Zira's suicide, Scar's madness, Nuka's final words...
Damn Disney
Disney should be this way again. It is very pathetic now even with its new live action films... The Lion King is included.
Hey, The Jungle Book was pretty dark.

I have to be honest...
Scar's final laugh is chilling!

Zira's suicide, Scar's complete madness... Disney came up with some really dark endings. xD I really like them though, I wish that Disney would animate them and release an adult-edit film for us TLK fans who are now older.
They had a darker fate for Gaston in "Beauty and the Beast" as well. In the deleted proposal, Gaston would've survived the fall after stabbing the Beast in the back, but the wolves from earlier in the film would have shown up and killed him.
Dark stuff, man.
+Andrew Gardiner How is being eaten alive too dark for Gaston but perfectly fine for Scar, since he gotten by hyenas?
+MCHellshit Well my guess is scar is an animal and Gaston is a human
Feather have someone uploaded a video about Mufasa’s death? I mean storyboard
I agree with you
Scar's maniacal laughter while burning was a spine chiller! 😱
This is what Cletus Kasady is
I find this rather ironic to be honest. Scar tricks Simba into saving him, and throws him off of Pride Rock, thinking he's the one proper king. Then he is so busy reveling he dies a horrific death by the flames that consume Pride Rock, ignorant of the fact that he saved the nephew he tried to kill.
@Eren Jaeger
Boy that looked really painful Owwwwwww.
@Eren Jaeger
I know.
@Eren Jaeger
I was actually talking about the flames burning Scar to death as he laughs evillly and is unaware of it.
@Eren Jaeger
Yeah that's a pretty horrible way to die.
@Eren Jaeger
I wish they would Animate this so we can see everything clearer.
I think that this ending gives a better cap to Scar as a character than the final one. In this one we see Scar is completely consumed by madness and hubris as he believes himself to really be the proper ruler (if you watch all the deleted material, he doesn't understand why everyone hates him) and this just caps off all the madness he faced, and fleshes him out as a character to the bitter end, and makes him seem more rounded. A good villain never believes himself to be a villain, but a hero who has to take extremes to do the right thing, and Scar has elements of that.
The final ending is an ending that really just satisfies an audience thirst for revenge against him for being a backstabber, and while that's satisfying, this one makes him a more rounded character in his final moments.
+Davis Rojas you try too hard.
DjOdysseus Cartoons are written by adults and Disney movies are written to be appealing beyond children.
So I don't think I'm trying too hard to say why I think one ending is better than the other. If people can write essays on the brilliance of the Godfather, why is it too much to write about a movie about growing up and facing responsibilities?
Well, I kinda think Scar doesn't really care about his own morality. He more or less implies that with his "Are you no better than I? You're no murderer.". He's aware he's a terrible person... or lion, whatever. He just doesn't care.
No it’s a horrid ending as it gives scar the last laugh. Poetic justice is showing he was a talker and at the end he couldn’t talk anymore. He lost a fight to the superior lion and due to his talking his only ally’s turned on him and he couldn’t talk his way out of it.
@@dannyhuskerjay
To Be fair Scar's death in the actual version is better becoming Hyena Food for Shenzi Banzai Ed and their pack.
Simba doesn't die in this version, he ends up surviving his fall. You see him alive at the end. This ending is kind of cool and it does make Scar more badass. I liked the original better though. In this version Scar defeats Simba and he survives just by luck. Simba needed to defeat Scar himself.
Right, because that would've defeated the entire purpose of Simba going back to the Pridelands, challenging Scar, defeating him, and taking his place as king.
oh, I thought this proved that Simba was more fit as a king by forgiving and not dying of revenge overdouse or whatever happened in Hamlet.
Baka senpai
PS. I still love the movie ending.
I agree plus this scene doesn't have much of a fight
The concept that Scar think the he killed simba he was laughing because at least he managed to kill him while he is still getting burn alive
I think this is also appearent by the fact that scar survived the fall and only got killed by hyenas
Hearing Scar's crazed laughter while he's being consumed by the fire is chilling...
This ending is so dark, but it shows Scar becoming more insane, showing that he "killed" Simba and was happy to die thinking he did. Scar is my favourite and one of the darkest disney villains.
I want to see this animated.Someone did that with The Madness of King Scar.
Did you see the Madness of King Scar? The fan animated video here on UA-cam
@Reezy37 I really wish they had this ending in the live remake of the Lion King.
As opposed to the Live Action Lion King Remake being a by-the-numbers shot-for-shot remake.
Dynosoul with toon boom harmony for the animation!
@@dylansmith5206 I was also hoping the live action movie would have taken concepts from some of the deleted scenes.
I even thought maybe they would try doing Can You Feel differently and do it the way the alternative scene did it with only Simba and Nala singing, I love the way that version ends.
But alas, as you say, they stuck too close to making the scenes the exact same.
I've been alive for 38 years and this is still; imo, the darkest alternate ending to a Disney movie I've ever seen. Seriously. That laugh is just bone chilling. It would've made the film much darker if this scene made it into the final version
That wasn’t even Jeremy Iron imagine he did the laugh
Omg, this is brutal. It's Scar's laughter that makes this scene kind of creepy.

@@OfClownsAndCorvids
Yeah I'm glad they didn't use this ending in the final version it likely would've been so horrible and terrifying to see in the final version.
Especially when Scar is burned into a skeleton as he laughs evillly.
Idk why but the loud compressed music and audio along with the INCREDIBLY dark visuals legit unnerves me so much
I feel this is a more fitting ending than being killed by the hyenas. Scar earlier said he'd rather sentence everyone to death than leave Pride Rock. Well if he wants to hold onto a few giant stones so badly, then he can have it, along with the flames.
I think the reason Disney wanted to take this direction in the first place was to give another callback to Hamlet (Hence the blatant use of "Goodnight, Sweet Prince") since, in Hamlet, no-one survives. Hamlet's efforts and angst were wasted in the end, and this ending kind of takes the same direction.
I agree it's too dark for a children's film, but that isn't the main reason I prefer the ending they went with; It's because this ending almost makes it seem like Simba's efforts were wasted. Yes, he survived in the end, but just barely, and Scar had the last laugh instead of being delivered the justice he deserves. This old ending teaches that being merciful is a weakness that could cost you everything. The movie ending shows that, while it can be dangerous to show mercy, it is still a valuable trait to have as a leader and if mercy doesn't work, it is up to said leader to deliver the justice he knows must be served.
Just wanted to let you know, I love this post of yours -- so deep, hehe :)
But this ending also caps off Scar's character better. It gives him a just ending for someone consumed by madness, whereas in the new ending, it gives him the cliche death of karma by his own allies as a way to not have Simba kill him.
I also like that this ending doesn't actually reveal to Simba that Scar killed Mufasa until the last second, so that the moral of facing your past is not thrown away like it is in the final movie. (The whole "my little secret" scene. It ruined the message right there because Simba had nothing to really face, and he was only able to find the strength to fight back when he realized he wasn't guilty.)
I however, think that you have a point a bit about how the final ending does have a bit more of a better character arc than this one. I would like a compromise between the two that keeps the best qualities of both.
Dareigan That's more like real life, though. Life is hard, and being good can result in devastation and death. Hence either we have God who will make everything right at the end of time, and an afterlife where justice is established, or else there are many situations where justice will never be had.
I suppose these ideas are too profound for a children's movie, though, so it was good to shelve this ending. Better for a book than a children's film.
cloudsabove
First of all, my intentions are good, I hope I won't be misunderstood :p
Now, onto the things I wanted to "correct":
We make life harder, ourselves.
_Not_ being good can result in devastation and death. Being good should result in good things happening but ...we just make our life harder, as I said.
It's highly unlikely there's a God and, if most of us become responsible (by refraining from spending our lives waiting for a God to help us, among other ways), then many things would change for the better.
Dareigan Mercy very well CAN be a weakness in terms of presentation The naivete it presents can allow your enemy to get the better of you in the process; simply being "better" than your enemy can very well get you killed. Heck, you could argue that they show how mercy is a weakness in the final draft because even though Scar suffered a more karmic fate, it still allowed him to harm Simba and get the temporary drop on him.
