Re Giron, you can tell from the shape that he still uses the 2018 (even though he's holding the 2023 during the speaking portions of the latest TW video on strings).
My favourite tennis string would definently be the solinco confidential before playing with it I was blind and after getting my racquet restrung with it I was able to see how much of a difference using top tier strings made on my game. The solinco confidential fits my play style very well fast swings that give a lot of power but the hits still feel in control.
I used to play competitive tennis as a junior and teen and dealt with severe tennis elbow. I swung hard and aggressive for a young player but didn’t have the muscle mass to compensate. Played the with the pro kennex 7G up until about 6 months ago. Switched to the ‘23 V Core 95 and couldn’t be happier. Using Wilson Natural gut in the mains and tier one ghostwire in the crosses 56/54 (fyi I also play at 7k feet so a little more tension for high altitude). It took a little at first to get used to going from a 100 sq inch 27.5 inch length to 95/27, but now that I am getting comfortable it feels amazing. It is definitely a racket to grow into as a player approaching 4.5 level. I get tons of spin and power when I make good contact. Plenty of times I hit a topspin forehand and my opponents watch it drop in because they simply couldn’t believe it would stay in play. There are other rackets out there that feel much easier to play, but I also think they limit me in terms of rewarding poor footwork and technique. I customized with 2 grams on 3/9/12. This was a little tough at first because it did affect my arm, but once I got used to it and worked on my form and timing I am very happy with the added stability.
My personal racket of choice, retiring my 2018 Vcore 98s, tried the 2023 Vcore 98 and found too much inconsistency. This racket just checks al the boxes for me in spin, power, accuracy, and feel. Mine ended up with a stock sw of 325 and 320, nothing little lead can’t fix. Current setup is polytour rev/4g soft 50/48. Forgiving and spin friendly
Convert myself, coming from playing the last three generations of the Vcore pro. currently using my ‘23 Vcore 95, strung with Solinco Confidential 18 gauge at 48 pounds. I find this racquet to be quite sensitive to string type and tension. Also added weight at 12 o’clock.
@TennCom I'm really enjoying PolyTourRev in recent testing while trying to choose between the '22 EZone 98 and the '23 VCore 100. I played with various iterations of the Wilson 6.1 95 for many years and your review has me wanting to add the ' 23 VCore 95 to the mix. I'm a bit concerned it may not offer as much easy power that I find I need in my senior years though. Thanks for another great review.
I am a 53 year old 4.5 with a good arm, power on the FH and serve, mostly slice on the BH, and an aggressive game. I do love midsized frames (been playing a lot with the Angell TC95, both 16x19 and 18x20) and have recently transitioned to the newest Vcore 95. I agree that it is a gem of a frame, but it does need some lead in the hoop to bump up the swing weight and power (stability is already very good in stock form). One of my regular hitting partner was telling me the other day how he thought my ball was coming in much faster than with my Angell's. Now, let's be clear, this is not as easy to play as an Ezone 98. I had a lesson with a coach the other day, and my strings broke within 15mn (I thought I had at least a couple of hours left in it). As I didn't bring my 2nd Vcore 95, my coach lent me a spare Ezone 98 that he had. There was an immediate bump in the length of my ball, to the tune of about 1 meter on ground shots. Serves were very fast but sailing long, I really had to focus on letting the wrist whip the racquet head down to keep the ball in. Once those adjustments were made, I found the Ezone 98 very user friendly, and complementing my game well. This experience kind of put a spider in my head. I'll continue to play with the Vcore 95, seeing that I like it so much and just bought two a couple of months ago, but at the next change of frame, I'm pretty sure I'll be going to something like an Ezone 98, which is essentially a modern player's frame.
7:25 does the tennishead allow the 6 point mount to fully spin? Almost looks like the knobs would hit against it. I have the same gamma stringing machine and was contemplating the upgrade.
Yes, but not if you follow the instructions provided by tennishead. I needed to have the 360 degree spin so my tensioner is only mounted by 2 bolts (instead of 3) but its been totally fine.
So no need for lead tape on the head??? I love the colors. So I have Diadem Elevate tours (teal) and a matching tour bag, and since those rackets play great overall in stock form, sometimes I feel like I’m missing something . Demos just arrived, and this yonex is one of them. I love heavy, smal head rackets but I’m older so I need to get a little more sensible. Maybe this will be my next rackets
(In my opinion obviously) the SV95 is such an amazing racket with lots of power and spin potential, maneuverability and is so comfortable to play with, however I have added some weight here and there. Not to mention how good it feels on serve. I have yet to notice the “hot spot” on the lower hoop you mention. I only get problems with the string bed when the strings need to be cut out. Is this “hot spot” an actual thing that other users have experienced, I’m actually a little regretful I heard this because I don’t know what you’re talking about but now it’s going to be in my head!
