@@dylangeltzeiler946 The ending we got was a lot more poetic. It would have been his punishment had his crimes against members of the nobility been exposed
This wouldn't have been a bad final battle, but I agree that the one they used it better. Tarzan was raised by apes, so it makes more sense for him to fight in the trees than in/on the water.
I find the one from the movie to be more haunting but I really like how active Jane was during all this. Her trying to hang onto Kala made me so anxious but you could definitely feel the urgency/being in her shoes.
I like the 'active' Jane is this too. But Tarzan legit kills two people then tells Clayton he's not a killer like him him. It lacks so much logic which isn't really made up for by Jane being active.
0:20 - In fact, Tarzan killed Clayton's thugs. 2:46 - He refused to kill Clayton, with the words "I'm not like you." WTF. It's good that Disney fixed it in the final version.
I always thought it would’ve been cool if Sabor had survived the fight with Tarzan. Then at the climax where Clayton has Tarzan cornered on the tree with a gun pointed at him, Sabor pounces and kills the hunter. Then parts ways with Tarzan after a respectful stare-off
I’m not suggesting that she should be suddenly made a good guy, or excused for any of her actions (some of you need to um..chill out, lol) But, she’s a predator. She’s one of the most non-anthropomorphised Disney animals. Her base instinct is to kill. She kills Tarzans parents, sure, but they showed up on her jungle, and presumably started cutting down a bunch of trees to build a big old house (from what they couldn’t salvage from the ship). I’m not saying it was justified, but it’s not exactly like, a great evil. And there’s no evidence that she killed them or Kala’s baby for anything other than food. Sabor symbolises the broad idea of the Dangers of the Jungle, and in killing her, Tarzan proves himself to the gorillas, especially Kerchack. But I think it would be a stronger message if Tarzan fights her, wins, but then intentionally lets her go. He’s still proven himself to the gorillas, but he’s shown compassion for even the thing who took his parents from him (without him knowing). Tarzan as a movie is about ‘Being a man’ and what that means, and it ends up being about having empathy and compassion, and not just physical strength and machismo like Clayton. When presented with Clayton’s idea of what ‘being a man’ is and shooting him, Tarzan rejects it, and even tries to save him from the vines. Let’s say he decides not to shoot Clayton like he does in the movie, even after Clayton shoots Kerchack. Because of this moment of mercy, Clayton does the predictable evil thing and tries to kill Tarzan, and that’s when Sabor attacks him. It’s payback for him sparing, so it’s his empathy and the power of compassion or whatever that’s saved his life, and now her and Tarzan are even and can go back to being respectful enemies. He’s not conquering the metaphorical jungle, but instead choosing to have empathy and coexist with it, fangs and all Functionally, this is the same ending as the one in the movie. Clayton takes advantage of Tarzan’s mercy, tries to exploit it, and is killed by the metaphorical incarnation of the jungle (being strangled by the vines), but I think sparing Sabor and having her be the one to do it makes for a more powerful character arc. Plus being disemboweled by a leopard is way more gruesome
This ending is really intense, it reminds me of the new Legend of Tarzan movie, with the boat and the crocodiles. The dialogue is great, the fight is to great, and Jane's involvement with all of it enchances the scene more. Like to this!
Holy Shit! Jane doesn't fuck around as she wasn't the damsel in distress to mess with and Clayton's death is very intense! He died as he exploded (Probably drowned) and his ship is destroyed.
She’s not in the final movie either, it’s just that at the beginning nothing could ever expect her to be chased by baboons and barley got some basic training from Tarzan as compared to him that literally was raised his whole life in the jungle
Very interesting take, but the final released version is way more narrowed down and striking. I do think the gatling gun was far too overkill (pun intended). It was also a false demonstration of Clayton's true character, in that in this one he blamed Tarzan for being a savage if he killed him, but in the final release he told Tarzan that killing him would make him a man.
I think the original Tarzan movie was a little bit darker (the dad's death in the opening, the monkeys almost drowning here), but... Clayton's death in the final was pretty dark and brutal.
Damn. Just imagine how drastically different the animated film would've been had the developers chosen this ending. This would definitely fit a grittier and darker version of the movie if there were plans to make one.
Disney had so many alternate ideas for how their films would’ve played out, especially during the Renaissance, but this takes the cake for being especially brutal.
The original ending was dark too with vines but this is badass Rambo Shit and dark but this is the way most live action movie villians like in Rambo or some other action movies end up like that holy f... i loved this movie as a kid and it was and still is awsome but i didn,t know that they wanted to go Rambo style at the end a mean muchine gun FTW lol
I thought they could combine the alternate scene and the final cut scene. After the riverboat moves out of control from the fight, it approaches a waterfall and Clayton manages to grab onto a branch before the boat goes over the ledge. Then he chases Tarzan up in the trees, and Tarzan manages to grab the gun, and then, "Not a man like you" he says, and disposes of the gun. Clayton then chases Tarzan with his machete. Tarzan faces a dead end by being at the edge of a branch that is over a very high cliff. Clayton says, "You are trapped, Ape Man! No one can outrun William Cecil Clayton!" He walks onto the branch to deliver the final blow. Tarzan tries telling him not to move, because the branch cannot support their combined weight, but Clayton wouldn't listen. As Clayton anticipates to slash, the branch BREAKS and both men fall. Tarzan grabs on to a vine, but Clayton disappears.
Well, from the final gunshot in the end after the explosion (or maybe it's just another barrel exploding, which seems unlikely), to me, it sounded like Clayton committed suicide. Gave up on his attempts to hunt down Tarzan and decided to point the gun to his mouth and used the last bullet to end his life. Eh, just my thoughts.
Does Clayton dying in boat mean Kerchak staying alive? If only Jane’s mother and Kerchak and Kala’s baby were alive, this would be real happy ending of ”Tarzan”, with Clayton and Sabor dead. Also, if boat exploded, Jane and Professor Porter can’t return to England. When Clayton dies in jungle, boats are still intact -> Jane says goodbye to Tarzan = I hate seeing Jane upset 😫! But when he (Clayton) dies in boat, there is no boat left = they can’t return to E anyway = Jane is not saying goodbye to Tarzan = Jane is not upset -> perfect ending. Then it would go like final version of Tarzan; Jane is accepted to herd, and then, Tarzan and Jane are seen sliding on branches and swinging in lianas, with ”Two Worlds” playing in background, but, lyrics are changed. So it should go like this: ”Raise your head up, lift high the load Take strength from those that need you Build high the walls, build strong the beams A new life is waiting, now, danger is stranger here”, and then Terk would kept her balance and not fall off-screen, and Tarzan would yell. Then, the end credits would start, with ”You’ll Be in My Heart” playing. Please, reply me, what you think about this ending!

It's disturbing on how Clayton decides to kill himself in the end of this clip since there's also that last gunshot in the end. But the way he died in the final Tarzan movie was still more disturbing. I don't know, it depends I guess.
In my opinion clayton's demise in the finished film is much better. Mostly for how symbolic it is; By being hung from a jungle vine it symbolizes that Clayton was executed for breaking the law of the jungle.

"You chose to be an animal. Now die like one." That has got to be one of the most realistic villain lines I've ever heard. It's scary....
