this!
Thank you for this video dude! I just started drawing and I couldn't find a good video about rotating 3d objects in perspective, every video assumes that i'm a professional artist and understand deep geometry, elipses etc and just skips to super technical stuff! Your video made me undestand and 'see' construction of objects in perspective and the perspective itself muuuch better as a begginer.
you are such a wonderful teacher, thats the first video i saw where someone actually managed to simplify such a complicated topic and make it so understandable, props to you friend keep up the good work i have been watching and replaying your vids alot and i have learned so much from them, thank you so much
Hi Liron, It is one of those 'Thanks for reminding me. A great artist and friend, sadly no longer with us, was always doing this wherever he was i.e. Restaurants, pubs with notebooks, napkins and once on a tablecloth which he paid for and took away with him after the meal. Certainly, something I do not do enough of, even though it is wonderful practice for any artist and especially for a beginner, so great video Liron. You deserve your success.
I've been having some troubles with perspective but this video helped me gain an alternative POV that I didn't have: You mentioned multiple times about corners, lines etc being far/near us. I never thought of it like that, only the angles and sizes. Hopefully this should make it a bit easier for me. :)

@@LironYan Thanks! Hey, it's not bad at all! It's quite closer to the western style to be honest but there is a touch of manga here and there. You have a dotted background at some point. Reference to manga's screentone tradition? :D Man....I'm trying to learn the traditional way as much as I can but I'm giving up on screentones. Can't find them in my country except in a "starter's pack" sort of a thing.
I am just now finding you on UA-cam since watching you on Angela Fehr’s Guest Show. Thank you so much for this lesson. I will watch it over and over. I really like the way you teach.
i think a video of you turning a cube in many more directions would be helpful. For example, at 16:12 you draw the right side of the cube at a steeper angle than the left side but don't really explain that. It's those types of explanations that I think would be so so helpful. At least for me. Great work.
This was very informative. I would like to see more about drawing ovals. When I'm drawing a flower pot, or a bowl, I have a difficult time making the top look real. I understand more how to fix this based on today's video, but I would like even more instruction. It was also enlightening to see how much you practice. For some reason, I think professional artists like you don't need to practice anymore, so this was good to know.
Thank you for this very informative video. This is what I needed to understand the basics cause this is what’s lacking in my drawing. I want to furthermore enhance my skills and get better at it.
When I was a kid I used to do this. My father was a carpenter and artist and would show me how to see (SEE) things. I would get in trouble for drawing in margins on my school work. Ha ha! But it was never broken down for me like this. Now I understand why I see as I do!
Thank you so much! I've been searching for a decent lesson on perspectives and shapes and you explained it very clearly. I understood how shapes work because of you and I hope you continue on learning art!
At the 20:00 mark we can clearly see that BC is longer than AD. Which is true when reckoning dates as well. It’s also funny that it’s at the 20:00 minute mark since we are living in what is relatively 2000 AD. 😂

Finally a video that explains perspective without grid but instead in terms of intuition. I enjoyed this method a lot.
Very happy it was helpful! Thank you 🙏😊
I find intuition tends to beat everything else in the long run (:
