Without a doubt it was a cool film, but I believe that if the animals had been more expressive and made better use of the extra half hour, which is nothing more than the same scenes, but prolonged, or the addition that doesn't add anything to the plot, the film would have been perfect

As far as the original is concerned with him just not even bothering I’m not certain which one fits him better but I lean slightly towards the remake. You could say in the original it fits with him being clever and realizing there was no point, that he knew he had no chance of escaping and to allow them to kill him as quickly as possible so he wouldn’t suffer nearly as much but I do think it’s more feasible that he wouldn’t just give up.

The realisation that he's going to be eaten alive, following by the desperation in his eyes is something I can never forget. The only slow and agonising death in Disney history... masterpiece. 0:18 the look on Scar's face made it quite clear that he screwed up big time and he was about to die at the hands of his minions (he blamed them for Mufusa'a death when Scar was mostly the one responsible for his brother's death). Even though some villians aren't always bad but Scar and Darth Sidious (the sith lord from star wars) are 2 villians who both had nothing but pure evil in their hearts and couldn't be saved.
You know the first old original of The Lion King Movie that Scar had tried to begged The Hyenas not to kill him or eat him. And while the new The Lion King Movie was Scar had tried to fight The Hyenas so he can get out of alive by The Hyenas but sadly The Hyenas kill and eat Scar anyways. If I learned one thing about Scar's death, it is that you should never make a promise that you can't keep otherwise, it will come back to haunt you in the future especially if you planned to betray that person and they overhear it.

The way I see it is the hyena aren't "evil". At the beginning, the hyenas just didn't like Simba coming into their home and talking all big. (They even stated hyenas and lions have always fought, and they didn't like the king for that reason.) But Scar's deal to never let them go hungry led them to help kill Mufasa, but Scar lied then blame them. Otherwise, they wouldn't have participated in all that. They actually wanted to eat Scar at first.
The Hyenas are pragmatists, they aren't evil and have always upheld the rivalry between Lions and Hyenas. Had Scar not convinced them in the deal to never let them go hungry again, they might've just killed Scar there. It was inevitable they'd turn, they outlived eachother's usefulness after Mufasa died.
I find the second one darker - the first one it could have just been the hyenas killing Scar as payback for his betrayal, not necessarily to eat him, but the second one shows they definitely did!

I like to think of this as a reality check, as the lions generally view hyenas as scavengers due to how baron their land (the Elephant Graveyard) is, but Scar learns that the angry hyenas aren't full-on scavengers... they're predators.

Scar deserved to die for many reasons 1: He murdered Mufusa just to take the throne 2: He blamed Simba for Mufusa's death and tried to kill him (both failed as Simba got away from the hyenas and he learned the cold hearted truth years later) 3: He assaulted Sarabi because her hunting party weren't doing their job and he didn't care if anyone was gonna die or not (mainly because the pride lands were desecrated and there was no food nor water and the herds had to leave) 4: He blamed the hyenas for murdering Mufusa (he only did it to save his own skin) but this backfired on him when they killed him.

I research how many numbers of Hyenas is needed to take down or kill a 1 fully-grown male Lion and I saw a lot of articles saying it needs only 9-10 Hyenas to kill a Lion. And watching this last scene that has more than 10 Hyenas is too much for Scar. Edited since the 4-5 Hyenas is for a Lioness

Tbc, it would've been better if the hyenas attacks Scar because he didn't win and they won't get to overhunt anymore I've always kind of found it dumb that they get mad at Scar for saying it was "Their idea". Scar was manipulative and the truth was he didn't care about the Hyenas and only saw them as a tool. Eventually the Hyenas saw that Scar was trying to use them as a scapegoat, and they quickly realized the truth. Also, at that time the Hyenas were starving and weren't getting any food after Scar took over.
Most likely they eventuwlly would have because he promised to never let them go hungry again but lied about it when he did nothing but be lazy and lying around once becoming king
What's crazy is if Scar had JUST ONE other full grown, male lion to help him, he could easily have lived to see another day, if not squad-wiping the hyenas. That just goes to show how much Scar did himself in.
I cringe when I see the hyenas jump on Scar in the remake film. This one seemed to be more frightening than the original. That bloodcurdling painful scream from Scar is kind of horrifying to hear.
Scar always had one of the most brutal Disney Villain deaths; torn apart and eaten alive by starving hyenas. The 2019 version though is the most brutal, as it wasn't off screen you see the struggle.
Here’s a not so fun fact about hyenas, courtesy of Casual Geographic. When attacking prey, hyenas will typically run down their prey, sometimes running several miles in the process. Once the hyenas catch up with the prey, one of the first things they do is bite the limbs of the prey (something that the hyenas can be seen, very briefly of course, doing to Scar in the 2019 live action version of the Lion King) This is so the prey crumples to the ground faster. Hyenas will also go for the walnuts of the prey if the prey happens to be male. After the walnuts are removed (and possibly eaten) the hyenas will literally disembowel the prey alive, ripping out the organs. This of course is fatal, with the prey animal dying of either shock, massive blood loss, or both. Thank goodness the camera pans up and away from the hyenas as they tear Scar to pieces. If it hadn’t, the Lion King would definitely be rated PG 13.