Forgiveness and mercy are admirable qualities, but they need to be regulated so they don't end up harming the person who offers them. As unfortunate of a state as it might be, some people are simply too dangerous to be kept alive.
I just LOVE some of Scar's lines that reek of manipulation such as, "Are you no better than I? You're no murderer, Simba!" basically meaning, "If you don't save me, you'll be a purposeful murderer too. You KNOW deep down you're a Good Guy. " Just really shows how quick an abuser IRL will switch up and try to play the victim the second they're confronted. I believe some parts of this ending should have been in the final 🧡
That's the perfect analogy
Simba broke his fall by landing on a tree and made a narrow escape.
Ok. For those who didn't understand since the animation is a bit wonky. Scar grabs Simba and throws him over the edge. However Simba survives the fall and Scar is engulfed in the flames that are covering pride rock.
I find it rather odd that it's not OK to let the fire consume Scar, but it's totally fine to let Frollo fall into a pool of molten copper. Or let Clayton be hanged by a vine. Even Ursula's death was more graphic and that was years before. The way Scar dies in the final version is making him look like a complete pushover that was never a threat to begin with.
+ZealSeraph Most villains usually aren't pushovers, but they generally aren't capable of fighting an entire army of their own minions.
+ZealSeraph I actually think it's quite fitting the way it happened in the movie. It doesn't show he's a pushover, it shows he's a bully and a coward and in the end was destroyed by those he used and manipulated into doing his bidding.
kuabci Except in the original deleted scenes he doesn't understand why he is hated, and this ending is better. He thinks that he's a "hero" that has to take extremes, and is clearly mentally unstable. This ending fits much better, as his descent into madness from "beating" Simba killed him in the end.
The animals Scar used to secure his rise to the throne, eventually lead to his death. At least, that's the way I saw it
That was... actually quite brilliant.
Loved the "Good night, sweet prince." Twas classy.
This movie had me crying when I was little.
To be honest, every old-school Disney movie was traumatic and I still to this day haven't rewatched the Lion King, Little Mermaid, Fox and the Hound, etc.
Mejor que ver la basura que saca ahora disney
Everyone is saying Simba lost but knowing Scar was killed by the flames and seeing Simba still alive waking up Nala at the very ending if this scene makes me feel like Simba still won. I looked up the script for this and read that a tree at the bottom of the cliff and on the ground cushioned Simbas fall.
Interesting take on the scene. I honestly can't decide which version I like more. Scar being engulfed in flames does seem like a more dramatic death, but the Hyaenas getting revenge was sort of more fitting.
Really I like the ending that they chose to go with for the movie. This one is great and all, but I like the ending where Simba walks up pride rock. That always gave chills up my spine when I was a kid.
1:19 1:09 that’s a bit creepy
wow that's pretty dark. interesting but dark
And Scar getting mauled and eaten alive by hyenas is not
Feels Man good point, at the same time I like the released version better. I find it easier to understand and it allows for the characters to grow even further into their assigned future roles
i wood hate simba dying scar dying is ok
nick palmeri simba still survives in this version. what happens is scar wins the fight but while he is gloating in his victory the flames consuming pride rock kill him as well. since simba was tossed off of pride rock he ended up surviving and becomes king. A pretty sour victory if you ask me and a hard moral to swallow.
rigth but i like that simba wins it shows that good stroger than evil
I realize this could also in a sense explain why in the cartoon Lion Guard he was a fiery lava spirit
Since some seem confused which is understandable given the difficult to see moments in the storyboard animation, watch more closely. That is Simba who bends to caress an injured lioness, he lives here too. Agreed that this would have been a far better way for Scar to go out, killed in his own victory. Though most of us wouldn't have been able to appreciate that when the film was released having been children as is the target audience, as an adult I find something darkly poetic about that.
was that nala or sarabi?(i almost said wassabi)
Nancy Seiff It's not clear, but since we see Scar attack Sarabi it's likely her despite her having recovered by the time he gets Simba to confess to be responsible for Mufasa. Who knows however what alterations this version of the story had.