I had 2 x 95Ds back in the day. The problem with the 95d is that at 320g unstrung, and with a low stock swing weight, by the time its strung with overtrip, damp and bit of lead added, you're looking at something around 350g+. That's a heavy swing these days....
Hi Becket, I also did a vcore 95 vid a few months ago. The biggest mistake I made was selling my 2 vcore 95ds. As an aside, your movement was phenomenal in these vids.
I have the 2018 and have also demo’ed the current version. I am a big fan of most control oriented 95s including the prestige, older pro staffs, and the old pure control/pure storm. However, I could not gel with this line of racquets at all. I found instability problems and a lack of forgiveness unless weighted up to 340+ SW. The 2023 model was a bit better but it shifted the sweet spot up to the tip of the frame and I hit more in the center. I just don’t think mixing a classic 95 frame with spin tech is a great idea.
I have a Vcore 95 it grows on you with the head size but i still do frame it a little sometimes but overall not a bad racket and has quite a bit of power
But the question remains, does the 95D play compared to the other VCore 95s? I love my 2018's, but there's always the question how the 95D would play, I assume more powerful with its increased stiffness and slightly thicker beam.
Hi, my current favorite string is polytour pro, and it looks great in my racket. Although, I didn’t really like the feel of it at first, I quickly got used to it.
Definitely a great racket. It’s a racket that grows on you and could make you a better player. But patience is the key with these types of frames. One has to forget it’s a 95 or that it has a different head shape or any other preconceived ideas. Just flow with the racket and see where it gets you. Right now I’m using the Shift 300 as partners are scarce and trying to get playing hours to see if the Shift is what it is. But I suppose I’ll get the Vcore 95 again sometime. Also looking forward to your Pure Aero 98 review. I did no like the Pure Aero VS or 2019!Pure Aero. But always interested in their reviews specially when pros like Alcaraz and other play with it even though I suspect they play with a more refined racket specially made for them. I would love to love Babolat but I don’t like their feel lately.
The 95 delivers on a lot of the same things as the 98 but it doesnt suffer from the launchy stringbed that the 98 has. The Radical MP has the lowest launch angle of the 3, but it also feels like it gets the most power and stability from the beam itself so it can "help you out" more than the other two in tricky positions.
Finally got a 2023 Vcore 95. Definitely more power and spin than my 2018. I strung it with Hyper G at 52 lbs. Plays great but I'm concerned with the tension maintenance and durability of Hyper G. Do you have a string recommendation for this frame?
I've tried, a few things, ReString, Toroline, but Confidential plays the best for my in this frame and it accentuates the awesome canon hitting sound. I think its probably the best sounding racquet today.
@TennCom I agree. I'm very old school in the types a frames I like . Most frames these days feel "hollow" to me, no density. The Vcore 95 is an exception. That hollow feeling is still there a little bit, but is by far better than other modern frames I've hit. Thanks, I'll give Confidential a shot.
I use now a leather grip, but my raquet changed totally, I like the feel but I don’t like the new Head lite, how return the original head lite without take out leather grip?
Not possible. You have to add weight to the head to counter balance it or figure out a way to remove weight in the handle (which is the impossible part). If you don't mind adding weight to find the balance you like, I recommend watching our video on matching racquets.
Thank god i just bought a vcore 95 yesterday. 😁 glad to know i made a good choice. Bundled it up with a regna 98 v3. Got it from a reseller here in Indonesia. Please review the regna, u seemed to be a yonex fanboy now ❤
I haven't tried many strings with it, but I liked Solinco Confidential most. If you hit flatter, I think Hawk Power would look cool and pair really well with the general feel of the VCOREs.
Hi Becket, I’ve just bought 3xVCore 95 2023 so looking forward to dialing in my string choice for this stick; as an aside very keen to hear from anyone with good recommendations. Favourite string, great question. I’ve tried MSV Focus Hex mains crossed with cheap syn gut in the VCore 95 and it’s amazing, I found the feel absolutely addictive. I’ve previously loved Focus Hex in a full bed and Tour Sniper. I’m really excited that I’ve managed to get some restring zero sets in the UK (fairly unusual) and will definitely try that, which I’m looking forward to. Have tried many other strings and enjoyed Hyper G (but bugged out too soon) and Grapplesnake Cube. If you include value I have to say Focus Hex is probably my favourite in my previous sticks (Aero VS), but looking forward to finding my string for the VCore 95.
