I'm a new fan here. This is amazing!
you deserve it, this cover is just wonderfull !
you deserve it. amazing voice from a beautiful woman
I was listening to this when my wife asked me to go borrow a couple eggs from our neighbor…long story short, I have expanded our lands, and our neighbors home is now my own, we shall never want for eggs again.
LOL AWESOME
You commenting that on every video about this song right? 😂

Same here. I sing this song every evening for my daughter when its night time. With about 4 month, she really calmed while hearing Rachels Voice.
Because of this comment, I decided to try it with my 4 month old baby. She cannot fall asleep now without listening to Rachel Hardy 😍😅😂

Hey man, DON'T SPOIL THAT! I'm so glad I've been taken by surprise before reading this comment. The music starts well designed since the very beginning but you cannot expect what's coming later. Hello Dan, we miss you brother!
I can't count how many times I've listened to her sing over the years-maybe a hundred, maybe a thousand. Whenever I close my eyes, when things get tough, her song and face come to mind. Even though I've never met her, and never will, she was with me-in Mali, in Ukraine, in Poland, in Latvia. May the gods bless all the soldiers of good.
i could sleep to her voice all night. its so soothing and gorgeous.
Edit: her hair and face are very pretty as well.

THANK YOU ALL so much for half a million views!!! I love reading through all the lovely comments, thank for for the subs 🙏🏼 much love ❤️
way passed 500K now :) +1 sub btw, love your voice!
I am from Iceland. and Egill Skallagrímsson (the viking who wrote the original poem) is actually one of my ancestors.
Although I can't help butt feel like something is missing in the translation to english, I'll be damned if this isn't the most beautiful version I have ever heard of this song!
Thank you very much!
Thank Odin that we still have descendants of sorcerers!
@@Raccoon469 Egill was many things, but a sorcerer?
WOW - that is some impressive ancestry! Beautiful to see that you keep the connection alive 💟
@@obcl8569 It is not really THAT impressive. In ages past Iceland had a small population, usually didn't go far above 50.000 people.
I usually do not need to go more than 6 or 7 generations back to find a connection to any of my friends, for example. So when the person in question is from about a thousand years ago, I would not be surprised if more than half the nation can trace their lineage back to Egill (who we all learn about in school, so he would be a popular example).

My mother told me has always been something I enjoy listening to, then I hear this and I remember why I listen to it. It transports you to a different world, one where Vikings exist, one where we don’t have to worry about taxes but rather what will be for supper, we live in such a different world and I wonder what it would be like to back and live a day like a Viking.
Taxes existed long before the Vikings.

The Vikings came to Ireland and settled taking Irish women as wives. MY last name is Odom and as you go back as the name has changed when the enlgish invaded ireland and scotland Oldmam-Oldom-Odinsplace were given to those as last names. Going back in geneoligy and DNA from my Greatx3 Grandparents before the moved to the Americas

Does anyone else has goosebumps? The harmonies are insanely good - your voice is ethereal Rachel.
My mother told me...."ask Rachel Hardy to ever so politely consider covering the Patrick kavanagh poem 'On Raglan road' (as sang by Irish folk singer Luke Kelly😊) in her haunting angelic voice and if you ask politely enough, she may indulge the world with this powerfully intimate piece of musical literature🙏"

Someday I will die
Fighting for new lands
With blood covered hands
Let out my war cry
Show I have no fear