I can definitely see why they would use this for the original ending what with the Lion King being an appropriation of Hamlet. This storyboard is about the closest you could get to the ending of hamlet in a Disney Movie
Trafalgar Law Agreed not to mention this is Disney we are talking about and until the recent 'Tangled' (Flynn technically died for about a minute, he even opens the story by saying so) this is among the closest they'd ever get to killing a protagonist.
Honestly, I’m glad he didn’t die this way. His death would have been completely unsatisfying since he’s dying while LAUGHING. What we got was much better.
This is such a dark ending....I love it!
1:10 Oh my god that scream is terrifying.
Love this ending only because Scar will always be my favorite Disney villain. It does show his insanity at an extreme level however, when most of the time he just seems cool and laid back.
It sounds good in concept, but this would have been a horrible ending. I mean, Scar technically doesn't win, because he didn't kill Simba. He would just die because of stupidity, and Simba would pull a John Cena and come out alive? Then he goes to his mother, "You're alive how can this be?" and then what happens? It would make little sense.
The tree broke his fall.
@@Gernam12
And the way Scar is burned to death as he laughs evillly just imagine if he realized he was getting burned to death and screams in a pained shrieking voice as he's burned alive.
I bet that would've been a horrible but epic and awesome scream.
Simba wasn't a coward. He was merciful.
...Oh, so THAT’S why his henchmen are a bunch of hyenas. He’s laughing in his final moments.
This ending is way more Game Of Thrones
Especially after seeing the final episode.

To me Scar getting eaten by the hyenas is more enjoyable and satisfying.
@@katelynthewhitewerewolf6376 It surely is.
By this point, he destroyed the pridelands, and wasn't even treating the hyenas right ("We ain't got no stinking entrees!") betraying "You'll never go hungry again!"
And he threw them under the bus in the end.
Fitting they finished him off.
Game of thrones was trash
Well this Ending is more terrifying then it looks
I feel like all of Scar's lies finally catching up with him in the end was a more fitting end to his character
Yeah for sure bro
I like this ending, 'cause it's dramatic, but I'm confused as to why Scar doesn't run when he sees the flames, and, if he didn't see them, why he didn't scream in pain or something when they got him.
He was too caught up in the moment to notice.
He’s too insane at that point, he doesn’t care if he’s gonna die, what he cares about is if Simba is dead
Because they didn't want to make it THAT dark. Hearing him screaming while he's being burnt alive is a little too much
Would you imagine me getting thrown off a tall rock and into the fire that would be a very bad nightmare for me
they're right you know. It even shows at the end that Simba did fall into a tree, then he fell onto the ground. It wasn't simba dead on the ground, it was Sarabi, and even then, Sarabi did not die, She merely waiting from Scar's attack. THis is the part of the movie where Simba would have been on the ledge, like Mufasa, and then came to realization. In the end of the movie, Simba still would have won and regained the pridelands. Simba still lived, and Scar died, so he took back the throne. :3
This is...whoa. Amazing. Love the Hamlet reference; "Good night, sweet Prince". Oh, I wish that had been kept. Well, honestly, I wish the hold ending was kept; the fire sequence, Simba's hesitation, Scar noting the difference between them...although I think, as a kid, the laughing at the end would've scared me like crazy. o.o
But, still, awesome. Must add to favorites!
Damn. That...that was quite dark.
That would have been one hell of a way to die.
The final shot of your villain maniacally laughing, thinking he's finally completed his long lasting dream as the fire of Pride Rock literally engulfs him, but he's so happy.. so insane.. so crazily delighted that the face of death only makes him laugh. He's so blinded by the fact that Simba is "dead" that he doesn't even mind the flames. He''s just so happy that he was able to rule Pride Rock for when he could, and completing his goal of ending his nephew's life.
Talk about badass.. now imagine if that made it into the film.
To be honest, I think they could’ve used that ending in the 2019 remake.
Although I love the used ending I really like this one to.
It really shows Scars true evilness, and evil in generall. He is not a cowerd begging for mercy, but instead laughing as the king of the hill - not bothering about being engulfed by the flames.