I've found so far that I actually enjoy Confidential the most. For some reason the crisp feel of Sniper didnt come through as much as I thought it would.
My old SV's and VC95's were 4's, I've ordered some review units in 3's and some in 2's. The 2 on my Percept feels absolutely tiny but the 3's on my VCOREs feel huge. I'd probably get a 2 and build up the buttcap flare.
I bought one in 3 which is my usual size for prince etc but should have bought 2 so I haven't used it much because grip felt to big to maneuver properly and felt the off centre flex sensation to be unusual . But pulled it out today and enjoyed it along side my prince ats tour 98 which is also very soft. But still keen to find a 2018 vcore 95 in a 2. Or is the 2018 grip more true to size? Very interesting frame the 2023. It's actually noticeably wider in the hoop than my prince 98.
I like the most recent iteration of hte head Prestige Tour which is a 95 sq in racquet w/ a thicker beam. Compared to other 95" racquets like the Angell or Yonex vcore 95 (the 2021 version), I felt the beam thickness helped w/ stability especially when I had to defend on my BH. I like though the 95" head for it's slightly faster headspeed on serves and the feel for hitting flatter shots. Sadly I don't think any pros play w/ this frame so I fear Head may eliminate it from the lineup :(
Musetti used to use that mold before he switched to the Extreme Tour under the Boom PJ. Also, that racquet has like a 338SW which is probably driving the stability factor for you more in conjunction the beam thickness.
I am a big fan of the Angell TC95 in both strings configurations (my set-up: 63RA / 310g / 315mm / SW ~298), but I have recently switched to the new Vcore 95. Here's what I can say about it: it is more stable in stock form than the TC95, and doesn't have the very high launch angle of the 16x19 version, without being as low as the 18x20. It's middle of the road between the two. Power level is closer to the TC95 16x19 BUT the Vcore 95 does need 3-4g of lead in the hoop to get there, as its SW is lower in stock for than that of the TC95. In my case, I put 1g at 12 and 1.5g at 10 and 2 each (=4g total) and it is quite powerful in this configuration. Given the frames you like / use, this is probably a good pick, but you'll have to customize it some.
The '21 95 absolutely shredded my wrist for some reason (even with super soft polys like PT Air). Could have been for lots of different reasons - but I am so curious to hit this guy. 61 RA, right? Tempting...
Hey, I just bought a Vcore 95. I started playing 6 month ago and now im not 100% sure, what I String I should put on and how hard the string should bne. I thought about a Polytour REV 1.20mm with 23 kg. Do you think thats an good Idea or not? haha
I don't love PolyTour Rev tbh. Spin is good for a nearly round string, but I 'm constantly wishing for more ball bite and feel. I think COnfidential plays amazingly in the VC95.
, im a player 4,5 to 5,0 id played vcore 95 a lot but game start becoming faster and told my self should go to 98 but they told me the new 95 was more permitting it felt like a 97 or so , so now im thinking if i go for 95 again becouse the new one is forgiving or go 98 , i do go plain strokes with power but my back hand sometimes gets short but the 98 will be less aerodynamic for that i think but more power. what do you think
The 98 is pretty launchy compared to the 95 so its not an easy transition. Going to something like an Extreme Tour or EZONE 98 will be more natural I think.
Apparently the current Vcore95 reacts best if you hit the ball ABOVE the 'sweet spot'. Since I hit lot of balls there this racquet should suit my 'shortcomings'. 🤔
the launch on the Radical is lower and spin is worse, put stability and power is better. The 95 has a way longer dwell time but the Radical feels more direct
its possible that they are just out of stock. The Canadian Yonex distributor can get them. If you call Courtside they can place an order for you if they don't already have on in stock.
HI, can't get a proper service return with this racquet, with a blocked return the ball sometimes flies a little far. Not you? It is true that the sensation at impact is more pleasant than the Ezone. Thanks.
I've settled on the poly tour rev as my string of choice as it allows me to feel the ball pocketing. It's easy on the arm and doesn't feel like a wooden board or wet noodle. I think lately Ben Shelton is using it in the Ezone. As for the Vcore, I'm a proud owner of the 95D. Slapped on the Rev, a leather grip with overgrip 5/6ths of the way up, and I'm just a gaudy pair of shorts away from cosplaying as Stan the Man. Tried the SV95 which I liked but was too unforgiving, the 2018 that surprisingly felt like a dud, and the 2023 version that was immediately comfortable to hit. Ended up getting the 2023 Vcore 100 because I needed more help from the racket.
