I've been stuck on my Google Nexus 6p to this date and no google phone got my interest since now with the pixel 5....google nailed it...I can finally upgrade.
I thought it was fully symmetrical as well but in this video it looks like the bottom bezels is a tiny bit thicker (is it just me)? I also hope it's not an iPhone XR situation (where they managed to have symmetrical bezels by making all the bezels thicker)

In my opinion, the general public doesn't need a snap 865 much less an 865+. The 765G is more of a "usable" and realistic chip So I don't think not having an 865 is drawback

Sony Xperia 5 II is the better device for only 100€ more with the Sony wireless earbuds thrown in as well imho, so unless you're a hardware google fan I don't see much point in this one
I'm tempted to replace my Pixel 3 for the ultrawide camera, 90hz screen, and a bigger battery, but I think I'll hold off one more year. Some leaks came out in August of Google planning to release a foldable alongside the Pixel 6 and I'm curious to see what that looks like.
What bothers me is that if Google had just implemented most of the traits from the Pixel 5 in a proper flagship, it would really be everything most people wanted the Pixel 4 to be. Pixel 5 is great as is, it just would've been great to get the symmetrical bezels, quality panel, big battery, ultra wide lens, and clean software in a no-compromise package

Thanks for the review...so glad to see the return of the rear mounted finger print sensor...how could anything be faster than as soon as my hand touches the device the screen is unlocked and ready to go?! Google has hit the sweet spot in size, cost and battery life for my needs.

10:15 Night Sight "does a fantastic job" Is this related to the Pixel 5? I have a Pixel 3a and Night Sight is just terrible. In my case it usually chooses an exposure time between 0.45s and 1s per frame in extreme low-light conditions and I always get slightly blurry photos unless I stop breathing for 7 (!!) seconds. Sometimes even the astro mode (4s per frame) turns on although I don't use a tripod. I have tried multiple Pixel 3a, they all have a terrible Night Sight mode. HDR+ enhanced is much(!) better because it chooses a much more reasonable exposure time of 1/5s per frame. This way I nearly always get sharper photos than Night Sight photos. In most cases HDR+ enhanced can produce as bright photos as Night Sight (and with similar noise performance) when you use the exposure compensation (or shoot in HDR+ raw), but Google removed HDR+ enhanced for the Pixel 4 and apparently the Pixel 5 doesn't have it either. Very poor decision. A lot of things seem to go wrong in Google's camera department recently. They even removed the white balance settings one year ago. Google ignored that more than 200 support forum users voted for bringing back the white balance presets. Instead they made the auto white balance noticeably worse, which was confirmed by multiple reviewers like anandtech.
Watching on my Pixel 2 XL (STILL A BEAST!!) can't wait to see the "after one month reviews" on this 5 so I can maybe snatch a Black Friday discount 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️.... maybe
There's no way to tell the difference between the 2 chipsets without benchmarking them, let's be fair. The software is wonderful and I can't wait to use android 11. The camera is incredibly sexy and I love how little is petrudes from the phone. I managed to get a green phone and can't wait for it to arrive! Edit: I'd much rather have the extra ram than an ever so slightly better chipset ♥

The SD 855 is about 40% faster than the 765g (Based off my s10e score), it would have been nice if they put last years flagship processor in it for the same price. Shure having 5G looks good on paper but is actually incredibly useless at the moment
Damn I guess folks still worrying about the chins again 😒. I'm still using the S10 Plus and the chin really doesn't bothers me at all 🤷🏾♂️. Also folks actually like the OnePlus 8, Galaxy S20/Ultra, and Note 20 have huge chins at the bottom
While it's true that the 765G delivers enough speed to do everything you need, that's not saying much these days. The Pixel 3 XL outperforms it by a decent margin. Paying $700 for a phone that performs worse than a 2-year old flagship is a tough sell. And unlike the Pixel 3 XL it has a 1080p screen and no front facing speakers. If it cost $500, then it would be okay, but at $700 it doesn't make sense to me. Get a Pixel 4a - half the price and basically the same performance. Who needs 5G...
It's hard to believe all these reviews. My Pixel 3 XL with a Snapdragon 845 struggles to process multiple pictures and panoramas, can't handle FullHD video at 60 without dropping frames and has many other limitations due to Google software, imagine 3 months from now with the same software but with a midrange processor!. My father's OnePlus 6 is way more snappier. A midrange processor phone couldn't cost more than 499 imo.
One question left ... did google get rid of their RIDICULOUS 4 line visible limit for texts? I have the 3a and it's very frustrating to scroll through the 4 lines of visible text when typing. Every other phone I've had the text box just grows as you type. I've read of many other users being frustrated by this idiotic limitation. While I'm very happy with my Google 3a (except for the texting thing) I won't likely get another GOOGLE phone until they change their SMS software to suit more lines of text. Although NOT having a headphone jack would be a deal-breaker for me anyways. If the Google 5 had both of these options I would likely get one as soon as it came out. I do like how they've included the wireless charging and reverse wireless charging which is a step in the right direction. Oh well ... maybe one of these companies will get it right at some point.

