Currently have 2 of these and still playing with them. Love it. I used to have elbow / forearm issues with Pure Drive Pro but haven't had any arm pain whatsoever with the current sv, so it's weird to see you guys say it's not a comfortable racket.

I think, from experience that the SV is 'crisper, more powerful and raw' so i tend go agree.
The 2018, i agree it takes a lot of customising to tailor to one handers needs as you want some weight on the lower handle and also increase the SW without polarising it too much.
How you balance and adjust is highly personal but i found adding maybe 5g lead.... half a leather grip, and full overgrip on the handle plus maybe 5g lead either at 3/9 position or split 10, 2, 4 and 8 positions has been a good set up.
The frame is 'soft' and all in all makes it a very string sensitive frame, and i find the stuffer Poly Tour Strike 16GA string compliments this frame better than a softer poly like PTP.
Softer frame stiffer strung, stiffer frame softer string being my logic.
Definitely nice rackets for sure. But not easy to swap in and out of, once you go Iso you need to commit to it being your regular frame or else swapping in and out causes issues. Again i agree with you and cant explain it really as the sweet spot isnt close to the frame edges and its not a massive difference in shape i think 'IRKs' is a great word, its perhaps psychological....more than physical.
Great frames the SV and 2018. Great review.

Thanks for the video! Interesting comparison between the different versions. I stumbled across two unused SV95s for peanuts (60 euros) in november, strung with PT Strike. They were so much fun to play with that I kept using them exclusively up until a few days ago, actually. Fast, fairly powerful, easy to move around. But first and foremost: great on serves!
I got a sore wrist a couple of weeks ago. That combined with a sense that they were a bit lacking in the control departement, especially on angled shots like inside out forehand, has lead me to give them a rest for a bit. Happy with that decision but as I said, they were great fun and gave me somewhat of a better understanding of Shapos way to hit the ball. I added just a few grams of lead at 3 and 9 to add some stability.

I have a Vcore SV95 and the new Vcore 95 (blue dash), both Yonex Custom Fit made here in Japan at 335g and 305mm with a leather grip. They are beautiful to hit with. The Custom fit feel much more solid than the retail frames.

i’m loving the new vcore 98. it’s much more muted than the v5 which is what i needed. been having arm and shoulder issues for awhile - and they’d gotten worse since switching from PS 97 CV to vcore 98 v5. very happy with the v6 so far. plan to stick with it as my primary frame for a long time.

Great contrast and compare review on a very popular topic. I have been playing the SV 95 since late 2017 having finally transitioned away from the Head Prestige world. Neither the 2018 or the 2021 version have provided enough reason to give up the SV. On the question of the unappealing matte finishes of the 2018 and 2021 versions vs. the gloss beauty of the SV allow me to offer my best estimation of the reason for this. The SV did have a minor issue with the paint chipping off the frame on the thin edges at the top of the frame. The material composition formulas of the VCORES (obviously a trade secret) do not bind well to gloss paint. Thus the Yonex engineering team elected to go to the inferior matte finishes in the later versions to solve for the chipping "issue". Hopefully they will figure out a gloss paint formulation for the next iteration but I'm not holding my breath on that one as the sales of the 2021 VCORE (98 head size especially) are outpacing all projections.

Thank you for the comparison. I’m wondering if maybe the first time you tested the all red vcore, that the strings are making the difference in what you feel? Maybe for this latest test, the softer string with the flexible racquet was too soft of a combo?

Jonas I'm no expert on your swing but FWIW... You're hitting THROUGH the ball deeper to the baseline. I sense the power is easier for you as even your slices were skidding faster and lower. I can't say you're hitting cleaner, just haven't studied your swing enough to say.

Hey Jonas, thanks for the great video as always! I used to play with the Head Youtek IG Radical Pro, one of my all time favourite racuet. Ever since I purchased a Yonex VCore Pro 97HD, I pretty much felt in love with Yonex. I feel they are super high quality racquet. Amazing feel, control and surprings amount of power and spin from the tight string pattern. Call me crazy, but I find it pretty similar to the radical pro in some ways (both flexy control racquet with a bit of power). Because of this racquet, I basically wanna try all of their higher spec racquets.
I stumbled on a new sv95, was really considering to purchase them. How do you think would they compare to the VCP 97HD and the Radical Pro?
I also recently purchased a pair of Yonex RDiS 100 SP. Do you have any info on that racquet? Have you ever had a chance to hit with it? What do you think about them?

Great review (as always)! Please try the new Prince Phantom 93s. I just got the 14x18 and I am loving it strung with Head Lynx Tour 16 at a nice low 43lbs (19.5 kg). I know you didn't love the open pattern when you tried the previous version, but they did some updates (anti-torsion system) and it is truly a thing to behold. I'd love to hear how you think they compare to the previous models. Also curious if you still prefer the 18x20. I know the 14x18 sounds wonky, but (not having tried it) I can't see how it could improve this stick--I am getting phenomenal control and spin, but even at this low tension my serves are better placed than pounded...

    • @genefrankle1

I'm also playing with sv98, no tape added. It's a demanding racquet for sure but i just love that stiffer and crisper feel that it gives me, i feel so connected to the ball. I tried vcore 98 and it just felt muted and has less put away power because of that muted feel. It is easier on the arm but I just don't feel connected to the ball as with sv98. Also love the 16x20 string pattern because it has that spin potential but it doesn't have that high launch angle of 16x19 vcore 98 pattern. I would love a comparison of old sv98 vs the new vcore 98s. Im looking to a replacement for my sv98 but it's hard to find a racquet with that unique feel. Tried extreme tour 98, its nice, comfortable and easier to play with but it lacks power, direction and firmer feel of the sv98. Maybe babolat pure aero vs, similar specs and 16x20 string pattern?!

Am I the only one who feels the exact opposite? I find the SV 95 to be more muted and dampened as compared to the 2018 VCORE 95 version, which I find tobbe more crisper and powerful at point of contact. I feel more connected to the ball with the 2018 version, with the SV I find myself exerting more effort to get the same amount of feedback that I get on the 2018 version but with half the effort that I exert on the SV.
Having said that, the SV feels more stable than the 2018 version which flutters a bit at point of contact.