How would you compare , performance and comfort wise the SV95 , to the 2023 VCore 95 , and which would you use ? Lastly what are the differences between the SV95 D vs. the VCore pro 97 , performance wise since the SV pros are not using the 97 ? This information would be useful .
I think the VCP97's flex are too soft for younger pros who seem to prefer the lower weight. Yonex doesn't seem to be interested in the older pro's (30+) who used soft racquets at heavy weights. Like I think Murray would use the VCP over anything else in the line, but that's only because he likes a heavy stick. I prefer almost everything about the new VC95. The only thing I like better about the SV is the raw feel, but the '23 VC feels connected enough to where its not a big deal for me.
@@TennCom I would not doubt that they would try to bring back the feel of your most liked racquets , but while it makes sence to focus on players in there teens and 20's professionally , the market does not stay there into retirment from the game , yet the youth does direct or gets manipulated . They do direct the continuation of the markets . Focusing on a greater performance for a racquet size , most professionally are not using in there 20's and teens , would seem counter to ones statement that they do not care . They care when they can make a good amount of sales and or profits from it , till they no longer can . They would not create a new mold unless they saw a future in the new head shape . 2024 will be a make or break for dunlop's cx 200 tour . They logically should work the string beds , and add spin grommeting with groove + features , but a 95 is questionable , since they have 98's to take there places . Personally while it makes sence for Dunlpp to go to a 98 , since they can not compete with Yonex in head shaping . A 97 would be nice to see , except that sizes keep going up while performance is lowered , as a crutch for players . This is why the Pro Staff v13 , from observational testing along with speaking to others , is the better performance version in which they will not be going back to for many years to come , as a retro technology , just like the version v14 went back too . End of an Era , racquet wise .
the main difference is that 95 feels faster and more precise but the 97 has much better stability, especially off centre. Feel and comfort are quite similar.
2018 is still my pick. The thick beam width of the 2023 version is really disappointing as the racquet doesn't quite cut through the air, and manouverability is severely compromised. The beam width should be 20mm straight all over the shaft and head, like it is in the Vcore Pros
When I hear an inveterate customizer say he enjoys playing a racquet in stock form, I take notice. I've never heard you speak this way about a sub-330-gram frame before. Seems I have to demo this 95 for myself...
Love my 2018 Vcore 95! Really excited to see this review of the 2023 95! To save my elbow I like using soft polys like YTEX QuadroTwist
This is arriving tomorrow. Haven’t been this excited about s racquet for years. Thanks for the great review

i love confidential in these new VCOREs too!
How much weight at 12?
I absolutely love, head hawk rough, using it for more than a year now. The ball bite is phenomenal
Ive actually got a set of that lying around so Ill try it! Thanks for the suggestion!

pretend you didnt watch this video
Does SV95 have a thinner beam? Maybe an internal crack/inconsistency contributes to such a feeling. Some people mentioned it is easy to crack on 10/2
Just picked up a cheap nearly unused 2018 95, getting restrung right now with Solinco confidential so I’ll have a bash tomorrow and see how it goes 🤙🤙

Enjoying Head Velocity MLT since I'm still a noob at tennis but it's nice and haven't had arm problems :D
Still rocking the 2018 Ver. and not really compelled to make a switch. I use it with PTP 18g lower tension 40ish range.
theres nothing like the '18, new Dunlop CX is close but not as solid feeling

Thank god i just bought a vcore 95 yesterday. 😁 glad to know i made a good choice. Bundled it up with a regna 98 v3. Got it from a reseller here in Indonesia. Please review the regna, u seemed to be a yonex fanboy now ❤
Ive always been a Yonex fan boy i just havent jived with their last couple of releases
Bought 2 vc95 and it didn’t disappoint! Wondering what do you think is the best string to pair with it?
I haven't tried many strings with it, but I liked Solinco Confidential most. If you hit flatter, I think Hawk Power would look cool and pair really well with the general feel of the VCOREs.
Hi Becket,
I’ve just bought 3xVCore 95 2023 so looking forward to dialing in my string choice for this stick; as an aside very keen to hear from anyone with good recommendations.