It's kind of the ending in the hunchback of notre dame: Frollo are close to kill Esmeralda and Quasimodo, but die due to his own evilness (the gargoyle turning alive were supposed to respresent satan, taking Frollo down to hell).
That's what could happening if Scar never blame the hyenas.
scars evil laugh scared me
I have created another alternate ending:
Scar decided to listen to Simba & run away & never return, but just like Scar sent the hyenas to try to kill Simba as a cub after killing Mufasa, Simba decides to send, not the hyenas, but the LIONESSES to kill Scar!! Scar looks back & sees the angry lionesses chasing him & he runs into the hyenas. Scar begs the hyenas to protect him, but just like in the final film, Shenzi reminded him that he called her & her clan "the enemy" & they proceed to eat him. Scar is completely trapped by both the hyenas on one side & the lionesses on the other. The lionesses Sarabi & Nala step forward & unleashed their anger on Scar for killing Sarabi's mate, blaming it on her son when he was a cub & forced them & the other lionesses to overhunt. After all is said & done, Scar gets killed by both the hyenas & the lionesses!!!!
I feel like when I saw this in theatres as a kid, this is what I saw. I remember being actually surprised when I watched this at home for the first time. Even today I feel like what I saw in theatres was different.
That happened a lot in the 90s 💯 The theaters would play different versions of the same movie than the ones you see on vhs.
The problem I had with this version is that this never really fitted scar's character, What made the actual scene so powerful was that it was simba fighting for the right to be king, and to dethrone the usurper scar, when he throws scar off the cliff he defeated him and earned his right to be king. as well scar never struck me to do this, he's a coward and opportunist, he wanted to live, not to die, This does show scar's insanity but I don't think it would have made the scene or film what it was
That music at the end... *bursts into tears*
Disney should took this ending but by a mirical samba lives and scar while laughing catches on fire with the hyana's. I wanted to see those creepy little basterds die anyway.
"Samba" ._____. ?
I'm not the best speller out there ok
teamrandom21
its still weird and funny
alypkm did somebody say ZAMBA!!!!
In this version, he did survive. I think that is why there is male lion in the end. But getting eaten by hyenas was kinda epic too.
I'm kind of glad they scrapped this and went on to the final ending. It just doesn't feel as satisfying seeing Simba getting thrown off the cliff and Scar getting killed by the fire.
Getting killed by his own henchmen was far more satisfying and fitting.
I agree. Scar did promise the hyenas they would never go hungry again when he took over the Pride Lands. But when he did take over, the hyenas hardly got any food. And when Simba confronted Scar, he attempted to blame the hyenas and pin Mufasa's death on them. Is it any wonder they decided to eat him in the end?
Yeah! Scar getting killed by his own henchmen! That just shows that Karma can be a b****!
And he ironically ate his own words "You'll never go hungry again!"
Ed Regis very good point, I just like scar better I guess.
Ed Regis actually, when the hyenas came under scar's rule, they terrorized the pridelands as if the animals and plants were one large dinner feast. when the damage was done and the surviving herds fled, that's when scar's inability as a leader kicked in and the hyenas were left starving again. scar did promise them food and they got it, but for a short time.
@@ivantheterrible2594
The lions also starved too.
I like the final ending better Scar getting eaten by Shenzi and her pack is more satisfying.

@BlazeIgnitus Nah, he doesn't die, just gets severely burned from the fire.
He loses the battle to Scar and Scar burns to death.
This gives me goosebumps.
Man, that would have been the perfect way to end Scar. Too bad it had to be rated G. :(
+harryc657 i'm glad that change it the new shows simba winning
I would have liked it to be animated for a anniversary thing for lion king like they did with madness of king scar but I know the storyboard said "showing scar burn alive"but why not just the flames in the front just cover up scar so we don't see him burn alive wat a thing to see :/
This is definitely an interesting cut scene.
But I can see why it was cut, Simba was not given a fair fight.
I prefer the ending they went with. I did like the "goodnight sweet prince" quote used here though.
Wow, this Alternate Ending, terrified me!!!😱😱😱😱
Both endings are equally as fucked up.
I can see why this was made this way, the fire kind of symbolizes Scar's madness engulfing him.