Say what you want about the 2019 in real life remake, but Scar’s death scene is actually an improvement over the original. Unlike the original, where he begs the hyenas for mercy, here he actually fights for his life. Sure, he was eventually killed, but he still proved to be a tough fighter.

And if you listen out for it, you can hear his screams of pain, despair and agony.
If I learned one thing about Scar's death, it is that you should never make a promise that you can't keep otherwise, it will come back to haunt you in the future especially if you planned to betray that person and they overhear it.

They weren't trying to attack Mufasa they were defending themselves and I like how Mufasa says Shenzi's name in this version it's proven here that he knew her at one point.
The live action version did it way better. We were actually able to see the hyenas jump on him before killing him, and scar actually fought back!

The way I see it is the hyena aren't "evil". At the beginning, the hyenas just didn't like Simba coming into their home and talking all big. (They even stated hyenas and lions have always fought, and they didn't like the king for that reason.) But Scar's deal to never let them go hungry led them to help kill Mufasa, but Scar lied then blame them. Otherwise, they wouldn't have participated in all that. They actually wanted to eat Scar at first.
The Hyenas are pragmatists, they aren't evil and have always upheld the rivalry between Lions and Hyenas. Had Scar not convinced them in the deal to never let them go hungry again, they might've just killed Scar there. It was inevitable they'd turn, they outlived eachother's usefulness after Mufasa died.

I like to think of this as a reality check, as the lions generally view hyenas as scavengers due to how baron their land (the Elephant Graveyard) is, but Scar learns that the angry hyenas aren't full-on scavengers... they're predators.

1: He murdered Mufusa just to take the throne
2: He blamed Simba for Mufusa's death and tried to kill him (both failed as Simba got away from the hyenas and he learned the cold hearted truth years later)
3: He assaulted Sarabi because her hunting party weren't doing their job and he didn't care if anyone was gonna die or not (mainly because the pride lands were desecrated and there was no food nor water and the herds had to leave)
4: He blamed the hyenas for murdering Mufusa (he only did it to save his own skin) but this backfired on him when they killed him.

I've always kind of found it dumb that they get mad at Scar for saying it was "Their idea". Because obviously he was trying to fool Simba. It makes you wonder if Scar managed to defeat Simba, would the hyenas still kill him
Scar was manipulative and the truth was he didn't care about the Hyenas and only saw them as a tool.
Eventually the Hyenas saw that Scar was trying to use them as a scapegoat, and they quickly realized the truth.
Also, at that time the Hyenas were starving and weren't getting any food after Scar took over.
Most likely they eventuwlly would have because he promised to never let them go hungry again but lied about it when he did nothing but be lazy and lying around once becoming king

Scar always had one of the most brutal Disney Villain deaths; torn apart and eaten alive by starving hyenas. The 2019 version though is the most brutal, as it wasn't off screen you see the struggle.
Here’s a not so fun fact about hyenas, courtesy of Casual Geographic. When attacking prey, hyenas will typically run down their prey, sometimes running several miles in the process. Once the hyenas catch up with the prey, one of the first things they do is bite the limbs of the prey (something that the hyenas can be seen, very briefly of course, doing to Scar in the 2019 live action version of the Lion King) This is so the prey crumples to the ground faster. Hyenas will also go for the walnuts of the prey if the prey happens to be male. After the walnuts are removed (and possibly eaten) the hyenas will literally disembowel the prey alive, ripping out the organs. This of course is fatal, with the prey animal dying of either shock, massive blood loss, or both. Thank goodness the camera pans up and away from the hyenas as they tear Scar to pieces. If it hadn’t, the Lion King would definitely be rated PG 13.

As much as the remake sucked, I gotta admit that Scar going down swinging is pretty badass!
Say what you want about the 2019 in real life remake, but Scar’s death scene is actually an improvement over the original. Unlike the original, where he begs the hyenas for mercy, here he actually fights for his life. Sure, he was eventually killed, but he still proved to be a tough fighter.
The cartoon version more feels like they had a couple minutes left so they just wrote the scene to fill in the gap, you know what I’m saying?
