This was considered to dark for kids. That's why her suicide was deleted and replaced with her trying to reach for Kiara's paw but slipping and falling to her death. I still think it would have been pretty awesome if they kept it in the actual film. That's just my opinion. It adds to her character and it's something she would do considering how faithful she is to Scar.

This movie could have been 5 times better if they kept the damn scene in the film. It makes Zira MEMORABLE. Sure she’s terrifying but she never had the 1 scene to make her stand out. When I watched the FINAL version of Zira's death, I felt that something was wrong with two of the scenes coming straight after each other (a shocked Kiara and a smiling Zira falling to her death)... they kinda lacked a transition, it looked like the beginning of Zira's last moments were cut off! Am I the only one who got that feeling while watching Zira's death?
If this was in the final product then this would be the darkest sequel Disney has ever made. I guess if they added this to the final product then this film would have recieved a PG or R rating.

They should have kept this in the film. Because it teaches children that sometimes bad people will choose darkness ultimately and that not everyone can be saved no matter how hard you try. It would of tied well to the scenes of the movie cause it can ultimately teach the moral that yes you can save some who were raised in hell but not everybody in darkness will choose light

I just realized this scene serves as an ironic comparison to Mufasa's death. Mufasa sought help from Scar, only to be thrown to his death. Zira refused help from Kiara, and allowed herself to fall to her death. Double irony is that its Kiara in Scar's position.
I guess they didn't want to keep this in, not only because it was too dark, but because they wanted Zira to at least partly accept Kiara's help -- she tries to reach for her but slips in the movie, like XyKP1fan said -- it makes Zira look like she's forgiven them and is ready to start fresh but it was too late, rather than she remained bitter and hateful until the end. But I agree -- this makes a lot more sense for her character, but I guess it was too... I dunno... *hopeless*.
Because she was an abusive parent and she was going to kill them too however she attacked Simba first since he's the source of her hate she fails to do so however because Kiara leaps in to defend her father at the last second

They should have kept this in the film. Because it teaches children that sometimes bad people will choose darkness ultimately and that not everyone can be saved no matter how hard you try. It would of tied well to the scenes of the movie cause it can ultimately teach the moral that yes you can save some who were raised in hell but not everybody in darkness will choose light

I just realized this scene serves as an ironic comparison to Mufasa's death.
Mufasa sought help from Scar, only to be thrown to his death.
Zira refused help from Kiara, and allowed herself to fall to her death.
Double irony is that its Kiara in Scar's position.

Just like you, I don't think someone as pure as Kiara is going to forget this scene for years to come. Let us hope she never fully understands it.
I guess they didn't want to keep this in, not only because it was too dark, but because they wanted Zira to at least partly accept Kiara's help -- she tries to reach for her but slips in the movie, like XyKP1fan said -- it makes Zira look like she's forgiven them and is ready to start fresh but it was too late, rather than she remained bitter and hateful until the end. But I agree -- this makes a lot more sense for her character, but I guess it was too... I dunno... *hopeless*.

I can't tell if Zira is smiling or screaming
She was smiling when she fell because I think the creators forgot to reanimate her face because it was supposed to be a look of fear (maybe or possibly) but instead, it looked like they kept the smiling (ig not on purpose but probably by accident).
But this scene DEFINITELY shows us why she smiled as she fell because it shows that Zira chose be with Scar in death since he was her idol and worshipped him all the way.

I kinda prefer the final version of Zira's death better as this feels more fitting for a Creepypasta Story.

But don't worry, he won't hurt the real people. He just needed to get his frustrations out of his chest in order not to.

@PinkMasamune Actually, both are kind of bad but they show murder because it's easier to explain to kids why Nuka had to die/ended up dead as opposed to "why did Zira threw herself at the river".