HDR+ enhanced is much(!) better because it chooses a much more reasonable exposure time of 1/5s per frame. This way I nearly always get sharper photos than Night Sight photos. In most cases HDR+ enhanced can produce as bright photos as Night Sight (and with similar noise performance) when you use the exposure compensation (or shoot in HDR+ raw), but Google removed HDR+ enhanced for the Pixel 4 and apparently the Pixel 5 doesn't have it either. Very poor decision. A lot of things seem to go wrong in Google's camera department recently. They even removed the white balance settings one year ago. Google ignored that more than 200 support forum users voted for bringing back the white balance presets. Instead they made the auto white balance noticeably worse, which was confirmed by multiple reviewers like anandtech.

There's no way to tell the difference between the 2 chipsets without benchmarking them, let's be fair. The software is wonderful and I can't wait to use android 11. The camera is incredibly sexy and I love how little is petrudes from the phone. I managed to get a green phone and can't wait for it to arrive!

Pretty obvious in photo processing time or game. It's not a slight difference, 765g has a weaker GPU than the 845.

Even in efficiency the 765g is closer to the 845 than the 865.

128 gb pixel without microSD memory is a joke. Apps from google market today taking around 64-100 gb. What is left for video, photo, music, some movies ? 10-20 gb? Honestly...I'm very disappointed. I just want a high end Pixel phone that has everything and more than all the other high end phones. Why can't we get that, Google?! The SD 855 is about 40% faster than the 765g (Based off my s10e score), it would have been nice if they put last years flagship processor in it for the same price. Shure having 5G looks good on paper but is actually incredibly useless at the moment
Damn I guess folks still worrying about the chins again 😒. I'm still using the S10 Plus and the chin really doesn't bothers me at all 🤷🏾♂️. Also folks actually like the OnePlus 8, Galaxy S20/Ultra, and Note 20 have huge chins at the bottom
While it's true that the 765G delivers enough speed to do everything you need, that's not saying much these days. The Pixel 3 XL outperforms it by a decent margin. Paying $700 for a phone that performs worse than a 2-year old flagship is a tough sell. And unlike the Pixel 3 XL it has a 1080p screen and no front facing speakers. If it cost $500, then it would be okay, but at $700 it doesn't make sense to me. Get a Pixel 4a - half the price and basically the same performance. Who needs 5G...
It's hard to believe all these reviews. My Pixel 3 XL with a Snapdragon 845 struggles to process multiple pictures and panoramas, can't handle FullHD video at 60 without dropping frames and has many other limitations due to Google software, imagine 3 months from now with the same software but with a midrange processor!. My father's OnePlus 6 is way more snappier. A midrange processor phone couldn't cost more than 499 imo.
One question left ... did google get rid of their RIDICULOUS 4 line visible limit for texts? I have the 3a and it's very frustrating to scroll through the 4 lines of visible text when typing. Every other phone I've had the text box just grows as you type. I've read of many other users being frustrated by this idiotic limitation. While I'm very happy with my Google 3a (except for the texting thing) I won't likely get another GOOGLE phone until they change their SMS software to suit more lines of text.
Although NOT having a headphone jack would be a deal-breaker for me anyways. If the Google 5 had both of these options I would likely get one as soon as it came out. I do like how they've included the wireless charging and reverse wireless charging which is a step in the right direction. Oh well ... maybe one of these companies will get it right at some point.