And I see where they were trying to stay true to the Hamlet storyline, especially when using the quote "Good night, sweet prince"
Wow. That's a really dark ending. I can see why they changed it. o.o
But then again, we see a similar scenario happen in the sequel with Kiara and Zira, so they sorta re-used this ending. XD
You guys watch again simba does live cause he falls in that tree that's him in the final scene looking at that lion on the ground.... cmon pay attention
I don't see it when he feel in a tree what part is it at?
That's Simba. He survived the fall. Scar got burned to ashes. Simba's looking at Nala (or probably Sarabi), who is alive.
If you pause at 1:17 Simba actually fell didn't die by flames and you can see the blood around Simba, disturbing as heck Disney has issues
HOLY SH!T!!!! SCAR’S LAUGH IS SO CHILLING AND SCARY!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Now imagine Jeremy irons doing that laugh. You’ve got yourself one of if not THE greatest villain’s death EVER
*For The Watch*
This alternate sequence would have put a real bit on irony to the movie: The villain defeats the hero, BUT HE STILL LOSES I think its supposed to be somewhat symbolic, as it shows a tyrant who basically does whatever he wants instead of actually tending to the kingdom he just justice is doomed to failure anyway, either at the hands of an usurper or by his own hubris biting him in the ass.
It's easy to say in hindsight, but...
I would have liked to see a slightly different, slightly more serious version of The Lion King.
The first version it's the one everyone knows.
The makers don't forget the older ideas, they just put them aside and release another version soon. There are some songs here too, but it's clearly not for little kids.
1: Mufasa's death is much more heartbreaking (that's all the makers have revealed about the early version of the scene, who knows what it would have been like).
2: Scar raises Simba after his father's death, so it will hurt the "young prince" even more when he learns the truth.
3: Scar wants Nala to be his queen.
4: This is how the final battle end.
It feels kinda scarier with the fact it was in 1993, in storyboard form, and also in a 35mm reel. Almost like a creepypasta.
Yeah there’s something creepy about old low quality videos
This ending is much more darker for me
The good news: Simba still wins.
Disney was responsible for 90% of my nightmares as a kid.
Yeah, I prefer the ending they went with. Mostly because Scar didn't pull a stupid move like he did here, and, of course, the Hyenas.
Sooo scar defeats simba but scar dies anyway
I can't tell which ending for scar is more fucked up, scar getting gobbled up alive by a pack of hyenas or getting consumed by fire.
Cobra Queen actually The final ending is combined he gets slaughtered by hyena’s and burned alive soo the final ending is more fucked up
Sweet... Even the 'Good night, sweet Prince' line thrown in! Awesome.
Scar died like a badass on this one.
Wow, this would have been such an epic ending.
This was not as gruesome as I thought it would've been. Like I thought it would have been more gruesome like Scar is burning into a skeleton or something like that but I still liked it and plus it would not make sense that SImba dies even if its an alternate ending because then whose the Lion King? Is it Mufasa? No he was king but he died. Would it be Simba? If he did die then no, because the winner even when he's laughing towards his death would be the last lion standing.
plus, I love Scar's Laughter and the music that went with it!
Not one of those people that always want the bad guy to win and have a unhappy ending. In this ending, Scar gets the last laugh even if he dies. Not very fulfilling. If he turned out to be an actual effectual ruler, then it would make sense.
In the final, his lies and backstabbing catch up with him, and his defeat and death sums up his rule as a shit king.
Just a nightmare for me..... it's good that they changed the ending....
Yeah if I had that happen to me that would be a bad nightmare
...i wanna see this in the real film, i would have much rather seen this because i dont like all the happy endings. and just hearing scar laughing as the flames engulf him sent chills up my spine.
This one is good but kind of dark. I can see why they had to change it.
I'm glad they changed it to the final version, but this is interesting.
I'm guessing that was to portray Scar being insane and deranged (or even satanic). Admittedly it had a pretty scary/creepy effect.
Omg! I'm glad that they cut this out
This ending is more badass.
Yeah would you imagine me getting thrown off a tall rock and into the flames that would be a bad nightmare for me