@@TennCom it’s interesting. I really like the soft feel of the VCore 95. Will be interested to see how a crisp string like Sniper works
how can i tell which year's version the racquet is
I have always been a prestige guy but tried this vcore 95 loved it. But am still using the prestige classic 😃
Do you use a grip size 3 with Yonex rackets?
Grapplesnake Alpha 17… before everyone thought it was cool ;)
Did you try luxilon alu power 125 in this frame?
I forgot to ask you if you tried leather grip in this frame and what did you think?
The '21 95 absolutely shredded my wrist for some reason (even with super soft polys like PT Air). Could have been for lots of different reasons - but I am so curious to hit this guy. 61 RA, right? Tempting...
It doesn't really play like a 61 RA frame. If I hadn't been told what the stiffness index was, I would have guessed 64-65.
Personally, I like hawk touch, I'm not a huge fan of shaped polys, so round ones are better for me.
@@TennCom and from the yonex Strings? Also thought about the Fire, but I dont know. And how hard would you recommend to put it on?
Is the stiffness different in a racket strung vs not strung?
usually strung is 2pts lower RA
What’s a good lively string to use in the 95?
I've been having a lot of fun with Head Hawk Power lately!
@@TennCom cool. I’ve tried the touch but will have to give the Power a go. Cheers
, im a player 4,5 to 5,0 id played vcore 95 a lot but game start becoming faster and told my self should go to 98 but they told me the new 95 was more permitting it felt like a 97 or so , so now im thinking if i go for 95 again becouse the new one is forgiving or go 98 , i do go plain strokes with power but my back hand sometimes gets short but the 98 will be less aerodynamic for that i think but more power. what do you think
The 98 is pretty launchy compared to the 95 so its not an easy transition. Going to something like an Extreme Tour or EZONE 98 will be more natural I think.
What is the D in the name of racquet?
Gamma LiveWire XP 17, why? Because I love my arms and elbows as well as spin and power.
My favourite string is Solinco Confidential
what string do you recommend Im a 12 y 2.0 utr.i have a blade 100l v8
Prince Syngut with duraflex at 50lbs
What strings would you recommend for this racket?
I actually really enjoying Confidential in these
Poly Tour Pro - Blue 17g or 18g ...42 to 45 lbs
I thought that Stan Wawrinka plays with Vcore 95D from 2015 instead of 2018?
Yonex Poly Tour Pro 18G
what what dampener is it?
Tourna Sampras O Damp
Apparently the current Vcore95 reacts best if you hit the ball ABOVE the 'sweet spot'. Since I hit lot of balls there this racquet should suit my 'shortcomings'. 🤔
It’s players that make the racket legendary, not the racket itself
I haven't found my right string yet, but I really liked toroline caviar and wasabi
I haven't found anything that works in the 98 for me either.
Hyper-G 19g @ 37lb
curious about you junior career mentioned on this video
i won a few tournaments in both singles and doubles but mostly lost to anyone serious.
Do you use a leather grip on it?
no i just used to 100% stock and it was great
Where is this indoor court? Is it in metro Vancouver?
winnipeg lol
@@TennCom that is indeed too far from me lool
@@TennCom do you recommend any indoor courts in Vancouver?
@@bdawgsohawt honestly I play outside all Winter as indoor tennis is cost prohibitive for me
@@TennCom That's dedication! Where do you play?
How do you compare the new vcore 95 to the new Head Radical MP?
the launch on the Radical is lower and spin is worse, put stability and power is better. The 95 has a way longer dwell time but the Radical feels more direct
@@TennCom Thanks! Of the Vcore 95 and Radical MP, which would you say is easier to play with?
why does Canada not carry the VCore 95s?
its possible that they are just out of stock.
Thanks.
I haven't have any problems on returns with this. Are you having a hard time making clean contact or is it just not working even on clean contact?
love the poly tour pro
I regret not buying those shorts more than I regret not buying the 95D
How would you compare , performance and comfort wise the SV95 , to the 2023 VCore 95 , and which would you use ?
Lastly what are the differences between the SV95 D vs. the VCore pro 97 , performance wise since the SV pros are not using the 97 ? This information would be useful .
Vcore pro 97 needs be a whole different line because it’s not like the rest of the vcore line.
Me here with my black sheep/red headed step child, Vcore Tour F 93.
How does the babolat pure strike vs compares to vcore 95?
the main difference is that 95 feels faster and more precise but the 97 has much better stability, especially off centre.
I need this stick. Oh yeah, I already have one. 😅
love you guys
Giron will dislike the video~
Joker is GOAT tho
